"The Andy Griffith Show" Otis, the town drunk Quiz

There is an escaped convict from a surrounding prison who is seen in the Mayberry area. After Barney learns that the state police are going to be using the court house as a stand in command center, he wants to make it look like the Mayberry jail is just as busy as the big cities. Otis, at the time, is the only prisoner housed in the jail. Barney wants Otis to stay one more night, but Otis refuses because it is choir practice night.

Answer: Leg of lamb

Ellie, the new town drugist, decides to run for city council. Otis, a prisoner for hitting his mother-in-law with a leg of lamb, goes along with Andy's plan to financially cut off his wife to show her the woman's place in the home.

Answer: Tibbs

Two women from the Women's Historical Society dicover and deduce the descendant of the Revolutionary War hero, Nathan Tibbs, does live in town and it turns out to be none other than Otis Campbell. Barney, for a moment, thinks that it is him after doing his own research.

Answer: His birthday

A state inspector comes to pay a visit to the Mayberry jail and see if it's up to standards. Otis shows up the same day, drunk, and informs both Andy and Barney that it's his birthday. He calls the phone operator, Sarah, to see if anyone had called to wish him a happy birthday and becomes saddened when no one had called him.

Answer: Five thousand dollars

Otis, while affecting his own release again, trips and falls, causing his knee to start hurting. When a trip to see a notary public catches the eye of a shady lawyer, the lawyer convinces Otis to sue for five thousand dollars for pain and suffering due to negligence of the court house.

He ends up losing, or basically dropping the lawsuit, when he realizes that he'd actually tripped over his coat while leaving the cell.

Answer: Four

In the beginning of the episode, Opie shows up with one dog that eventually runs away. It returns with three more of its pals that Barney tries to convince him to take home. Otis's replay is "Yeah, but four dogs!"

Answer: Ralph

After receiving a letter at the jail from his brother and allowing Andy to read it, Otis is informed that his brother is coming for a visit and Andy learns that Otis had implied that he works at the jail. When Andy sees that Otis will be embarrassed when his family finds out he actually doesn't work at the jail, Andy lets him pose as a deputy while they are in town. Barney, by the way, is completely against the idea.

Answer: Jump rope

It's at the very beginning of the episode when Otis is trying to accomplish his own release. Barney doesn't think he's sober enough to leave and insists that Andy make him prove it by jumping rope. Barney's rhyme while demonstrating to Otis what to do is, "Call for the doctor, call for the nurse. Call for the lady with the alligator purse." Otis's rhyme he says before jumping is "Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and get some gin."

The jail becomes full once Andy rounds up a family of moonshiners. Not only is there no space to accommodate Otis, but the moonshiners are threatening to harm him because they believe he is the one who tipped off the sheriff about their operation. Once Otis becomes a prisoner in Andy's home and upsets Aunt Bee by acting like he would down at the court house, she gives him many chores to do while under her watch.

Answer: Luke

Barney wants to help Otis get to the root of his drinking problem, but it goes all wrong when Barney handcuffs him and arrests him one night while Otis is at a party. Otis then leaves town and goes to Mt. Pilot where he claims he's going to throw all his business their way. Another drunk, Luke, is there with him who comes from a good home and his mother was a nurse.
