Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Survivor: All-Stars", whom did Alicia think had an alliance from a previous season and that they were sticking to it?

Answer: Ethan, Lex, and Big Tom

Buddies from Africa, Ethan, Lex, and Big Tom formed a strong, tight bond that almost carried them to the Final Three. However, Kim Johnson won Immunity, so the three men were forced to turn against one another. Big Tom voted for Lex, and Ethan, Lex, and Kim voted for Big Tom.

Then Kim won the last Immunity Challenge, ensuring that only she was safe from the vote. She could pick either Lex or Ethan to go up against in the Jury vote. She chose Ethan and voted Lex out of the tribe. Ethan won against Kim Johnson in a 5-2 vote, but I think it would have been interesting if Ethan, Lex, and Big Tom had made it to the Final Three.
2. In "Survivor: Guatemala", which male "Survivor" contestant was perceived as a physical competitor who could help his tribe win challenges, but he struggled with the elements?

Answer: Blake

Bobby Jon also struggled with the elements, but recovered before Blake. The elements and dehydration took a bigger toll on Blake's health, endurance, and physical stamina than Bobby Jon. Gary is an ex-NFL quarterback who told his tribe that he works as a landscaper. Judd is a big man who works as a hotel doorman. Bobby Jon was also a contestant in "Survivor: Palau."
3. In "Survivor: All-Stars", the loved ones had to eat a series of insects and indigenous delicacies. Which of the following was NOT eaten in a disgusting food challenge on a previous season before "Survivor: All-Stars"?

Answer: a fish head

Fafaru, which Boston Rob had a hard time downing, was eaten in "Survivor: Marquesas", witchity grubs were eaten in Australia and the Amazon, and the boiled tarantula was eaten in Thailand. The first course the loved ones had to eat in "Survivor: All-Stars" was fish heads, from the "Panamanian waters" of the Pacific Ocean. Jeff Probst told the "All-Stars"' loved ones that all of the foods they had to eat were from previous "Survivor" seasons.

However, before "All-Stars", fish heads had not been eaten in a challenge!
4. In "Survivor: Vanuatu", did Chris, the winner, really say the following: "I'm going to burn every one of them. This vote is for you, not against you"?

Answer: Yes

Chris from Vanuatu didn't say, "I'm going to beat every one of them," referring to the women when he was the only man left in the tribe after the merge, he said, "I'm going to burn every one of them." This season showed us that sometimes the underdog wins. Even when the odds are against you, when you're playing the game of "Survivor", you must never give up.
5. In "Survivor: The Australian Outback", with whom did Colby Donaldson spend a night in his new Pontiac Aztek as reward for winning a challenge?

Answer: Colby's mom

When "Survivor: The Australian Outback" was over, Bryant Gumbel said to Colby, "You won every Reward Challenge, you won every Immunity Challenge, you won everything, but you didn't win the game! Isn't that like a guy goin' out and getting 18 holes in one, and he doesn't win?" Actually, Colby didn't win every Reward and Immunity.

He won almost every Reward and Immunity. As I remember, Keith won Immunity at least once after the merge and Nick beat Colby and won Immunity once in a physical showdown. Colby and "Survivor" host Jeff Probst are good friends.
6. In the first season of "Survivor", who did Sean vote for using his alphabetical strategy and caused him/her to be voted out?

Answer: Jenna Lewis

Sean voted in alphabetical order after the merge, which was odd. He voted for Jenna, causing her to be voted out. Jeff Probst said Sean was "the smartest dumb guy to play the game" in the "Survivor: Borneo" DVD commentary.
7. Which TWO "Survivor" contestants, who didn't win, never received a single vote against them?

Answer: Mike Skupin and Paschal English

Mike fell into the fire and was airlifted dramatically from the game and Paschal was the victim of the purple rock in "Survivor: Marquesas", although he never received a vote against him. Jenna Morasca and Sue Hawk didn't receive any votes against them in "Survivor: All-Stars," but they did in their original seasons. Plus, Jenna M. won "Survivor: The Amazon".

Helen Glover and Colleen Haskell were favorites to win in their series, but they were voted against. Ethan Zohn and Sandra Diaz-Twine didn't receive any votes against them (not including Ethan's experience in "Survivor: All-Stars"), but they are winners.
8. In "Survivor: The Amazon", who wanted to get rid of Alex because she perceived him to be her greatest physical threat in challenges, but then when she told her alliance, they voted her out?

Answer: Deena

"Survivor: The Amazon" introduced us to Rob Cesternino, "the smartest player to never win," and it was an interesting and unpredictable season at times. It started as a battle of the sexes. After the merge, Roger thought it still was a gender war, but a new alliance consisting of Rob, Jenna, Heidi, Deena, and Alex was born. Butch, Christy, and Matt were on the outside because they weren't in the majority, but Rob needed their votes when he found out that Alex was going to vote against him if they made it to the final four.
9. What is the name of the tribe that lost the most number of consecutive Immunity Challenges?

Answer: Ulong

The Ulong tribe didn't win a single Immunity Challenge in "Survivor: Palau." However, Stephenie and Bobby Jon returned to compete in "Survivor: Guatemala."
10. In what country did "Survivor: Africa" take place?

Answer: Kenya

"Survivor: Africa" was filmed in the Shaba Nature Reserve in Kenya, Eastern Africa.
