Scully had originally answered that hopefully she'd choose to be herself. Mulder objected on the basis of her response being boring, and asked, "wouldn't you even be tempted to try out someone else's existence for a day, live your life as somebody else?" Scully reminded him that "Looking like someone else, Mulder, and being someone else are completely different things." Mulder didn't deny Scully's point, but countered that "everybody else around you would treat you like you were somebody else, and ultimately maybe it's other people's reactions to us that make us who we are." After a brief pause, Scully caved and said she'd be Eleanor Roosevelt, but Mulder objected to that one too, saying it had to be a living person.

Answer: no

Eddie offered, and Mulder eagerly nodded his interest. As Eddie undid his belt, though, Scully exclaimed "No!" Eddie stopped, but both he and Mulder looked disappointed.

Answer: Baboo

Fred always addressed his wife as "Baboo," and when Eddie used it from within the bathroom, her suspicions seemed to melt away and she called him "Sugar Patootie."

Mulder opened the stairs to the attic, and out fell the body amidst quicklime. A long tail protruded from the tailbone of the original monkey man. Mulder jokingly asked, "You think the fall killed him?"

In the morgue, Scully had just commented that the quicklime had helped to keep the unusual body "preserved and intact" when Mulder decided to touch the corpse. Sure enough, the tail snapped off in his hand. Mulder unsuccessfully struggled to fit the tail back onto the stump, but eventually settled for simply balancing it on the body long enough for him to walk out of the morgue.

As the door closed behind him, the tail fell off the body onto the floor, much to Scully's bewilderment.

It seemed like he'd gone there to find out how Amanda felt about him, but she didn't help his mood; all she had to say was what a loser he was! Eventually, he just handed her the red rose, saying "I wanted to congratulate you on this ... blessed event."

Answer: charcoal suit

When Mulder went to see Amanda in the hospital, Fred called to ask if their bathroom was safe yet. Apparently, Mulder had "said the police were going to come by and dust it for some fingerprints but that was over four hours ago." Fred seemed a bit peeved, saying "We want to help you catch this guy, but I gotta say I'm having a real hard time here. I mean, how exactly do you wind up chasing a suspect into my bathroom?" When his wife reminded him, he added, "And what do you need with my charcoal suit?" At that point, Mulder figured out that Eddie was impersonating him and had just been in Amanda's room.

Answer: "You're a damn good looking man."

When Eddie fell on him, Mulder was knocked unconscious and Eddie was able to take him down to the basement of the hospital and lock him in a cage with access limited to the janitor.

Scully was clearly a bit shocked to hear Mulder calling the investigation a waste of time and asked, "Now you think there's no X-File here?" Eddie (who'd never heard of an X-File) was confused for a moment but recovered, saying, "No. No, I think the only thing here is uh... small potatoes." This hearkened back to what Eddie had said as Eddie Sr.: that his father had cautioned him, "You ain't much to look at. You ain't no athlete, and you sure the hell ain't no Einstein.

But at least you got that tail.

Otherwise you're just small potatoes."

Skinner sighed after reading it and asked who had written it. Eddie said he had, and Skinner derisively pointed out that he'd "spelled Federal Bureau of Investigation wrong." Eddie tried to pass it off as a typo, but Skinner replied that the misspelling had occurred twice.
