Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Raquelle Welch

Answer: Maryann, "Gilligan's Island"

Tina Louise was already cast as Ginger, and they thought she had to much sex-apeal for Maryann. Ironically, Maryann (Dawn Wells) ended up getting more fan mail from men than Ginger!
2. Caroll O'Connor

Answer: The Skipper, "Gilligan's Island"

They thought Alan Hale Jr brought more of a "teddy-bear" quality to the role.
3. Jerry Van Dyke

Answer: Gilligan, "Gilligan's Island"

He was actually offered the role, but turned it down to do "My Mother, The Car"!
4. Gale Gordon

Answer: Fred Mertz, "I Love Lucy"

He played the other 3 roles. He couldn't afford to give up the radio version of "Our Miss Brooks" for the tv show. He took over for Mr. Wilson when Fred Kearns passed away.
5. Buddy Ebsen

Answer: Davy, "Davy Crockett"

Fess Parker already had the role, but they liked his reading so much that they built up the role of Georgie Russell for him.
6. Mickey Dolenz

Answer: Fonzi, "Happy Days"

They thought he was to0 well known as one of "The Monkees" to be believable as The Fonz.
7. Courteney Cox

Answer: Rachel, "Friends"

I think she's more believable as the sister of Ross (David Schwimmer) than his love interest, anyway!
8. Jean Stapleton

Answer: Jessica Fletcher, "Murder, She Wrote"

She turned the role down, and it was then played by Angela Lansbury.
9. Arnold Schwarzenegger

Answer: The Hulk, "The Incredible Hulk"

Even at 6'2", they considered him too short for the role! It went to Lou Ferigno, who was 6'5".
10. Rue McClanahan

Answer: Rose, "The Golden Girls"

She had played that sort of role before, and insisted on playing Blanche. Rose was then played by Betty White.
