To make the story more interesting, ABC decided it would be a great idea to tell the babyswitch plot on both "AMC" and "OLTL" starting on March 23rd, 2004. In this episode, Paul Cramer of "OLTL" kidnapped Babe Carey's baby and gave it to Kelly Cramer. However, most of the story unfolded on "AMC".

It was stated that the baby who survived the helicopter crash (Paul actually staged it) was Babe's daughter. In reality, Babe had a son who was living in nearby Llanview. Krystal heard Tad say he was suspicious about the events which unfolded and he ordered that a DNA test be done.

The test confirmed Krystal's suspicion: The baby who was alive was Bianca's daughter and being raised by Babe. To spare her daughter grief, she changed the results to make it look like the baby was Babe's.

Babe was devastated to learn in a relatively short period of time that "Bess" was actually Bianca's baby, Miranda. Instead of tell Bianca the truth right away, she kept the baby but decided to appoint Bianca to be the godmother. JR and Babe tied the knot in June of 2004 but it was during the ceremony when Kendall blasted Babe since she suspected Babe was hiding something. Bianca, meanwhile, defended Babe but was unaware at the time what Babe had been keeping from her.

David conducted a secretive DNA test on "Bess" and was shocked to learn she was actually Miranda Montgomery. He confronted Krystal with the truth and Krystal admitted she knew all along. David planned to confess to Bianca this information but Krystal told him he was Babe's father.

She blackmailed him into keeping quiet by stating she would make sure he never got to be a dad to Babe if he told Bianca the truth. David agreed to keep his silence. Tad, Jamie and Adam would find out later on about "Bess" being Miranda.

Kendall agreed to give Bianca the heartbreaking news that her baby had died at the site where Paul staged the helicopter crash. She entered her hotel room and broke the news. Bianca cried out for her daughter but would not know until many more months that Miranda had indeed survived.

Babe went to a church one day during October of 2004 when Jamie arrived. Babe broke down to him about what she knew and that she realized what a huge mistake it was to keep Bianca from her daughter. Jamie informed her that he realized already how "Bess" was Miranda but that he would help Babe.

Jamie and Babe located Babe's son in Llanview and took him on the run to Disney World in Florida. Throughout one episode, the duo took the baby boy around the famed, popular Magic Kingdom park that was part of the Walt Disney World Resort. While there, Babe contacted Bianca since there was a benefit concert scheduled for there and requested she bring "Bess" with her. One evening in a hotel room, Babe told Bianca all of what transpired the night Paul staged the helicopter crash.

At first, Bianca did not believe that "Bess" was her daughter until the memories of that night flooded back. Bianca slapped Babe after admitted that she kept Bianca from her own daughter for all those months.

Erica was livid to learn of what Babe and Krystal did to Bianca by keeping Miranda from her for nearly a year. However, Bianca was in critical condition at the hospital after she fell from the hotel railing. Erica went to the hospital, saw Krystal and gave her a huge smack. Bobbie Eakes (Krystal) admitted that Susan Lucci (Erica) actually came in contact with her in that scene but she brushed it aside, laughingly stating how she packed a mean punch for a small lady.

Erica had a comatose Bianca flown back to Pine Valley so she could recuperate there at the hospital. In an emotional scene, Bianca started to open her eyes right as Erica placed Miranda in her arms. Both Bianca and Erica shared a hug since Bianca finally was reunited with Miranda just in time for Christmas.

Many "AMC" fans consider this scene to be one of the show's best Christmas moments.

Krystal, Babe, Jamie and David all were arrested for their role in the baby switch storyline. Bianca was seen testifying at all of their trials as they were before the judge. However, Krystal made a deal where she would serve a prison stint while the other three would receive community service.

The District Attorney and judge accepted this agreement, hence Krystal spent several months at a state penitentiary.
