Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the message on the answering machine from?

Answer: Max

The first words you heard on the answering machine were, "Hi it's Max." He told Lorelai that they had missed each other again, that he had called at 2 in the afternoon, and that he wanted to go on that date they kept talking about but had never went on.
2. With which sense could Lorelai sense the snow coming?

Answer: smell

Lorelai couldn't "feel" the snow coming, "see" it coming, or "hear" it coming, but rather "smelled" it coming. She said to Rory, once she had woken Rory up with the harsh winter air of an open window in the middle of the night, "The snow's coming." Rory told her it was that time of year, and Lorelai said, "I can smell it. Can't you?"
3. What book did Rory have trouble finding before school?

Answer: Chemistry book

Rory interrupted Lane with "Where's my Chemistry book? I can't find it anywhere!" Lane got upset, because Rory wasn't paying attention to her. Luckily enough for Rory, Lorelai told Rory her "big scary Chemistry book" was behind the desk at the inn.
4. Who liked Rocky Road cookies?

Answer: Dean

Rory was with Lane when she asked Sookie for some Rocky Road cookies. Sookie put some in a bag for Rory, and then Lorelai walked in. Lorelai saw the cookies and told Rory she didn't like Rocky Road cookies. "Yeah I do," Rory insisted. "Oh, I'm sorry, that must have been my other daughter, Shmory." Lorelai replied.

Then she caught on. "I know who likes Rocky Road cookies. Dean." she said. Sookie and Lorelai then started teasing Rory about the cookies being for a boy.
5. Meanwhile, as Lorelai was hoping for snow and Lane was getting jealous of Rory, Luke had his own problems. What was Luke's father buried with again?

Answer: his musket

As you may have been able to tell from the answer choices, Luke wasn't proud of the traditional reenactment of the famous Stars Hollow battle, which consisted of waiting out in the cold all night long for the Redcoats, who never showed. As Luke had said at the town meeting, "they were stood up. They should have been wearing prom dresses."
6. When Luke finally had felt sorry enough for the poor cold souls who were freezing their butts off in order to reenact the famous Stars Hollow battle, what did we see him bring to warm them up?

Answer: coffee

Luke brought coffee with him, and persuaded one of the men dressed up as soldiers to take it, and then he offered some to Kirk. Kirk asked if he could have some herbal tea with a touch of lemon instead, and Luke agreed, but viewers never saw Luke come back with orders. Some of the other men ordered hot cocoa.
7. Why did Rory spend the night at her grandparents'?

Answer: Bad weather conditions forced her to be stuck

According to Emily, the weather was horrible. She called up Lorelai, and told her that there was a brutal snowstorm coming, and it had already hit Hartford. They had sent someone to pick Rory up from school, and Lorelai couldn't come to dinner because, if it was as bad as Emily said it was, there'd be no way. Rory would have to spend the night.
8. Florence couldn't come that night to Emily and Richard's. Who, again, was Florence?

Answer: the cook

Richard didn't know who Florence was, right away. "The maid?" he guessed. "No!- the cook!" Emily replied. She started freaking out, for she had no idea what they'd do for dinner.
9. Keep in mind that Rich Bloomenfeld was the cute boy that Lane had a big crush on. What color was Rich's hair?

Answer: dirty blond

It was very funny to see Lane's Jazz Band partner, Rich, lean over, and then to watch as Lane reached over and put her fingers through his very clearly seen dirty blond hair. He looked up, and she realized what she had done, and then she ran away, scared. She ended up in Rory's kitchen.
10. After Emily hesitantly agreed that she, Rory, and Richard could indeed have the maid's frozen pizza for dinner, regardless of the fact it was "carnival food", Rory realized she'd need a cookie sheet. What, according to Richard, were the chances Emily would know where a cookie sheet was?

Answer: very slim

After Rory asked what the chances her grandmother would know where a cookie sheet was were, Richard responded, "I'd say very slim." "Very slim?" Emily replied to his answer. "I'll have to thank you for that." Rory insisted that it was okay, and she'd manage to find one.
11. Rory was in her mother's old bedroom, exploring, when she came across a photo album. She opened it up to a random page, and a picture of Lorelai and Chris, Rory's parents, fell out. In what year was that picture taken?

Answer: 1983

Rory looked at the picture gently, and turned it over. It said, in a heart drawn with red pen, "Lorelai and Chris- '83". Rory then tucked the picture away in her coat pocket, so she could secretly keep it.
12. Lane was franticly trying to find Rory, and had called Rory's pager from Rory's kitchen. When Rory called Lane back, Lane was afraid of a potential grade she may now have in Jazz Band. What "potential" grade was this again?

Answer: F

Lane had touched Rich's hair, and now was extremely afraid of never being able to face her peers at school again. In addition to that, which was pretty bad, Lane had run away from a concert with her Jazz Band. She told Rory she was afraid of getting a potential F in Jazz Band!
13. What type of cheese did Rory grate on the frozen pizza that made a world of difference to her grandmother's enjoyment of it?

Answer: parmesan

Rory told her grandparents that frozen pizza was a staple food at her house. Rory and Lorelai had figured out that grating some extra parmesan cheese on it made it taste great. She told her grandmother to trust her, it was good, and then Rory grated some on. Emily loved it, and told Richard he had to try it.
14. Had Lorelai ever invited a man into her house before Max?

Answer: No

Lorelai was skeptical about letting another man into her house because she had never done it before, but Max volunteered himself to be the first one. He really wanted to come inside. Later, Rory repeated this fact. She didn't even remember her mother EVER bringing a man into the house!
15. When Rory was dropped off at her house in the morning, who were the two unexpected visitors at her house?

Answer: Lane and Max

Max was on the couch, sleeping, when Lorelai looked out her window and realized Rory was about to come in the house. Max Medina actually is Rory's English teacher, so Rory felt a little uncomfortable at the idea. When Rory and Lorelai were discussing this little fact about the man still sleeping on Rory's couch, Lane opened the door to Rory's bedroom, and Rory found out that Lane had spent the night as well. Lane had needed a sympathetic house to stay at.
