Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Eleven teams began this race at Athabasca Glacier near what Albertan National Park?

Answer: Jasper

Found in the Columbia Icefield, Athabasca Glacier was the first destination for a new group of teams to begin their race across Canada (with a few extra stops on the way). Although teams would later fly to British Columbia during Leg 1, teams first had to drive themselves to the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary to complete the country's fastest zipline.

When this was done they were able to fly to Victoria, British Columbia and attempt to secure their spot past the first Pit Stop.
2. In Leg 2, teams surfed North Chesterman Beach in what British Columbian surf destination?

Answer: Tofino

In the second leg of the race, teams headed northward from Victoria, B.C. to Tofino, the surf capital of Canada, where they embarked on a series of challenges involving local industries (specifically fishing and seafood prep) and, of course, surfing. Heading to North Chesterman Beach, one member of each team needed to surf the waves for five seconds to get a clue. Following this, team members completed a creative Road Block involving the building of a Tofino deckchair (out of driftwood) before they checked in at the second Pit Stop. During the surfing task, Shawn (of Jen and Shawn) dislocated his shoulder, forcing them to be pulled from the race.
3. Visiting Hong Kong in Leg 3, teams received blessings at which religious monument?

Answer: Tian Tan Buddha

As soon as teams touched down in their first international destination they were told to take a taxi to the cable car which would take them up to Ngong Ping Village; in the morning they would receive a blessing in front of the Tian Tan Buddha. Teams later proceeded to learn kung fu (or go on a shopping trip) before indulging in local delicacies and taking steps on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars. Arriving at the Pit Stop in Kowloon Walled City Park, Laura and Jackie were eliminated.
4. Visiting the Grand Lapa Hotel in Macau, teams had to learn how to play and deal for what casino game?

Answer: Fan-Tan

Arriving in Macau, China by jet-powered ferry in Leg 4, teams partook in several unique challenges beginning with a stop off at the A Ma Cultural Village and continuing with a bungee jump from Macau Tower and a choice between a scavenger hunt and a dance session in the markets.

The final task of the leg forced teams to visit the Grand Lapa Hotel where both had to learn the game of fan-tan with nothing more than an active demonstration, then properly deal and reward the patrons of a fan-tan table in a private room.
5. In Leg 6, teams made their way to Canada's windiest intersection, Portage and Main, in what provincial capital?

Answer: Winnipeg

After a bout in the cool, dense wilderness of the Yukon Territory, teams flew to Winnipeg, Manitoba in Leg 6 for a series of unique, local tasks including an opportunity to claim the Fast Forward and the appearance of an Express Pass (which was used by Pierre and Michel to skip a Road Block).

Here, teams got the opportunity to hit the ice in a Detour (hockey-themed with the Winnipeg Jets, of course) and tested their world know-how in front of the Royal Canadian Mint. Portage and Main was home to a cluebox containing the Detour.
6. Leg 7 sent teams to the winding streets of what famous French region?

Answer: Normandy

In Leg 7, teams flew to another international destination, this time Northwestern France. Taking a flight to Normandy, the final six embarked on a series of tasks completely varied in nature. After distilling apple brandy, teams could work on a horse farm or visit the Bayeux Tapestry.

After land-sailing on the Atlantic Coast, the teams also had a first-hand visit to the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery and Juno Beach to commemorate D-Day.
7. In Paris (in Leg 8), did teams find a clue at the depicted monument?

Answer: Yes

In Leg 8, teams left Normandy by train and headed directly to Paris, the capital of France. Their first clue box could be found in front of the Arc de Triomphe, but teams also had the chance to race by taxi and on foot through the beautiful neighbourhoods and city streets, also reaching Place du Canada (where they received Detour clues), (Centre Georges Pompidou (where they found the Double U-Turn and Speed Bump), and Pont de l'Archevêché from which they spied the Pit Stop.
8. In Leg 10, teams visited the home of Canada's Confederation, Province House, in what capital city?

Answer: Charlottetown

Flying to Prince Edward Island in Leg 10, the final five teams took a series of tasks in and around Charlottetown with the Road Block, involving identifying the founding fathers of Canada, taking place in front of and inside Province House, one of the most famous landmarks of the provincial capital.

In this leg, teams also raced around Red Shores Racetrack, stopped off at Lucy Maud Montgomery's House, and checked in at the Pit Stop on Atlantic shoreline in Rustico. Here, Alain and Audrey were eliminated.
9. In Leg 11, all four teams went to the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick for which of the following?

Answer: Detour

In the final Detour of the race, teams ended up on the Bay of Fundy on New Brunswick's coastal shore. Finding a Detour task awaiting them, they all ended up completing the 'By Sea' option on the beach. For this, they donned boots and used a box of one hundred nautical flags to spell out seven distinct messages, ordering their flags precisely on the line to get their next clue.

This ended up taking a while for most teams as attention to detail was key. After this, teams headed to the Road Block at Cape Enrage and, subsequently, their Pit Stop.
10. What Canadian city was home to the Finish Line?

Answer: Ottawa

In the final leg of the race, the final three teams flew to Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, for their remaining tasks. The trip took them not only along the Rideau Canal, but into the Centre Block of Parliament Hill, deep into the Diefenbunker, up into the Canadian Museum of Nature, and into the National Gallery of Canada.

In the end of the race, Mickey and Pete were able to maintain a healthy lead over the other teams, landing on the Finish Line mat in first place and winning "The Amazing Race Canada 2".
