Answer: Axl, Sue and Brick

Axl is the eldest, the typical teenage lad who thinks he is god's gift to everything, when in fact he really is just a typical girl chasing, chore dodging, half decent sports player. Sue on the other hand is the total opposite: very goofy, very accident prone and has absolutely no sense of direction. Finally, Brick, yes Brick, the baby of the Hecks; although a genius and one of the most incredible readers of books, this young man outsmarts all the others, but fails in social etiquette.

Mike Heck is a massive Indianapolis Colts fan and his life basically revolves around sports on TV, which is good for his relationship with Axl. However, Frankie tends to allow the rigours of the day to influence her mood and it is often seen that she just wants to watch a weepy or sit with her kids and eat potato chips whilst slurping soda.

In the episode 'Super Sunday' (series 2 episode 13), Frankie is given the role of working while the Super bowl comes to Indianapolis. Full of joy she later has her hopes dashed when in fact she is sent to a parking lot in the small suburb of French Lick, which sort of sums up the bad luck the Hecks tend to suffer.

Although Mike is as mentioned a no nonsense guy, he does have a heart and a good one at that. He often questions his family surrounding their decisions and will often turn things into his way of thinking, but after thinking, Mike often backs down just so his family feels better.

Answer: "You do for family"

Frankie is a super mum. She may not be the tidiest or even the most organised, but she looks after three kids, runs a house, looks after ailing older relatives and holds down a job in a car salesroom.

I like her, she can be my mum if she likes.

Answer: Patricia Heaton

Double Emmy Award winning Patricia has been in the TV game for quite a while and is famed for appearing in the CBS sitcom 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. Her major success in 'The Middle' landed her a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in May of 2012. I do hope to see much more of Mrs. Heaton on 'The Middle' for a long time to come.

Answer: Neil Flynn

Mr Flynn has had a career spanning nearly 25 years. Many of his roles have been minor but he appeared in programs such as 'Scrubs' and 'Clone High USA'.

Atticus Shaffer plays the youngest child Brick, Charlie McDermott plays Axl and Chris Kattan plays Bob, Frankie's work buddy.

Answer: Don Ehlert

Mr Ehlert is pretty much a male chauvinist, who looks at Frankie as a bit of a fly in the ointment. His character is a no nonsense kind of guy who runs his business to make as much money as possible even if really he makes seemingly very little.

Brian Doyle Murray plays the part very well and is the brother of comedian Bill Murray who appeared in numerous films like 'Groundhog Day', 'Ghostbusters II' and 'Caddy shack'.

Answer: Wonder Woman

Poor Frankie, not only does her youngest son idolise her, which she later found out wasn't really the case, she had to run around and make sure everyone gets to school on time and then get to work herself. She was in one of those bad moods when she got to work, however, a fellow mother who wished to buy a car soon helped to cure her of her doom. Frankie was on for a sale and knew that this could be a turning point in her career, but one problem, she needed to go to Brick's school presentation as Wonder Woman. Not to be put off, she took her customer out on a test drive via her house. Then off to school she went only to be told she is a week early. Not to feel too deflated she then had her customer drive out of town into the middle of nowhere. Sadly, her customer duped her and when she heard a 'noise' under the car Frankie got out to inspect the under carriage.

On her hands and knees in a Wonder Woman outfit Frankie watched her customer speed off and leave her stranded, oh poor Frankie, and there was born the start of this wonderful comedy.

Answer: Cross country running

Sue Heck is a character you just cannot fail to love. Her determination to succeed in anything is a really admirable thing to watch. She knows she is hopeless at pretty much everything and fails at pretty much everything, but she never fails to smile and give her best and her all. Sue, played by Eden Sher, is the type of character that can steal a show.

The Gracie Award is awarded to women in the television industry, or more concisely the Electronic Media.

'The Middle' was awarded the Gracie due to the brilliance of the creators Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline. It also was awarded for the excellence portrayed by both Patricia Heaton and Eden Sher (Sue Heck) within the show.
