In the beginning of Leg 7, teams departed from the sixth Pit Stop in a race around the world, the Gateway to India and made their way forty miles out of Mumbai to Panvel, India. Once there, they needed to board a train to take them more than eight hundred miles across India to Ernakulam Junction in the country's southern tip. Due to the distance traveled, all six remaining teams departed on the same train which took over twenty-four hours to reach its final destination. Once at this train station, teams needed to hop into taxis to get to their next clue.

Arriving in Ernakulam, teams hopped into taxis and made their way to national Highway 47. Here, teams were required to drive down the road and find one billboard amongst a thousand which had red and yellow arrows on it. In front of this was the next clue box. Once there, teams needed to take their taxi an additional twenty-five miles to the town of Alleppey where they would need to locate a sports field within the village.

While teams received the Fast forward option at the billboard, none of the teams decided to take it.

Once at the Alleppy sports field, teams took a number and participated in the Road Block in which one member of each team needed to 'put up with a lot of bull'. In this Road Block, the selected team member needed to hold onto a series of bulls as they raced across a muddy field to a finish line. If that racer did not hold on, they would need to move to the back of the line until they made it the whole way.

This Road Block operated on a first-come-first-serve basis. David, Al, Tian, Jon, Chuck, and Reichen completed this Road Block task.

After the Road Block, teams were told to drive into Alleppey.

Answer: 'Trunks'

Once teams found Beach Road in Alleppey, they found the next clue box which contained a Detour. This Detour was a choice between 'Baskets' and 'Trunks'. in 'Baskets, which was completed by Reichen and Chip, teams needed to take bikes and transport ten chickens to a series of farms within the town of Alleppey.

In 'Trunks', which was completed by David and Jeff, Jon and Al, Kelly and Jon, Tian and Jaree, and Millie and Chuck, teams needed to load two bundles of coir onto an elephant and ride it to a single shop as highlighted on a map.

After the delivery, teams would receive their next clue.

After the Detour task, teams were given their final clue of the leg telling them to make their way to the seventh Pit Stop of the race at 'the finishing point' in Alleppey where the boats on the nearby lake finish their races. David and Jeff, who won the previous leg of the race, placed first in this leg to win themselves a Caribbean cruise vacation from Royal Caribbean. Tian and Jaree ended up being the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop and they became the sixth team to be eliminated from the race.

Departing from 'the finishing point', teams were instructed to fly five thousand miles to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. In order to do this, all five teams flew out of Cochin international in Southern Malaysia to larger hubs (Mumbai being the closest) and then straight to Kota Kinabalu on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo. Once in the proper Malaysian city, teams needed to make their way to the Monsopiad Cultural Village where they would receive a good luck blessing and another clue.

Leaving the Monsopiad Cultural Village in Penampang, Malaysia, teams were told to head to the Kota Kinabalu city boat jetty. Once there, they would need to hop into one of a set of marked boats and direct it to a fishing trawler on the ocean. Here, over the edge of the boat, teams found the Detour clue.

In the 'Trap' Detour task, teams needed to take their boat to a nearby fleet of lobster boats, hop aboard, and pull up heavy lobster traps in order to claim their next clue.

The second detour option of Leg 8 was 'Net' in which teams needed to direct their boat to a fishing platform on the sea and use a net to capture a total of fifteen fish in marked units. Once the fish were presented to a nearby fisherman, their next clue would be handed over.

This task was completed by Millie and Chuck, David and Jeff, and Kelly and Jon while 'Trap' was completed by Jon and Al and Reichen and Chip. After the Detour, teams were told to take their boat to the nearby Manukan Island.

Once teams docked on Manukan Island, they made their way down the pier to find the next clue, a Road Block task. For this Road Block, teams needed to choose one member whose skills were the most on-target. That person needed to complete three successive target games. First, they needed to use a bow and arrow, then a blowpipe, and then a spear to hit specific items along the beach. Once these particular tasks were complete, teams could move on. Jon, Chip, Chuck, Jeff, and Kelly completed this task.

After the Road Block, teams were instructed to run down to the location of the next Pit Stop on one of Manukan Island's sandy beaches. Jon and Al, who led the race coming out of the Detour, were the first team to arrive, checking in and claiming a vacation to Mexico as their prize for doing so. Kelly and Jon pulled into the Pit Stop in fifth and final place, but luckily they were saved by a non-elimination leg.
