Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following is NOT a member of the Morales family?

Answer: Rosita

Morales is played by Juan Pareja. He first appears in season 1, episode 2 "Guts." The episode originally aired on November 7, 2010 on AMC in the United States. Miranda is the wife of Morales (who just goes by his last name in the show). Their son is Louis and their daughter is Eliza. Rosita is another character in "The Walking Dead" who is unreleated to Morales.

Her last name is Espinosa.
2. In "Guts," how does Morales help Rick to get to safety in the department store after Rick escapes the walker-surrounded tank?

Answer: He beats back walkers with a baseball bat while Rick runs inside

In season 1, episode 2, "Guts," Glenn is the primary person to help rescue Rick from the tank, but when they are running for the safety of the department store, T-Dog and Morales emerge in riot gear with baseball bats and beat off the walkers while Rick and Glenn get safely inside.
3. When Rick's group decides to go to the CDC, Morales parts ways with them. Where does he say he is taking his family instead?

Answer: Birmingham

In season 1, episode 5, "Wildfire," Morales declines to join the group on its journey to the CDC. He tells them that he will instead take his wife in kids and head to Birmingham, Alabama. There, he hopes to find other members of his family.
4. Which of the following things does Rick NOT give to Morales before they part ways?

Answer: An armored car

Morales takes his own car. Rick gives the departing family a box of ammunition and a gun to protect themselves on the road. He also gives them a walkie talkie so they can contact the group if they change their minds and later decide to rejoin them. Eliza Morales gives her friend Sophia her doll, which Daryl later finds when searching for Sophia.
5. When Rick re-encounters Morales later in season 8, where is he?

Answer: At a Savior's outpost

Rick discovers Morales when he raids a Saviors outpost in season 8, episode 3, "Monsters." Rick talks with Morales, who berates Rick for his raid and calls him a monster.

Morales tells Rick, "You can talk all you want. You can say all the words. Lori, Shane, Andrea, Glenn. They're all dead, and somewhere along the way, 'Officer Friendly' died right along with them. Just like I did."
6. How did Morales die?

Answer: Shot by Daryl using a crossbow

In the season 8 episode "Monsters," Daryl kills Morales because Morales has a gun trained on Rick. Daryl sneaks up behind him, and when Morales turns, Daryl shoots him with his crossbow. When Rick asks Daryl if he knows who it was he just shot, Daryl replies, "I know who it was. It doesn't matter. Not one little bit."
7. Which of the following does Morales NOT have in common with the characters of Shane Walsh and Merle Dixon?

Answer: All three had a change of heart and died as heroes

Shane, Merle, and Morales were all introduced in season one and were acquainted with Rick. All three also became antagonists on the show at some point, Shane when he turned on Rick, Merle when he joined the Governor (if not before), and Morales when he joined the Saviors. But only Merle had a change of heart and died a hero by trying to take out the Governor and paring down his forces.
8. Morales is the only "Walking Dead" character to have left the show and then reappeared in a later season.

Answer: False

Merle left in season 1 but then later reappeared at Woodbury in season 3. Morgan was left behind in season 1 but reappeared in season 3 (and then he left the show and reappeared again in season 5 and then left again). Maggie left the show after season 9, episode 5, but showrunner Angela Kang confirmed she would be returning at the end of season 10.
9. What happened to Morales's children?

Answer: They died some time before Morales ended up near D.C.

Morales's wife and two children were killed at some point during his journey to Birmingham. He says they never made it to Alabama, though he doesn't specify how his family died. Their loss caused him to go insane, and he tried to "sleep himself to death," but the Saviors found him. Joining the Saviors gave him a sense of purpose again.
10. How long was Morales absent from the show before he suddenly reappeared?

Answer: 95 episodes

As of season 10, Morales had the longest absence of any character to reappear on the show, with a six-season absence (95 episode total). All told, Morales appeared in six episodes of "The Walking Dead." In season 1, he appeared in "Guts," "Tell It to the Frogs," "Vatos," and "Wildfire." He reappeared in season 8 for two episodes, "The Damned" and "Monsters."
