"Yellowstone" is a modern-day western television series. You won't tire of the scenery. Although the show is set in Montana, it is filmed in Montana and Utah. The show is fresh with cowboys, horses and cattle. It certainly does not lack drama! Yeehaw!

The Paramount Network was created in 2018 and is owned by Viacom Media Networks. It started as TNN (The Nashville Network) then was renamed The National Network. In 2003 it catered to the young male audiences as Spike TV. Spike gradually became a reality-based network until relaunching as Paramount in 2018.

Kevin Costner plays billionaire rancher, John Dutton. He is the patriarch and central figure of the show. He owns the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, one of the largest ranches in the US.

Kevin Costner is an award winning actor, producer and director. He has starredin many feature films such as "Dances with Wolves", "JFK", "Tin Cup" and "The Bodyguard". Two of my favorite films of his are "Wyatt Earp" and "The Untouchables".

Kayce Dutton was a US Navy Seal. Not much has been mentioned in the early seasons but while Kayce was in Pakistan he returned fire on a target and killed him, his wife and their child. Kayce is married to a Native American woman named Monica. They have a son named Tate.

Kayce is played by Luke Grimes. He is a ranch hand and horseman.

John has four children. He is the father to Lee, Jamie, Beth and Kayce. The family dynamics in season one are on fire! Family dinners are a bit stressful!

Answer: Rip Wheeler

Rip Wheeler has been with the Dutton Ranch since he was a child. After he witnessed his father kill his mother and brother, Rip took a frying pan to his father's head and killed him. He ran away and was hiding out. The sheriff suggested he work at the Dutton Ranch. Rip worked his way up to ranch foreman. He is John's right hand man and one of his biggest confidants. He definitely gets his hands dirty. He also has some steamy episodes with Dutton's daughter, Beth.

Rip's character is played by Cole Hauser.

Answer: Horse accident

Evelyn Dutton is played by Gretchen Mol.

She was riding horses with young Kayce and Beth when her horse was spooked. The horse threw her then landed on her. She died before help could arrive. This event sets the groundwork for the anger and guilt felt between the surviving family members.

The Broken Rock Reservation is said to be near Bozeman, Montana. Early in the series we are introduced to Thomas Rainwater, the new chief. His goal is to protect and reclaim the tribe's land. John Dutton is definitely not a fan of Chief Rainwater.

Thomas Rainwater is played by Gil Birmingham.

Answer: Jamie

Jamie Dutton is the oldest of the Dutton children. In the first season, you sense that he and Beth have some long-standing conflict. His father filled out his college application for him and he went to Harvard Law. Upon graduating he returned to the ranch and sometimes handles his father's legal needs.

Jamie is played by Wes Bentley.

Answer: Lee

The Broken Rock Indians had stolen cattle from the Duttons. At that time, Kayce was working with the Broken Rock Indians because of his marriage to Monica, a Native American and one of the tribe members. Lee Dutton and several ranch hands went to retrieve the cattle. When Lee saw Kayce was involved, he retreated but not before Kayce's brother-in-law Robert shot him. Kayce in turn killed Robert but it was too late for Lee. (Nothing like killing off central characters in the first season!)

Lee was played by Dave Annable. Robert Long was played by Jeremiah Bitsui.
