Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Two Road Blocks were featured in British Columbia in Leg 1. Both of them involved which of these?

Answer: Heights

Leg 1 took the teams through the beautiful mountains outside of Squamish, B.C. for a couple of tasks involving adrenaline-pumping heights. In the first Road Block, teams took the Sea-to-Sky Gondola to Panorama Trail and signed up to perform a leap of faith, jumping off a cargo net into the open air to grab a stuffed beaver.

In the second Road Block, the other team member visited Squamish Days Loggers' Sports Festival where they had to climb a vertical 24m pole with spurs to collect their next clue.
2. There was no Road Block in the Yukon in Leg 2.

Answer: True

Likely because of the double Road Block seen in Leg 1, teams didn't need to make the choice in Leg 2, instead facing a Detour and the potential for a triple Express Pass situation. In the second leg of the race, teams traveled from Vancouver to Dawson City, Yukon, but they didn't encounter any Road Blocks along the way to the second Pit Stop which, surprisingly, turned out to be a non-elimination spot.
3. In Leg 3, teams faced two Road Block tasks. The second featured which of these?

Answer: Animals

While the first Road Block task in Leg 3 took teams to a motorsport circuit outside of Duncan, British Columbia to drive Corvettes, the second Road Block took teams to Pacific Northwest Raptors where, working with a bird of prey on their arm, they had to properly tie a falconer's knot to tether a bird to their glove in under fifteen seconds.

This task was completed by Akash, Anna, Mar, Taylor, Adam, Martina, Dylan, Zainab, and Mellisa before they all headed to the Pit Stop at the Kinsol Trestle.
4. Team members learned a traditional Saman dance in Leg 4, completing it before checking into the Pit Stop in what international city?

Answer: Jakarta

Leg 4 sent the remaining eight teams to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, where they had to complete exotic tasks of all sorts and face off against a potential Double U-Turn on foreign soil. The final task of the leg took teams to Kebayoran Baru where one member of each team needed to memorize and perform a Saman dance with several local dancers. If they could execute the moves in front of an audience, they could collect their next clue and proceed to the next Pit Stop at Jakarta's Merdeka Square. Nancy, Adam, Leanne, Monica, Taylor, Dylan, Phil, and Todd completed the task.
5. In the fifth leg of the race, teams completed a Road Block task themed around Stratford, Ontario's claim to fame-- which of these?

Answer: Acting

After spending a night driving around the Greater Toronto Area looking for a Chevrolet Assembly Plant (it was in Ingersoll, west of Toronto), teams spent most of their fifth leg of the race in Stratford, Ontario, known for its Shakespeare Festival, and one member of each team needed to perform a mock swordfight, learning a stage fighting routine, at the Festival Theatre. Once it was completed to a director's specifications, they could head on to the next task. Phil, Courtney, Courtney, Kwame, Mellisa, Zainab, and Mar finished up this task before picking up their Detour.
6. In Leg 6, team members filled Chevrolet Spark vehicles with which of these for their Road Block tasks in Toronto?

Answer: Urban essentials

Arriving in Toronto in Leg 6, teams inevitably found their Road Block tasks waiting in the centre of Yonge-Dundas Square in Downtown Toronto. Here, Taylor, Martina, Nancy, Mar, Dylan, Adam, and Monica joined into a Road Block in which they had to load up Chevrolet Spark vehicles with an assortment of 'urban essential items' and then, using the rear-vision camera, reverse and park the car in a designated spot.

When they called On-Star following the task, they could head out into the city on foot.
7. The seventh leg of the race featured a Road Block in which team members played darts.

Answer: False

While all of the racers played darts at a Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this preceded the Road Block in which team members headed to The Forks Market to become amateur magicians. After learning a cup-and-ball trick that they needed to perform for a group of children at the market, they then had to properly create a balloon animal dog. Once they completed both parts of the task, they could head onward to the next Pit Stop.

This task was done by Courtney, Leanne, Martina, Dylan, Adam, and Mellisa.
8. Which team member completed the Jai Aial Road Block task in Mexico in Leg 9?

Answer: Martina

Visiting Mexico City for the ninth leg of the race, teams visited the Frontón Mexico building near Plaza de la República to suit up and pick one member per team to learn the popular sport of Jai Alai, which involves using a unique, wicker scoop known as a cesta to hurl a ball across a court.

When the selected team member made one proper serve they could continue racing, but said serve needed to hit the wall properly and bounce into a designated range to count. Courtney, Courtney, Dylan, Mellisa, and Martina were chosen for this task.
9. In Leg 10 (in New Brunswick), racers needed to complete a Road Block task in which of these locations before heading to the Pit Stop?

Answer: Art gallery

In the penultimate leg of the race, teams traveled through Fredericton, New Brunswick and finished their final task at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. During this task, Taylor, Kwame, Adam, and Martina were asked to meet with an elder of the Wolastoquey people who would ask them questions in the Wolastoquey language.

They then needed to head into the gallery and determine the answer to those questions which, as they would find, were the titles of six paintings inside. Following this, teams headed to the Pit Stop.
10. The final leg of the race contained how many Road Block tasks?

Answer: Two

In Leg 11, teams flew to Calgary and Banff, Alberta for their last set of tasks before the finish line. The first Road Block awaited teams at Calgary airport where Courtney, Courtney, and Kwame needed to recite an ATIS weather report verbatim to an air traffic controller to get their next clue.

In Banff's Sunshine Village, the second team member (Taylor, Adam, and Dylan), completed the second Road Block task which involved skiing with some sled dogs and riding a GT racer along a mountain course.

This meant that three legs of the race-- Leg 1, Leg 3, and Leg 11-- contained double Road Blocks.
