Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Sharpe's Rifles" - Richard Sharpe meets his first wife in the pilot episode. What is her name?

Answer: Teresa

Teresa (Assumpta Serna) and Sharpe met in this episode and later married. Teresa reveals that she and Sharpe has a daughter in "Sharpe's Enemy". This is also the episode where Teresa is killed. La Marqesa appears in "Sharpe's Honour" played by Alice Krige. Elizabeth Farthingdale is in "Sharpe's Enemy" portrayed by Elizabeth Hurley and Lass in "Sharpe's Sword" is played by Emily Mortimer.
2. "Sharpe's Eagle" - What is the name of the Major who asks Sharpe for an Imperial Eagle?

Answer: Lennox

Major Lennox was a decorated officer that was killed in this episode by the French. His dying wish was to have an Imperial Eagle implanted by his grave. Sir Henry Simmerson is the arrogant officer in charge who also appears in more "Sharpe" movies. Berry is played by the current James Bond actor Daniel Craig and he is an officer that sides with Simmerson. Dobbs is seen being flogged at the start and Sharpe invites him to become apart of the Chosen Men at the end of the film.
3. "Sharpe's Company" - One of Sharpe's greatest adversaries makes his first appearance in this film. What is his name?

Answer: Sergeant Hakeswill

Obediah Hakeswill is played brilliantly by Pete Postlethwaite. Hakeswill murders Sharpe's wife Teresa and is eventually killed by a firing squad in "Sharpe's Enemy". Lord Wellington is in command of the British army and Sergeant Harper is Sharpe's closest friend. Sir Farthingale reluctantly accepts Sharpe to find his wife Elizabeth, also in "Sharpe's Enemy".
4. "Sharpe's Enemy" - What nationalities are the army of deserters that capture two women that Sharpe and the Chosen Men have to rescue?

Answer: British, French and Spanish

The army of deserters is led by Sharpe's nemesis Sergeant Hakeswill. After the mission, Sharpe is promoted to Major and given command of the 60th Rifles.
5. "Sharpe's Honour" - Which ruler is willing to sign a treaty to end the conflict with France?

Answer: King Ferdinand VII of Spain

All the other men were actual rulers of their countries in 1813 in which this episode was set in.
6. "Sharpe's Gold" - Who kills El Casco at the end of the film?

Answer: Sergeant Harper

Sharpe and El Casco have a duel that resulted in Sharpe being wounded. Harper comes in the last second to save Sharpe from a certain demise. Hagman and Perkins are members of the Chosen Men.
7. "Sharpe's Battle" - What is the name of the 'Lord' that Sharpe has an instant dislike to?

Answer: Kiely

Lord Kiely is in command of the Royal Irish Company that is also the bodyguard of the King of Spain. Some members of the company defect to the French and one of them kills Perkins who is the youngest member of the Chosen Men. The other names are related to the two actors Hugh Jackman and Ethan Hawke and the the soccer player Teddy Sheringham who all never made appearances in the "Sharpe" series.
8. "Sharpe's Sword" - What is the name of the English spy that Sharpe has to protect from the French?

Answer: El Mirador

Probably the closest Sharpe comes to death in this episode when he is badly injured in a sword duel with Colonel Leroux, the man sent to assassinate El Mirador. He eventually recovers after a "kill or cure" remedy where he is bathed in freezing water to overcome a fever. One of Sharpe's lovers Lass makes an appearance in this segment. El Miranda, Fernando and Jose Raul all have nothing to do with the series.
9. "Sharpe's Regiment" - Sharpe is engaged to whom by the end of this movie?

Answer: Jane Gibbons

Sharpe has admired Jane for many years and he shocked when Jane tells him she wants to marry him. Ellie Nugent appears in "Sharpe's Gold" and Lass is in "Sharpe's Sword". Anne Camoynes appears in this movie attached to Lord Fenner who acts against Sharpe at the start but later helps Sharpe to finally get troops to replenish the South Essex regiment.
10. "Sharpe's Siege" - Into which French city do Sharpe and the Chosen Men advance to start an insurrection against Napoleon?

Answer: Bordeaux

Sharpe gets married for the second time to Jane but it seems short lived when she contracts a fever that spreads through the army. Sharpe is reluctant to leave her but leaves for Bordeaux where he finds that the fever has also spread to the French. When he comes back, he finds Jane has recovered. On another note, this is probably one of the funniest episodes involving Sergeant Harper and problems with his tooth!
11. "Sharpe's Mission" - Which couple are engaged by the end of this movie?

Answer: Major Pyecroft and Zara

Pyecroft finds Zara deserted and buries her family after the masked gang led by Colonel Brand kills them. He takes her with him to protect her from the gang. They later get engaged by the end of the film. Major General Ross also appears in this segment and Harper and Ramona marry in "Sharpe's Sword".
12. "Sharpe's Revenge" - What is the name of the battle that Sharpe fights in, that results in Napoleon's exile?

Sharpe gets his revenge by beating Wickham in a duel but rather kill him, he is put on trial for the massacre of a small village that occurs earlier.
14. "Sharpe's Waterloo" - What rank is Sharpe given when he returns to duty for Prince William of Orange?

Answer: Lieutenant Colonel

Jane, Sharpe's adulterous wife, asks her lover Lord Rossendale to kill Sharpe but Rossendale is killed by the French at Waterloo. This is when Sean Bean announced his retirement from Sharpe. But....
15. "Sharpe's Challenge" - What is the name of the man Sharpe has a vendetta against ever since he wounded him fourteen years earlier in India?

Answer: Major William Dodd

...nine years later he returned as Richard Sharpe after a spell in Hollywood. Toby Stephens played Major Dodd and was also the "baddie" in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day". Hugh Fraser is an actor who portrays the Duke of Wellington and Samuel Levington is a name I made up.

The movie ends with Sharpe and Harper riding off in the sunset. Is this the final ever chapter? Thanks for playing!
