Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 11, teams traveled from Spain to what other European country?

Answer: France

In Leg 11, teams headed out from the penultimate Pit Stop atop the Castell de Bellver in Palma, Spain. This time they were told to make their way to the airport in Palma to take a flight from Mallorca to Barcelona. From there they would need to board a train taking them into the Loire Valley in France.

When they arrived in Tours, France they found a row of Ford Escapes which they would be driving for the leg. Before heading out they needed to load up their trunks with eight crates using a special 'kick-open feature'.

They could then drive onward to Villandry, France for their next clue.
2. In Leg 11, Natalie and Nadiya had to complete a Speed Bump task involving which of the following?

Answer: A corset

Arriving in the city of Villandry, teams were told to locate the ornamental gardens at the Château de Villandry. Here they needed to find a stone dog statue to locate their next clue. En route, Natalie and Nadiya found their Speed Bump task which required that both members head into the château proper to find a woman in need of help tying her corset. Once they successfully weaved and tied the corset on, they could continue on to their next clue, the final Detour task of the race.
3. During the Detour task in Leg 11, teams could either choose 'Chow' or 'Plow'. In 'Chow', teams worked with which of the following animals?

Answer: Dogs

After the teams headed out from Villandry, they needed to head to a specific gate outside the Château d'Amboise. Here they could choose to complete either 'Chow' or 'Plow'. In 'Chow', teams had to assist the local hunting dog keepers by preparing a meal for several dogs.

This was done by cutting meat and weighing kibble for the dogs before spreading it out to specific standards. This was done by Josh and Brent and Natalie and Nadiya. In 'Plow', Trey and Lexi and Jaymes and James needed to attach a plow to a horse and properly mill four lines through a field. Once they completed this physical task they could carry on.
4. During the Road Block task in Leg 11, teams needed to search which of the following for mushrooms?

Answer: A series of caves

After the Detour task in Leg 11, teams drove themselves to the town of Bourré to locate les Caeves Champignons de Roches. Once there, teams headed into a market to find the Road Block task. For this one, one member of each team had to head to their Ford Escape, kick open the trunk, and take out the baskets they picked up.

Then, heading into the subterranean caves nearby they had to search mushroom farms to collect specimens matching three types found in the market. Once they brought back ten of each type they would receive their next clue. Lexi, Jaymes, and Brent were required to complete this task since they had to have an equal amount of Road Blocks completed; Natalie was chosen as well, but she and Nadiya had completed the Fast Forward and were able to complete an uneven amount of Road Blocks as a result.
5. Which team was eliminated in the penultimate leg of the race?

Answer: Natalie and Nadiya

After the Road Block, teams were told to drive themselves to the final Pit Stop of the race, the 'Castle of the Ladies', also known as the Château de Chenonceau. Here, Jaymes and James arrived just ahead of Trey and Lexi to claim their second first place victory. For winning this leg of the race, the two of them each won a 2012 Ford Escape.

At the end of the episode, Josh and Brent narrowly beat out Natalie and Nadiya even though the girls sneaked back ahead during the Detour. A wrong turn on the narrow streets of rural France cost the girls and they became the final team eliminated from the race.
6. What was the final destination city for this season of the race (as seen in Leg 12)?

Answer: New York City

In the final leg of the race, teams opened their last clues in the middle of the night outside the Château de Chenonceau. These clues told the teams to head to the airport in Paris to catch the next flight to New York City. Their clue was a mere postcard labeled 'Wish You Were Here!' The photo on the front was the front of Coney Island's boardwalk.

When teams touched down and hopped into their taxis, it took them a while to discover that their clue was actually a poster directing them to a specific address.
7. For the first Road Block of Leg 12 (back in the United States), team members needed to reenact a stunt by what famous magician?

Answer: Harry Houdini

Finding a poster of 'The Amazing Houdini' in front of Coney Island, the teams were directed to their first Road Block task at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. For this task, the selected team member (Trey, Jaymes, and Brent) needed to don a straitjacket and harness themselves into a crane. Dangling upside-down, fifteen storeys up, they needed to take off the jacket and then, without being told, take a bungee drop down.

After this task, the teams had to take a taxi to Little Italy.
8. In the final leg of the race, teams headed through the streets delivering which of the following?

Answer: Pizzas

Heading to Little Italy, the teams needed to locate America's first pizzeria and meet the owner to get their next clue. This took them to Lombardi's Pizza in Manhattan. Here, the teams discovered that they would need to deliver ten pizzas to three different addresses on foot (and using only their memory). If they delivered the wrong pizzas to the wrong spots they'd need to try again, delivering the proper order.

When they ended up returning to the pizzeria they received their next clue in the form of an emblem-- they headed to the UN Headquarters.
9. In the final Road Block of the race, team members completed a memory task involving which of the following?

Answer: Greetings and goodbyes

Arriving at the United Nations building, the teams found their final Road Block task of the race. Here, the teams were told to head to a nearby courtyard where they would be presented with nine flags, one for each country visited on the race. Using flags featuring the hellos and goodbyes said at each Pit Stop they needed to correctly match them all up.

This task was completed by Lexi, Josh, and James as they did not complete the first Road Block of the leg. The task proved difficult-- it took over two and a half hours before a team departed.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race 21"?

Answer: Josh and Brent

After the final Road Block task of the race, teams were told to make their way to the finish line of the race inside Manhattan's Gotham Hall. After a tense drive through the city streets it was Josh and Brent who stepped on the finish line mat after twenty-five thousand miles around the world. With no first-place finishes at any of the Pit Stops, they became the million dollar winners in this twenty-first race around the world beating out Jaymes and James in second place and Trey and Lexi who arrived in third.
