Training your major and minor skills to get levels can be very helpful in the long run (obviously). It can become a pain to train the skills past a certain level as the various training characters will only train to certain levels, and it will become increasingly expensive.

The volcano where Dagoth Ur was banished to is concealed behind the "Ghostgate", which is a circular wall of energy that was put up by the tribunal to keep Dagoth Ur or any of his evil minions from ever terrorizing the world again. You can still use a "Rising force potion" to get behind the Ghostgate, but I wouldn't suggest if you can avoid it, as there are very powerful and dangerous enemies behind the Ghostgate.
