Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these happens in the first scene of the series, set "several million years ago"?

Answer: The city of Atlantis blasting into space from Antarctica several million years ago

The first scene of "Stargate Atlantis" starts with a small craft approaching, and then a spectacular shot of the city lifting off from the ice of Antarctica heading for the Pegasus Galaxy. We also see an Ancient woman watching the launch, and behind her there is the chair that is found by O'Neill in the "Stargate SG-1" episode "Lost City."
2. What message was on the champagne bottle sent through the Stargate by Jack O'Neill?

Answer: Bon Voyage

The simple message is attached to a magnum of Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial. It's opened at the end of the episode.
3. In "Rising", Dr. Beckett finds a hologram of an Ancient woman who tells him the history of Atlantis. In what other episode does she appear?

Answer: Before I Sleep

Actress Melia McClure plays the Ancient holographic recording who tells the history of Atlantis and warns of a powerful enemy. She appears again in "Before I Sleep", when Dr. Weir goes back in time ten thousand years and meets the Ancients.
4. In "Rising", what does Maj. Sheppard think of when he realizes that the Puddle-Jumper can read his mind?

Answer: A nice turkey sandwich

The reason that Ancient technology can read Sheppard's mind is that he has the Ancient gene needed for Ancient technology activation, and discovered by Dr. Beckett.
5. Col. Sumner dies when he is 'culled' by a Wraith.

Answer: False

Col. Sumner is shot by Maj. Sheppard as an act of mercy when Sumner is being tortured by a Wraith for information. Later in the series, Sheppard is the one who informs Col. Sumner's family of his death.
6. In "Hide and Seek", where does Maj. Sheppard shoot Dr. McKay?

Answer: Leg

Maj. Sheppard shoots Dr. McKay in the leg to test a personal force field. Fortunately, the field works and Dr. McKay is unharmed.
7. What nationality is Peter Grodin?

Answer: British

The scientists on Atlantis are from many countries; their nationalities are indicated by the flags on their uniform. In the "Stargate SG-1" episode "Disclosure" the existence of the Stargate is revealed to the governments of China, France and Britain. Since then many other countries must have been informed.
8. What is the name of the scientist who has an argument with Dr. Weir in "Thirty Eight Minutes"?

Answer: Dr. Kavanagh

Dr. Kavanagh believes Dr. Weir is being reckless, whereas she believes he is a coward. In "Letters From Pegasus", Dr. Kavanagh sends a list of complaints to Gen. O'Neill about Dr. Weir's leadership.
9. Actor Courtenay J. Stevens played Lieutenant Elliot in "Stargate SG-1" but what character did he play in the "Stargate Atlantis" episode "Childhood's End"?

Answer: Keras

Lt. Elliot appears in three episodes of "Stargate SG-1" before he gives his life to save SG-1. The character of Keras, played by Courtenay J. Stevens in "Atlantis", is also willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his people.
10. What name does Maj. Sheppard give to the Wraith he takes prisoner in "Suspicion?"

Answer: Steve

The captured Wraith refused to give his name, so Maj. Sheppard 'guessed' that it was Steve. In the episode "Poisoning the Well", Steve dies when he is exposed to a Hoffan poison.
