1. How many years had Newt been with Call and Gus when Jake first came back?

Answer: 9

Jake had been gone for 10 years, but Maggie had been dead for only 9 years. Jake's comment after learning this - "I swear, you've had little Newt all this time."
2. Where did Jake tell Call he was taking Lorie when they were leaving Lonesome Dove on the cattle drive?

Answer: San Francisco

In the book, Jake tells them that they are going to Denver. In the movie he tells them San Francisco.
3. What kind of thorn did Deets take out of Jake's thumb?

Answer: mesquite

Deets removed the thorn and told Jake, "Now you be cutting the cards again."
