Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first episode, King Robert Baratheon says "In my dreams, I kill him every night." To whom is the King referring and why?

Answer: Rhaegar Targaryen because he kidnapped Lyanna Stark

While Robert is visiting Winterfell, he visits the memorial of Lyanna Stark located down in the crypts. Lyanna, Ned Stark's sister, was promised to Robert before she was kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen. Robert started the rebellion because she was taken from him. Fans of the show will notice hints that Lyanna was not actually kidnapped, but she ran away to be with Rhaegar.
2. At the end of his training, what must an Unsullied kill to prove he has no mercy or weakness?

Answer: A newborn slave child

Daenerys travels to Astapor to buy an army. She has heard of the Unsullied, who are elite warriors known to show no fear and unquestioning obedience. She meets with one of the slave masters, Kraznys mo Nakloz, who shows a squadron of Unsullied to her. Daenerys learns Unsullied are trained from the age of five to fight and feel no emotion.

The slave master has one of the Unsullied sliced across the chest to show that the warrior does not even flinch at the pain. To prove the Unsullied kill without question or mercy, they have to kill a newborn slave child to complete their training. Upon learning this, Daenerys has to appear pleased to keep up appearances, but we know she is making a plan to destroy the cruel slave masters and make the Unsullied free men.
3. When Arya Stark plays the game of faces with Jaqen H'ghar, Jacqen hits Arya with a switch when he knows she is telling a lie. Arya talks about escaping King's Landing and says, "I had to kill a stable boy. I stabbed him in the back." Jacquen hits her. Why?

Answer: Arya stabbed the boy in the stomach, not the back

In season one, Arya stabbed a stable boy in the belly with Needle while trying to flee the city. It is the first time she killed anyone. If Arya is to become a servant of the Many-Faced God, she is going to need to learn to spin stories that feel as real as the truth.
4. What distinct feature does Brienne of Tarth recall about the entity that killed Renly Baratheon?

Answer: It had Stannis Baratheon's face

The shadow assassin, more affectionately known as the shadow baby, was brought forth after a coupling between the Red Woman (Melisandre) and Stannis Baratheon. While Melisandre was the one who physically brought the shadow forward, Stannis ordered the murder, so it is only fitting that the shadow should have his face.
5. The Hound says, "Killing is the sweetest thing there is." To whom does he say this, and why?

Answer: To Sansa in an attempt to scare her out of her fantasy world

It's pretty obvious that the Hound cares for Sansa. Out of all the characters she encounters, he is the only one who truly tries to help her. One such event is when he saves her from the men who abduct her during the riots. Later, when she tried to thank him, the Hound is being his usual gruff self. Sansa scolds him for always being so cruel.

He tells her that killing is the sweetest thing, and while she tells herself otherwise, even her noble father loved to do it too. When Sansa is distressed, she tends to revert to her old ways of believing life is like one of her stories where ladies are beautiful and all knights are chivalrous.

When the Hound tells her things like this, he is trying to get her to see the world for what is really is so she can better protect herself.
6. Before he was killed, Ser Rodrik Cassel said which haunting last words?

Answer: "Gods help you, Theon Greyjoy. Now you are truly lost."

Rodrik was beheaded by Theon Greyjoy. Theon and men from the Iron Isles had taken Winterfell while Robb was out fighting the war. Rodrik refused to take Theon's orders so Theon thought to make an example of him.
7. "I am your master! Kill her! Kill her!" Kraznyz mo Nakloz is yelling at whom to kill Daenerys?

Answer: The Unsullied

Daenerys agrees to give her dragon, Drogon, to Kraznyz mo Nakloz in return for 8,000 Unsullied warriors. When the trade is complete, Kraznyz mo Nakloz goes to leave with Drogon and is angered when the dragon will not obey him. At this point, Daenerys reveals that she does not intend to part with her dragon or the Unsullied and things are not going to end well for Kraznyz mo Nakloz.

He begins yelling at the Unsullied to kill Daenerys, but they will not obey as he is no longer their master. Daenerys then instructs the Unsullied to kill the slave masters.
8. During the battle of Blackwater, Tyrion Lannister gives a speech to lift morale among those defending King's Landing. You may remember him saying, "Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!" The "them" he is referring to are troops led by whom?

Answer: Stannis Baratheon

Stannis Baratheon leads the troops attacking King's Landing during the battle of the Blackwater. Ser Loras Tyrell is there, but he fights on the side of Tywin Lannister. Loras is wearing Renly's armor during the battle, and some soldiers talk later about being saved by the ghost of Renly.
9. Whose death does Arya Stark witness at the notoriously killer Red Wedding?

Answer: Grey Wind

The Hound brings Arya to the Twins in hopes of collecting a ransom from her mother, Catelyn Stark. The Starks are at the Twins to celebrate the wedding of Edmure Tully, Catelyn's brother, and Roslin Frey. Before the Hound and Arya can enter the Frey Great Hall, fighting breaks out.

While hiding behind a stack of barrels, Arya watches Frey men shoot and kill Grey Wind. Grey Wind was locked in a cage and unable to fight off his attackers as they shot arrows into the cage. While Robb Stark was killed during this event, Arya did not see it happen. Edmure was taken prisoner and the Blackfish presumably escapes.
10. "You killed her children. Say her name!" Prince Oberyn Martell is shouting at the Mountain to say what name?

Answer: Elia

Oberyn volunteers to fight the Mountain as Tyrion's champion. The driving force behind this being that the Mountain killed Oberyn's sister, Elia Martell, and murdered her children during the rebellion. Elia was married to Rhaegar Targaryen and it is believed her death was ordered by Tywin Lannister.
