Daniel Jackson, played by Michael Shanks, loses his leg after getting frostbite from stepping in arctic sea water.

Shanks was unavailable to shoot in the arctic as he was working on other things. To explain his disappearance, writers added the disability to make Jackson unable to travel with the other.

In the alternate timeline created by Ba'al, Samantha Carter was the commander of the Space Shuttle Intrepid and was killed after bravely trying to save the shuttle when all the engines failed.

Phoenix is the name of the ship Carter was killed on in the "Stargate Atlantis" episode "The Last Man". This episode also took place in an alternate timeline.

In the episode "Uninvited", General Landry states his love for fulvous whistling ducks, saying he'd only spotted one once in his life. Cameron Mitchell, played by Ben Browder, uses this information when he tries to convince Gen. Landry that they know each other in an alternate timeline.

When out shopping, Carter sees an al'kesh flying over Washington, D.C.

Al'kesh are a type of small Goa'uld spaceships used as advanced scouts and medium-range bombers. Ba'al sends them to test Earth's defences.

Apophis, played by Peter Williams, was the main enemy of SG-1 at the beginning of the TV series. Apophis is described by Ba'al as the last of the System Lords to stand against him.

Daniel says this to the President who he is angry with for not allowing SG-1 to restore the timeline.

Henry Hayes, played by William Devane, is the President of the United States in the Stargate Universe. He first appears in the episode "Inauguration" which was set on the day he took office and was informed about the Stargate program.

In the episode "Ex Deus Machina", it is revealed that Ba'al, played by Cliff Simon, hid in the United States for several months. With the knowledge gained during this time, Ba'al contacts the President of the United States using a satellite phone he's kept in stasis and assures President Hayes that he has come to Earth seeking only peace and friendship.

Qetesh, played by Claudia Black, is Ba'al's Queen and the Goa'uld symbiote in possession of Vala Mal Doran's body. She states that Ba'al hasn't let her leave his side in more than 50 years. As Vala is much younger than this, Qetesh must have changed hosts during that time.

President Hayes and the Russian President, simply referred to as "Yuri", speak on the phone about Ba'al and how to defeat him.

Since the episode "Watergate", when it was revealed the Russians had their own Stargate program, the two countries had to work together to solve several extraterrestrial problems which often caused disagreements.

Depending on which episode you watch, Daniel says he can speak 23 languages. In the series he has been seen speaking Russian, German, Mandarin, Egyptian and Goa'uld.

Ba'al's fail safe uses solar flares to make the Stargate a means of travelling through time as well as space.

Throughout the series, the Jaffa seek freedom from Goa'uld oppression. "I die free" is repeated in several episodes by the resistance leader Bra'tac and his followers when they are facing death. The statement is a final act of defiance as it suggests freedom is a state of mind.
