Ernest T. sees how girls in the mountains "fall all over" guys in uniform, so he thinks if he wears one, then a girl will fall for him. In this episode, we discover how Ernest T. tried to court Hogette, but when he threw the rock in her window, it busted her scalp. "She's gone and married the taxidermist that sewed up her head," Ernest T. said.

Nope, Ernest T. never had his eye on Barney's Thelma Lou. He wanted to marry Charlene, even though she was already married to Dud Wash. He met Ramona at Mrs. Wiley's party and fell head over heels for her. When Ernest T. attended Helen's class at school to get some education, he fell for her when she hit him on the hand with a ruler.

Little fella, isn't he? The scene between Ernest T. and the doctor is one of my favorites. I especially like the part when the doctor asks Ernest T. to say "ahhhhh" when he looks down his throat. When the doctor examines Ernest T.'s ears, the mountain man asks, "What should I say for the ears?" The exasperated doctor replies, "Hush!" Gullible Ernest T. complies by saying, "Huuuuuuush."

At the beginning of the episode, Ernest T. enters the courthouse with a sack full of rocks. Barney demands to know what the rocks are for, and after Andy says that Ernest T. can't possibly get an education in a week, Ernest T. tells Barney and Andy that if he can't get an education, he'll bust every window in town.
