Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Starship Alaska crashed on a planet full of Daleks with Oswin Oswald trapped on board.

Answer: "Asylum of the Daleks" (7)

The Dalek Asylum was supposed to be a fortress to keep the insane and broken Daleks in one place. When the Starship Alaska crashed on the planet's surface, most of the crew died, but Oswin Oswald survived. She was broadcasting music which was picked up by a Dalek ship.

The Daleks sent the Doctor, Amy, and Rory into the Dalek Asylum in order to destroy it. The Doctor tried to rescue Oswin, but she hadn't survived in the way they had originally thought.
2. A fake alien spaceship was sent to crash-land in the River Thames by the Slitheen.

Answer: "Aliens of London" (1)

The Slitheen were a family from Raxacoricofallapatorius. They wanted to turn the Earth into a nuclear wasteland and sell it as fuel to the rest of the universe. In order to gain control of Earth's nuclear weapons, they orchestrated a fake alien invasion and infiltrated the British government.

The pretend spaceship crashed into Big Ben and landed in the Thames. They even put a fake alien in the driving seat.
3. A Cyberman ship had crashed in Colchester, England. Centuries later, a department store was built above it and people began to go missing.

Answer: "Closing Time" (6)

Craig Owens returned in "Closing Time" with a new addition: baby Alfie. People were going missing in a nearby department store so Craig and the Doctor went to investigate. They discovered that an old, dilapidated Cyberman spaceship was buried beneath the shop.
4. The human spacecraft, the SS Pentallian, was heading towards a sun that was actually a living organism.

Answer: "42" (3)

The captain of the SS Pentallian illegally scooped fuel from the Torajii sun. She didn't realise, however, that the sun was actually a living creature. It started to draw the ship towards itself and began to infect and kill the crew in order to reclaim its missing parts. When the Doctor and Martha arrived, they only had 42 minutes to save the spacecraft.
5. A spaceship version of the Titanic was set to crash-land on Earth on Christmas Day.

Answer: "Voyage of the Damned " (4)

The 2007 Christmas special, "Voyage of the Damned", was set on a spaceship that had been modeled on the infamous Titanic. The passengers thought that they were on a holiday to experience Earth culture, but the ship was never intended to return home. The cruise line's former director wanted to bankrupt the company as revenge for being forced out of the top job.

The ship's dying captain had been promised money for his family if he allowed the spacecraft to be damaged by asteroids and crash into Earth.
6. The Sheriff of Nottingham saw a spaceship crash in the area. He attempted to rebuild it using gold so that he could become more powerful.

Answer: "Robot of Sherwood" (8)

"Robot of Sherwood" took place in Nottinghamshire in medieval England because Clara wanted to see Robin Hood. The Doctor believed that Robin Hood was a fictional character and was skeptical when they came across Robin and his Merry Men. In reality, The Sheriff's knights were the ones pretending to be something they were not.

They were actually robots from the crashed ship. The Sheriff intended to rebuild the ship using gold, so that he would be powerful and fearsome enough to take over the kingdom.
7. A group of 19th century British soldiers came across an Ice Warrior whose ship had crashed on Earth.

Answer: "Empress of Mars" (10)

An Ice Warrior had crashed on Earth and had been found by a group of Victorian soldiers in Africa. In exchange for their help fixing his ship, the Ice Warrior (who they called Friday) agreed to take them to Mars where they could mine the planet and claim it for the British Empire. Friday tricked them, however.

Instead of mining for precious stones and metals, the soldiers were actually digging a tunnel to the tomb of the Ice Empress.
8. The Byzantium crashed on top of a cave system that was full of Weeping Angels.

Answer: "The Time of Angels" (5)

The original inhabitants of the planet Alfava Metraxis had been wiped out by the Weeping Angels. In "The Time of Angels", the Byzantium crashed on top of a cave system that was full of what the Doctor and River Song believed were statues made by the Aplans, the original inhabitants of the planet.

The statues were actually weakened Angels. One surviving Weeping Angel had purposely crashed the Byzantium above them so that the other Angels could feed on its power source.
9. The TARDIS (complete with a newly-regenerated Doctor) crashed in Amelia Pond's garden.

Answer: "The Eleventh Hour" (5)

The Tenth Doctor's regeneration had a catastrophic effect on the TARDIS. It started to crash and the Eleventh Doctor struggled to bring it under control in "The Eleventh Hour". It eventually landed on its side in Amelia Pond's garden. Drenched in water from the swimming pool, the Doctor climbed out of the TARDIS and asked the young Amelia for an apple.
10. A solar flare caused an Isolus pod to become separated from its family of billions and crash-land on Earth.

Answer: "Fear Her" (2)

The Isolus had landed on a fresh layer of tarmac on a newly resurfaced road. It was lonely and had possessed a 12-year-old girl called Chloe. She gained the ability to abduct people and animals by drawing them. Her ambition was to create a huge family like the Isolus family she was used to.
