Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There are only a couple episodes featuring a giant orange monster usually starring opposite Bugs Bunny. What is the name of this lovable giant?

Answer: Gossamer

Gossamer only appears a couple of times. He works for the crazy scientist and the scientist sends him after Bugs Bunny. Bugs gets the best of this large but not-so-smart monster every time, though. One time Bugs even poses as a hair stylist and works on the monster's hair, commenting on how many "interesting people" he meets doing that job.
2. While multiple episodes feature the giant orange monster who works for the mad scientist, the monster only has a total of one line. The line consists of one word, followed by a scream. What is this only line ever spoken by the beloved monster?

Answer: "People! AHHH!"

This is spoken at the very end of the episode. Bugs gets the monster's attention and points out into the audience saying, "Look! Out there in the audience..." Gossamer looks at the "camera" and yells, "People!" He then screams and turns around, running away and crashing through wall after wall of the castle leaving Gossamer-shaped holes in his wake.
3. Foghorn Leghorn, the large comical rooster, shares several episodes with a tiny brown bird who is quite aggressive. What does this little bird claim he is?

Answer: A Chicken Hawk

Despite his small stature, this feisty little chicken hawk is full of confidence and attitude and is not afraid of anyone. He constantly insists he is superior to Foghorn Leghorn and their interactions are the source of many an episode.
4. Daffy Duck spends a few episodes battling Marvin the Martian in space. What super-hero does he become during many of these battles?

Answer: Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-Half Century

Many times, when faces with a difficult situation, Daffy proclaims, "This looks like a job for Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-Half Century!" He then emerges in his super-hero suit. During many of these declarations, though, he is interrupted mid-sentence by an explosion that slows him down a little.

He then tries several times to repeat the powerful line, putting up with an explosion each time as he gets more and more beat up.
5. Who was the original voice of nearly all of the primary "Looney Tunes" characters before he passed away in 1989?

Answer: Mel Blanc

Mel Blanc did the voices for just about every character before his tragic passing. A famous poster was put together commemorating his work. It pictures the group of "Looney Tunes" characters standing together off to the side with their heads bowed and an spotlit mic with no one in front of it. The picture bears a single word: "Speechless"

Thank you to player Tolkienist for the following additional interesting information:

While Mel Blanc did voice most of the main characters, he did not voice all of them. Elmer Fudd was done by Arthur Q. Bryan who played Ricky's boss Mr Chambers on the show "I Love Lucy". Also, Wile E Coyote was voiced by Hans Conried who worked for Jay Ward.

Blanc was actually rejected when he first auditioned at Warner Bros in 1938. The following year Tregoweth 'Treg' Brown, the sound editor interviewed Mel Blanc again and when Blanc was hired he asked what happened to the guy who rejected him the year before. Brown said: "Oh, he died."
6. Several of the "Looney Tunes" cartoons feature a duo of leading men. One of these men is large and never quite understands what is going on, frequently causing headaches and problems for the smaller "brains" of the group who is named George. What famous novel's characters are these guys based on?

Answer: "Of Mice and Men"

In the cartoons, you never get to hear the name of the big guy but you do often hear the big guy using the name of the smaller guy; George. The character from the book has this same name.
7. What item does Wile E. Coyote frequently use in a vain effort to protect himself from some huge falling object?

Answer: A Tiny Umbrella

His use of this item is usually paired with a sad look of inevitibility as he waits for the large rock or anvil or combination safe to land on his head. Sometimes Wile E. also uses a sign or a small wave to silently communicate his dread.
8. Which of the following characters NEVER chases Bugs Bunny?

Answer: Sylvester the Cat

Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd frequently find themselves trying to catch Bugs. Wile E. Coyote even spends a couple episodes trying to outsmart our rabbit friend (during which, Wile E. often speaks - something he does not often do when paired with the roadrunner).

Sylvester spends the majority of his time trying to catch Tweety Bird without being caught by the guard dog that frequently defends Tweety.
9. Who is the self-proclaimed "fastest mouse in all of Mexico"?

Answer: Speedy Gonzales

He is a tiny mouse in a large sombrero and he often stars opposite Sylvester the Cat. His claim to fame is his blazing speed that often gets him or his friends out of trouble.
10. What is the name of the cat Pepe Le Pew spends numerous episodes chasing?

Answer: Penelope

Penelope is a cat but she always seems to somehow gain a white stripe on her back from somewhere - often a bench or pole that has recently been painted - apparently making her look like a female skunk. Even though it happens over and over, she always seems surprised that Pepe goes after her. Blinded by love, Pepe does not even notice that she is a cat.
