Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Leg 2 marked the first Road Block of the race. What did team members need to collect and transport during the task?

Answer: A briefcase

In Leg 2, teams found their Road Block task waiting in Washington D. C. at the Tidal Pool. Here, teams needed to choose one of their four members to complete the task involving a briefcase received from a limousine on Third Street. This required that they head to the area around the pool and say the code phrase "the sky is blue" to people until they received a briefcase given by someone who recited "the sea is green" back to them.

After this, teams received their next clue directing them to Middleburg, Virginia.
2. In Leg 3, the Road Block took team members on a centrifuge. How many members of each team participated?

Answer: Two

In Leg 3, teams traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to complete a series of tasks at the United States Space & Rocket Center. For the Road Block, teams needed to choose two members to hop into a centrifuge and take a ride at a total of 3.2g of pressure. This is the first time in any "Amazing Race" where the Road Block has been performed by more than one racer on a team.

After the Road Block, teams headed off to find computers at Rocket Park and inevitably, they found their Pit Stop outside the Space Shuttle Pathfinder.
3. In Leg 5, which team did not complete the Road Block (as they had claimed the Fast Forward)?

Answer: The Paolo Family

Heading to Panama, teams found the Road Block task in Panama City. Here, one member of each participating team needed to use a bat to hit a baseball thrown by a local little league pitcher (and get a home run or base hit). The Paolo Family did not complete this task (or the Detour) as they had performed tandem bungee jumps in Panama City for the only Fast Forward of this race.

The Gaghan family attempted to reach this task, but were beaten by the Paolos by minutes. The Paolos subsequently placed first.

After the Road Block, teams traveled to the Pit Stop at the Miraflores Locks.
4. In Leg 6, teams completed a Road Block in Costa Rica involving coffee beans. What colour bean did they need to find?

Answer: Red

Certainly the case of a needle in a haystack, teams made their way to the Doca Estate, a coffee plantation in the city of Alajuela, Costa Rica. Here, one member of each team needed to search through an 800lb pile of coffee beans to find a single red bean amongst the rest. Once that team member successfully completed this task, they could head onwards to Roca Loca Surf Shop in Jaco for a Detour.

At the Road Block, the Paolo family exercised their Yield powers to force the Weavers to wait before performing the task.
5. In Leg 7, fifty laps needed to be performed during the Road Block task, but using what vehicle?

Answer: Go kart

Another difficult task for the Weaver family, this Road Block required that one member of each team hop into a go-kart at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona and perform a fifty-lap circuit around the track in a go-kart.

The Weavers, who lost their father in an accident on a race track, faced their fears once more (they had to ride around Talladega Superspeedway in an earlier leg) and completed the task. After the fifty laps (each) teams received the clue leading them to the Pit Stop, Fort McDowell Adventures in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

The Bransen Family, who arrived in last, were not eliminated.
6. In Leg 8, team members performed a harrowing airplane feat for the Road Block. Which participant does not match up with the task?

Answer: Linda Weaver

At the beginning of Leg 8, teams visited Fighter Combat International at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona and found their Road Block task quite early on. In this frightening task, one team member needed to hop into a fighter airplane and perform a 360 degree loop themselves (taking the controls) and wait for the plane to land before receiving their clue. Rather than Linda Weaver performing the task, Rolly completed it for the team.

Other participants included Megan Linz, Sharon Godlewski, Brian Paolo, and Lauren Bransen. After the Road Block, teams drove to the Grand Canyon for their next clue.
7. In Leg 9, which team was last to perform the Road Block task in Utah (as they had been Yielded)?

Answer: The Weaver family

Arriving at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, the Linz family (arriving first) made use of their Yield capabilities to set the Weaver family back, much like the Paolo family did back in Leg 6 in Costa Rica. As a result, the Weavers arrived at the Pit Stop in last place (though they were not eliminated).

In this Road Block, one member of each team needed to perform a ski jump off a ramp into an Olympic swimming pool to receive their clue. After this task, teams headed to the ninth Pit Stop on the roof of Salt Lake City's City Library.
8. In the second part of Leg 10 (a two-part leg of the race), teams performed a Road Block task as duos in which location in Montana?

Answer: Golf course

Arriving at the tenth tee of the Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course in Red Lodge, Montana, teams needed to choose two members to load into a gold cart and travel around the back nine holes of the course. Essentially, the teams of two needed to find four golf balls which matched the colour of a flag on their cart to receive their next clue.

After this Road Block, teams proceeded to the tenth Pit Stop, Larry Arnold's Green Meadow Ranch in Absarokee, Montana.
9. In the first half of the final Leg (in Quebec, Canada), one member of each remaining team had to complete a Road Block task behind which letter door?

Answer: J

Arriving in Montreal, Quebec, teams inevitably found their way to a building known as the Trapezium. Here, behind 'La Porte J' (or 'Door J'), one member of each team was required to perform in a flying trapeze. To receive their clue, the chosen member needed to catch a member of the circus troupe in order to advance.

After this penultimate Road Block task, teams spent the night in the center of the Montreal Olympic Stadium before moving on to their final tasks in Toronto, Ontario.
10. The final task of the race was a Road Block task. In the second half of Leg 12, what did team members need to do during the Road Block?

Answer: Reconstruct a map of North and Central America

For the final Road Block task, teams crossed the Niagara River from Queenston, Ontario back into the United States to find a Road Block task at Joseph Davis State Environmental Park (in Lewiston, New York). Here, one member of each team was required to recreate a large map of North and Central America using puzzle pieces shaped like different countries, states, and provinces.

After finishing this Road Block, teams were allowed to run to the Finish Line where the Linz family became the winners of the eighth "Amazing Race".
