Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the most difficult setting for "Call of Duty 2"?

Answer: Veteran

There are four difficulty settings for "Call of Duty 2": Easy, Normal, Hard, and Veteran. Easy allows you to just plow through and understand the story, while Veteran requires skill and tactical knowledge to get through the game. In the first game they called the easiest setting 'Greenhorn'.
2. Which local do you not get to visit in the British campaign?

Answer: Germany

In the British campaign, you get to travel across Africa, liberating the nations of Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya. In the fourth battle, you move to France in the Battle of Cain.
3. Do you ever get to fight the Japanese in "Call of Duty 2"?

Answer: No

All you enemies in "Call of Duty 2" are German, although there are many different outfits you may find them in. All German weapons remain the same through the entire game also, so you'll get ample opportunity to familiarize yourself with the enemies' firearms.
4. Which two factions use the Thompson as their sub-machine gun?

Answer: The Americans and the British

The British use the Thompson until their final battle, where they switch over to the Sten. The Americans use the Thompson as their submachine gun for their entire campaign.
5. American is to Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) as British is to what?

Answer: Bren LMG

Each army's weapons have a counterpart in each other faction. The American BAR, British Bren LMG, and German MP44 are all support guns. The Russians don't actually have a weapon labeled as a support gun; the closest thing they have is the PPS42, which is still quite effective. Support guns have a high rate of fire, but can also be fired one shot at a time, and their power and accuracy is good enough that it can replace a rifle. Support guns are basically a standard rifle's power and accuracy crossed with a submachine gun's rate of fire.

The downside is that support guns are heavy and restrict movement speed and have a long reload time.
6. Do Smoke Grenades do any physical damage?

Answer: No

Smoke Grenades can either be a pain or your best friend. Sometimes both. They obscure vision of an area for a limited time, making it easy for you to move about unnoticed. However, it also doesn't allow you to see you enemies, and if you step out of the smoke, or if the smoke dissipates, you'll be hard pressed to find cover in time.

It's best used when you need to get close to targets, such as tanks, to plant sticky bombs, or if you need to move across or along the enemies' field of fire. They don't do any physical damage, though, so you can stand on one when it goes off.
7. Which of the following is not a German weapon?

Answer: Sten

The Sten is a British firearm (the submachine Gun in the Battle of Cain). The Luger in the German pistol, which some dying enemies will try to pull out to kill you before they're completely neutralized. The Gewehr 43 is a semi-automatic Rifle, with decent accuracy and power, and can sometimes be found with a scope. The MP44 is the German support Gun.
8. Do you ever get to use a panzershrek anti-tank weapon in the game?

Answer: Yes

When faced with tanks, you sometimes have to plant a bomb, or use a rocket. The only rocket launcher you get is a panzershrek (you don't ever get to use a Bazooka), which is slow, and takes a long time to reload, but an accurate shot can take out any enemy, or group of enemies. It's not a bad idea to pack one of these around if you have the choice.
9. In the Russian campaign, how do you enter the train station in the second battle, second mission?

Answer: Through the pipeline

The second mission of the second Russian battle is an entertaining one. You have to run through a pipeline to get to the train station, while there are large gaps you can shoot from, to aid your allies from a position the enemies hadn't thought of. However, the Germans can shoot through the thin metal lining, and you can be hurt if they just happen to hit you.
10. In first battle, second mission of the British campaign you have to stand on the top of the highest building to do what?

Answer: Call out targets to artillery crews

In this mission you have to hold a small village while waiting for reinforcements. You have to fend off hordes of Germans, attacking from multiple directions until you're called to the top of the center building to spot targets from the artillery crews. Your targets will be a number of enemy tanks that just move around, firing at the village while infantry try to run you over. You have to look through your binoculars and use the function key to launch a flair.

The artillery will then bombard that location.

The mission ends when you have successfully destroyed all enemy tanks.
11. How many Fragmentation Grenades can you hold at one time?

Answer: Four

Fragmentation Grenades are quite useful. You can take out a number of enemies with just one, and you can throw them into those hard-to-reach places, such as enemy fortifications. You can deplete your Fragmentation Grenade supply fairly fast, but fallen enemies will often drop their Frag Grenade satchel, which always hold three.
12. Do you ever get to fly an airplane in "Call of Duty 2"?

Answer: No

You never get to fly an airplane, or even shoot out of one, but you can see them a number of times throughout the game, saving you from advancing hordes of enemies. You also have to shoot down enemy planes on one occasion.
13. How many firearms can you hold at one time?

Answer: Two

Often you'll start off a mission with a submachine gun and a rifle, although you may have one of these replaced with a pistol. If this is not your preferred weapon set, you will have ample opportunity to take out a few enemies, of maybe some of your allies will die, giving you a wider selection.
14. How many missions (not objectives) are in the last American battle?

Answer: One

The last battle is Crossing the Rhine. It is a long mission with a number of objectives. You start off on an amphibious vehicle and, once on the beach, have to make your way uphill against multiple German machine guns. After that, you have to wander the streets of Wallendar, finding and eliminating artillery crews.

Then you have to take out two tanks. You can either run up close and plant sticky bombs, or you can run back to an artillery piece, and wait for the tank to come into view (the latter fashion is easier, but you'll end up waiting around for long spells).
15. During the end credits, there is a cinematic of a small skirmish between Germans and which allied faction?

Answer: Americans

Once you've finished the game, the credits will roll while showing a cinematic. It starts off with a few American soldiers grouping together. They assault a German strongpoint to free the British commander. They have to hold off the Germans while making their escape, and many troops fall. Eventually, the British commander and one surviving American hijack an armored car and drive away.

They're chased by a tank, and ten a fighter, which shoots at and bombs the car. The car detonates, but from the fires emerges the British commander with the American draped over his soldiers, who walks over to a group of cheering Americans.
