Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many players are drafted onto each team in a regular match?

Answer: Five

There will always be five players on the Radiant side and five players on the Dire side unless playing a custom game (eg. 10v10, Overthrow, etc.). Though the science behind drafting a team (unless in a party) isn't completely clear, the game tries to ensure that players of similar skill levels and MMR are grouped together and that, in this regard, both teams are even.

This is, of course, based on play history. Once all ten players load in, the draft can begin in whatever way the game format permits.
2. Players who choose to randomize their hero before a match will receive which of the following?

Answer: Extra gold

The extra starting gold can provide a much needed boost for an early hero, allowing for the purchase of extra consumables to survive fights or more damage to push the lane. Most, however, will opt to draw a random hero to regain lost gold before a match since, if someone doesn't draft a hero before the timer runs out, they'll lose gold until they make their choice. Opting out of a random hero, even if you re-randomize your choice, forfeits your extra gold.
3. First Blood is awarded to the first player who does which of the following?

Answer: Kills an enemy hero

First Blood is often an early indicator of sway in a match and it can happen even before the game timer commences (for instance, at the rune spawn points if they're contested). First Blood does grant more gold than early Bounty Runes, so achieving this can be very beneficial to the teammate who claims it, regardless of where they are on the map. First Blood is not granted to someone who assists in the kill, nor is it achieved if someone dies to a neutral creep, Roshan, or by suicide.
4. The enemy team has invisible heroes. Which of these is not an item used to reveal them?

Answer: All-Seeing Eye

Cloaked enemies are quite tricky and some heroes, like Bounty Hunter, Clinkz, Riki, and Weaver, are very effective at sneakily ganking foes in their own lanes or jungles. To counter invisible enemies, wards and dusts are extremely useful in the early game, but tankier heroes with enough staying power will often make use of a Gem of True Sight which, if the hero holding it is killed, will drop and become available to the enemy team. With the right items, any hero can become invisible.
5. One of the least expensive items in the game, the humble Tango can be eaten, but only when combined with which of these?

Answer: A tree

Tangos are the most basic consumable items in the game and, when used on a tree or planted Iron Branch, they can be used to regenerate a small amount of health over a short period of time. In the early laning stages of the game, this can make or break a lane by allowing heroes to stay and receive experience and gold while taking a bit of damage. Clarities can be used to refill mana, as can Enchanted Mangoes. All of these are affordable with starting gold and are unlikely to be used in late-game stages.
6. What powerful item, when used on specific characters, is used to upgrade existing spells, in some cases changing their function(s) entirely?

Answer: Aghanim's Scepter

Aghanim's Scepter is used by dozens of different heroes and is often recommended in-game as a necessary tool in battle. Granting +10 Strength, Agility, and Intelligence and boosting mana, the scepter seems like a fairly well-rounded buff item on the surface but is capable of transforming certain spells to devastating effects, in some cases increasing stats and damage output and in others completely overhauling playstyle.
7. A person who is announced as being on a RAMPAGE has just killed how many members of the enemy team?

Answer: All of them

Rampages are very rare in-game and can often only be achieved through clever tactics and brute strength, mainly because it involves wiping out the enemy team in its entirety. The kills need to happen within a certain amount of time (between each other) and they track upwards from Double Kill to Triple Kill to Ultra Kill (which announce two, three, and four enemy kills in succession). And yes, the Rampage is only given to the one team member who deals the final hit to them all.
8. If your KDA Ratio is below 1, what is implied?

Answer: That you died significantly more than you killed

The KDA Ratio in-game represents your Kills-Deaths-Assists, and it's calculated by adding together your kills and assists and dividing it by the amount of times you died. Thus, if you have a value lower than 1, it's implied that you died more than you contributed to the enemy kill count. Obviously, the higher the ration, the better off you are, but this does not factor in any other successes in-game.

A team with higher KDAs, while unlikely, can still lose a match. Nonetheless, it is an effective stat to track when judging your ability to play certain heroes.
9. What is the highest level reachable in the game, regardless of hero?

Answer: 25

All heroes begin at level 1 and, if they're successful, they might make it all the way to 25. At level 25, no more experience is gained and players will have put fifteen points (or more, depending on the hero) into abilities and ten (or less) into stat upgrades.

Other than these boosts, there is no real extra perk to reaching level 25. It does, however, indicate progress in-game; most matches don't see all heroes reach this point.
10. It's impossible to die in your own team's fountain.

Answer: False

Fountains, found in the back corner of the bases, are the respawn point when you or your teammates die, and they are somewhat of a safe haven since they can refill health and mana at a much faster rate than normal and they house the main shop. Enemy heroes, if they go into your fountain, will be attacked by high-powered magic and, likely, die if they aren't careful enough. You can, however, be fought in your own fountain, and teams who dominate a game can effectively continue wiping out a team, cornering them, while breaking through their base.
