Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "It's good to put my arms around you... both of them."

Answer: Mulder to Scully in 'Terma'

For those of you who don't recall, Krycek lost his arm in this episode, and Mulder would have too if he hadn't escaped, which is why he makes this remark when he sees Scully at the Senate Sub-Committee Meeting upon returning from Russia. What does Scully ask him in oh-so Scully fashion?... "Mulder, where have you been?!"
2. "I was born a loser, but you're one by choice."

Answer: Eddie Van Blundht to Mulder in 'Small Potatoes'

This was the prison scene at the end of the episode when Mulder visits Eddie. Eddie also tells Mulder to "Live a little, treat yourself... God knows I would, if I were you." Speaking of Eddie, the character was played by "X-Files" writer Darin Morgan who won an Emmy award in 1996 for "Best Writing in a Screenplay" for season 3's 'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose'.
3. "I've never underestimated Mulder... I still don't."

Answer: Smoking Man to Elder in 'Redux'

This scene takes place at a race track where CSM talks to the Elder who resembles Fat Tony with a missing tooth. The Elder says "Agent Mulder is dead, our FBI source confirmed it this morning. Mulder killed himself, Mulder was an asset. Without his partner you may have underestimated his fragility." To which CSM responds with the above quote. William B. Davis, the actor who portrays Smoking Man, is actually a non-smoker in real life and had to fake smoke his cigarettes throughout the series.
4. "No matter how paranoid you are, you're not paranoid enough..."

Answer: Suzanne Modeski to Byers in 'Unusual Suspects'

"... Tell the truth, reach as many people as you can with it, that's your weapon." Suzanne says this at the near end of the episode before getting kidnapped by X. The Lone Gunmen later starred in the short lived spin off of the same name. Unfortunately, the entertaining show was cancelled by Fox after only 13 episodes.
5. "Come on, Scully, it'll be a nice trip to the woods."

Answer: Mulder to Scully in 'Darkness Falls'

In the beginning of the episode, after Mulder tells her he's pulled some strings to get a case about some missing loggers in the woods, Scully asks, "And you suspect what?, Bigfoot?" to which Mulder replies, "Not likely, that's a lot of flannel to be choking down even for Bigfoot." When Scully still looks less than convinced, Mulder uses the above quote to seal the deal and get her to go.
6. "Nothing disappears without a trace."

Answer: Albert Hosteen to Mulder in 'Anasazi'

Mulder says, "You think they were abducted" to which Albert responds, "By visitors who come here still." This scene takes place in a car in New Mexico, and since filming was done in Vancouver, the crew had to spray paint the rocks red to make Vancouver pass for New Mexico. If you watch carefully during the desert scenes, you can actually see where they missed a few spots or where some red paint got washed away.
7. "You look constipated, actually."

Answer: Scully to Mulder in 'Patient X'

This scene takes place near the middle of the episode after Mulder, having said at a conference that Aliens do not exist, asks Scully, "Do I look like I'm having fun, Scully?" and when Scully replies with the above quote, Mulder says "That makes sense, I've had my head up my rear end for the last 5 years." On a completely unrelated note, the fingerprints Cassandra Spender leaves on the hospital window pane form the constellation 'Cassiopeia'.
8. "Why don't you just call him... Oh, right... death from above."

Answer: Scully to Esther Nairn in 'Kill Switch'

Scully says this near the middle of the episode after Esther insists that the A.I. tracks you down via satellite and particle beams you to death. In this scene they are discussing how to locate David to see if he was able to find the A.I.'s safehouse.
9. "God watches over his flock, he gives us signs everyday. Open your heart, he might just open your eyes."

Answer: Samuel Hartley to Mulder in 'Miracle Man'

This entire scene took place in a low lit bar and part of the conversation before the above quote was spoken went like this- Samuel:"I can see it, as plain as day, it was a sister you lost, a sister quite young, someone took her away." Mulder: "What else do you see?" Samuel: "Strangers, a bright light..." At which point Scully intervenes and the Sheriff ambles over to arrest him and Samuel says the above quote as he's being dragged away. Canadian actor Scott Bairstow, who played Samuel Hartley in this episode, later played Tyler Creed in CBS's short lived sci-fi show "Wolf Lake".
10. "Now, we all have a natural instinct to propogate."

Answer: Scully to Mulder in 'Home'

This quote taken from near the middle of the episode was part of a cute conversation between the two agents outside of the Sheriffs office about procreation and parenthood. Mulder responded to Scully's statemetent with a very intrigued, "Do we?". Because of it's grotesque nature and disturbing plot, 'Home' received the first ever "Parental Guidance" warning in the "X-Files's" 4 year history at that point.

There have been a few others since then.
11. "I guess their parachutes didn't open... you were saying something about this place not feeling odd."

Answer: Mulder to Scully in 'Die Hand Die Verletzt'

Mulder says this to Scully at the beginning of the episode after she exclaims, "Mulder, toads just fell from the sky!". Mulder mentions the Coriolis Force in this episode which, due to the Earth's rotation, does indeed, force water to drain clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counter clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. It also effects air currents and projectiles.
12. "Scully, what are you wearing?"

Answer: Mulder to Scully in 'War of the Coprophages'

Mulder and Scully spend most of this episode on the phone to one another, and in this scene near the beginning of the episode, Scully has impressed Mulder after ranting about the improbability of intelligent alien life. This episode was dedicated to the disgusting little night creature, the cockroach, so here's some interesting info about them that wasn't mentioned in the episode. Cockroaches can survive for up to 40 days without food, up to a week without water and can even survive several hours without air! What a bunch of troopers.
13. "Did you learn about wind in Kindergarten?"

Answer: Scully to Mulder in 'The Calusari'

Mulder: "This is a helium balloon, and the one thing I did learn in Kindergarten is that they float up, up and away, but this one, is moving away from him... horizontally."
Scully: "Did you learn about wind in Kindergarten?"
14. "I want to believe."

Answer: Mulder to Hypnotherapist in 'Conduit'

At the end of the episode, Scully is listening to Mulder's hypnotic regression tapes when she hears the now famous line, which, incidentally, can also be seen on the poster behind Mulder's desk. The question Mulder is answering is "Do you believe the voice?"
15. "Is there anything you don't believe in, Mulder?"

Answer: Scully to Mulder in 'Post Modern Prometheus'

Scully asks this of Mulder near the middle of the episode while they are waiting outside in the middle of the night for the 'Great Mutato' to appear. This is the only episode in the series' 9 seasons to be filmed and aired completely in black and white. Chris Owens, who later plays the part of Jefferey Spender, portrayed the Great Mutato in this episode.
16. "Imagine, going through your whole life looking like that."

Answer: Blockhead to Scully in 'Humbug'

This statement is actually made twice in the episode by two different people (one was Scully and the other was Blockhead). In the one mentioned above, Blockhead is referring to Mulder's All-American good looks and classic hero stance at the end of the episode. Humbug was writer Darin Morgan's first Screenplay for the "X-Files" and he was so disappointed with how it was handled by the editors, producers and directors that he was severly depressed and even suicidal after it aired... Thankfully for us, he didn't kill himself because he later penned such classics as 'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose', 'War of the Coprophages' and 'Jose Chung's From Outer Space'.
17. "Then how come I feel like I lost?"

Answer: Mulder to Skinner in 'Kitsunegari'

Mulder says this to Skinner at the end of the episode after Skinner says Mulder won the game. Mulder responds with the above quote because he was tricked into nearly shooting Scully. Robert Wisden, the actor who played Robert Modell in this episode (as well as in Pusher 3X17), can currently be seen in a recurring role as Chloe Sullivan's father in the WB's
'Smallville', a show which chronicles the life of Clark Kent/Superman as a teenager.
18. "You can always quit."

Answer: Kersh to Mulder in 'Drive'

Kersh says this to Mulder at the end of the episode after Mulder complains about having to go back to the "bozo work, investigating huge piles of manure". Watching Drive, the second episode in season 6, many people will notice a distinct difference in the landscape and sets throughout the episode. That is because the "X-Files" moved to Los Angeles after season 5 and many of the gloomy, wet and overall X-Filey Vancouver sets were lost, giving way to the dry, sandy, desert era of the "X-Files".
19. "There are hits and there are misses. And then there are misses."

Answer: Scully to Bruckman in 'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose'

Scully says this to Bruckman near the end of the episode after Bruckman predicts that the two of them will end up in bed together.
Bruckman's reponse?... "I just call 'em as I see 'em".
Peter Boyle's performance as Clyde Bruckman in this season 3 episode garnered him an Emmy for "Best Guest Performance". Boyle can currently be seen in the oh-so-funny "Everybody Loves Raymond" as Frank Barone.
20. "Did you know the inventor of the flush toilet was named Thomas Crapper?"

Answer: Scully to Mulder in 'War of the Coprophages'

Scully shared this bit of trivia with Mulder in the middle of the episode after he tells her that ancient Egyptians held the scarab beetle sacred and possibly built the pyramids to honor them. On another note, Smart is indeed sexy in the case of Bobbie Phillips, who played Dr. Bambi Berenbaum in this episode.

The actress had a 4.0 average in college while studying law. She's also trained in Kung Fu, rides motorcycles and even races dirtbikes! Yikes!
