Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the episode, we see a man on a bridge who has placed explosives along the bridge itself, preparing for it to collapse,. He asks for the Epps brothers and proceeds to ask Charlie questions. The man says he will throw away a detonator every time Charlie gets a question right, and detonate one if he answers incorrectly. What does the man mean when he asks "how many questions can [Charlie] afford to get wrong"?

Answer: Before the bridge collapses

Charlie quickly deduces what the man means, knowing that if six bombs are set off, the arches on the bridge will drop and bring the bridge with it. Charlie realizes he has to answer as many questions correctly as he possibly can.
2. One of the questions the man asks is about Francis Bacon's four obstructions to the Scientific Method, the first question Charlie misses. They are written in Bacon's book "The Idols of the Mind". Which of the four does Charlie not remember?

Answer: The Marketplace

After the man on the bridge asks the question, Charlie tells the man they are written in the "Idols of the Mind". Charlie immediately names the cave, the theater, the tribe, but hesitates on answering the fourth. He takes too long to answer and the man detonates a bomb.

The man tells Charlie that he is not testing only his mind, but also his heart. He then tells Charlie and the FBI agents on the scene that he is going to give over his life work to them.
3. After the events on the bridge, a few of the FBI agents do some background work on the man. Which government agency did the man on the bridge work for?

Answer: MI6

The man, identified as Taylor Ashby, works for a large international intelligence corporation called Blackrain. He holds dual citizenship between The UK and the United States, and was fired by British intelligence. On asking why, his boss told the FBI that Ashby was a very good cryptographer back in the day, but could not transition from ink and microfilm, so MI6 fired him.
4. Ashby has tried to make the Janus List go public. Which profession did the person he speak with regarding this do?

Answer: Reporter

Charlie remembers the Wheat and Chessboard problem that Ashby asked him on the bridge, and uses that to see if he can find out any more information. Charlie is able to use the stratalling checkerboard equation to get the letters NAOMIVAUGHNALALEDGERORG, which they are able to separate to get naomivaughn@laledger.org, a news reporter.
5. David and Colby go to Ashby's apartment to gather any information and items that can help the FBI know more about him. They find a handful of listening devices. Which of the following is not one apparently found?

Answer: Chinese

David and Colby notice that the fire alarm and a light switch were noticeably crooked or scratched up, prompting them to investigate. They end up finding bugs in both of those, along with four other listening devices. The FBI techs have identified one as Russian, another Israeli, and one as the NSA itself.
6. Ashby sent an email to the person who he tries to get to make the List public. What does the email contain?

Answer: Code

Amita and Charlie take a look at Ashby's emails to Naomi, and they notice one that is much larger than the rest. When they open it, all it contains are zeros and ones. Seeing this, the two mathematical prodigies think this is a form of cipher.
7. The person Ashby talks to is taken to an FBI safe house. Which two agents are sent to guard her?

Answer: Colby and Megan

After the FBI realizes Naomi Vaughn may be in danger, they put her in a safe house and take away her phone and anything that could be used to track her. Megan and Colby are both assigned to keep watch of her until the time is safe for her to go home.
8. Three hitmen come to the house to kill those there. Of the following, which do the hitmen not bring with them?

Answer: Switchblades

Three hitmen, with noticeably British accents, are sent to kill those at the safe house. After getting out of the car, they kill the power to the house, put on body armor, get their suppressed guns out, and prepare to enter the house. Before getting inside, they put on their night vision goggles because they know that their will be no source of light coming from inside the house, giving them an advantage.
9. Charlie and Amita finally locate the Janus List. Where is it located?

Answer: A voice mailbox

After figuring out what the code in Ashby's email to Naomi is, Charlie and Amita are able to solve it. The code translates to "Janus is in your mailbox". Charlie then realizes Ashby could've set up a second voicemail account from Naomi Vaughn's phone without her knowledge. Ashby has, and Charlie and Amita find the voicemail.

It starts off with Ashby saying "Welcome to the Janus List", and begins naming the double agents.
10. The Janus List names double agents. The following names which government one on the list claims they work for yet works on another country's behalf. Which of the following is not one of them?

Answer: United States working for the Germans

MI6 Agent Richard Collins is exposed working for the Russians. Russian SVR Agent Andrei Goronov is revealed to be working on the South Korean's behalf. French Secret Service Agent Laurent Dassin is working for the United States. United States Counterintelligence Agent Dwayne Carter is working for the Chinese. Shockingly, United States FBI Agent Colby Granger is also working for the Chinese.

There are no US double agents working for the Germans.
