Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The season 6 DVD for "Doctor Who" features several mini-episodes. In the mini-episode "Bad Night", when the Doctor enters the TARDIS, what type of household pet does he give to Amy?

Answer: Goldfish

The Doctor is in a hostage crisis involving an alien warrior chief. The aliens have turned the Queen of England into a goldfish. The Doctor is trying to negotiate over the phone, while also dealing with the Prince of Wales, who wants to talk with his mother. The alien warrior is a fly, which Amy smashes with a blueprint. In the end, it turns out the Doctor also has the wrong fish.
2. What is the Doctor wearing in the mini-episode "Bad Night"?

Answer: A tuxedo

The Doctor is dressed in black tie and tails, and indicates he has been at a party. Under pressure from Amy, he admits that he was at the party with River Song. Rory Williams can be seen in the Roman centurion outfit in "The Pandorica Opens", "The Big Bang" and "A Christmas Carol". The long black leather coat is a trademark of the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston).
3. "Good Night" is the second of five mini-episodes on the "Doctor Who" season six DVD. According to the Doctor, Amy's saddest memory involves her losing what?

Answer: an ice cream cone

The Doctor takes Amy back to a fairgrounds when she is a little girl so adult Amy can buy an ice cream cone and give it to her past self. Amy tells her young self "Cheer up. Have an ice cream." The Doctor tells Amy to bring back an ice cream for him.
4. At the start of "Good Night", the Doctor is attempting to conceal what type of musical instrument from Amy?

Answer: A euphonium

Amy specifically states that it is a euphonium. The euphonium, a valved brass instrument similar to a tuba, was invented in Germany in the 1840s. There is dispute over who invented the first euphonium. The name comes from Greek, meaning "pleasant sound". Just as in "Bad Night", the Doctor is wearing a tuxedo, implying he has been at a party.
5. In the mini-episode "First Night" what is the name of the planet where the Doctor is taking River Song on a date?

Answer: Calderon Beta

Calderon Beta is "boring" according to the Doctor except for September 21, 2360 when you can see more stars in the sky than at any other time in the history of the universe. Alfava Metraxis is where the Byzantium lands in the episode "The Time of Angels".

It is where Amy and River meet for the first time (at least as the episodes were aired... it's complicated). Darillium is the planet the Doctor takes River to on their very last date, right before she goes to The Library. Stormcage is the site of the maximum security prison where River is locked up, until she escapes with the help of the Doctor.
6. At the end of "First Night", an apparently wounded River Song stumbles into the TARDIS and calls the Doctor what?

Answer: A nostalgic idiot

The episode ends with the Doctor holding an unconscious River in his arms. An alternate River is in the wardrobe, presumably changing into the dress seen at the start of the episode.
7. In the mini-episode "Last Night", River Song's clothing is a critical plot device. What exactly is River wearing that causes all the trouble?

Answer: A gold evening gown

River's dress, which is first seen in "First Night", is a shiny gold. River sees the dress and thinks the Doctor is cheating on her, and goes looking for the floozy he is hiding.
River is wearing a space suit when we first meet her in "Silence in the Library" and once again in "The Impossible Astronaut" (major spoiler there). River is wearing the denim outfit when we first see her in "The Impossible Astronaut". She is wearing the parka during "The Pandorica Opens". It is almost impossible to define River's fashion sense, because she has dressed differently in almost every episode.
8. How many versions of River Song do we see in the mini-episode "Last Night" from the Doctor Who" season six DVD?

Answer: 3

There are three Rivers in this episode, each from different points in time. The youngest is River on the first night of her stay in prison. The oldest River and the Doctor head off to the Singing Towers of Darillium, which is shortly before the events in "Silence in the Library" take place. The two Doctors share a meaningful look, as both know what the future holds.
Three versions of River turns out to be too much, even for the Doctor, and he uses the vortex manipulator to zap one of them back to Stormcage.
9. "Up All Night", the fifth mini-episode, does not contain the Doctor, Amy or Rory. What two characters from season six does it feature?

Answer: Craig and Sophie

Craig and Sophie first appear in "The Lodger" and return for "Closing Time". In both episodes, Craig's love helps defeat aliens who are attempting to take over the world. The mini-episode is set the night before "Closing Time" and Craig is fretting about his abilities as a father. Dorium and Madame Kovarian first appear in "A Good Man Goes to War" and reappear in the season finale "The Wedding of River Song". FBI agent Canton Everett Delaware III and President Richard Nixon feature prominently in "The Impossible Astronaut" and "Day of the Moon". Mels and the Teselecta are both seen in "Let's Kill Hitler". Mels has a brief stay, because she regenerates into River Song.

The Teselecta is a law enforcement robot which also makes a brief (and very important) appearance in "The Wedding of River Song".
10. Who wrote four of the five mini-episodes in the "Night and the Doctor" series featured on the sixth season "Doctor Who" DVD?

Answer: Steven Moffat

Moffat, who has served as executive producer and written multiple episodes of "Doctor Who", wrote "Good Night", "Bad Night", "First Night" and "Last Night". Tom MacRae wrote "Up All Night".
Richard Senior was the director for the first four mini-episodes. Wenger was one of the producers at the BBC who supervised the project. James Corden is the actor who plays Craig Owens, seen in mini-episode 5, "Up All Night".
