Eburge's Furnace Fun Trivia Quiz

"Banjo-Kazooie" (N64) has long been one of my favourite games, and it's about time I made a quiz on it. Please forgive my shoddy rhyming - it's harder than you think!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. An easy one to start with, to get you on the roll, In Mumbo's Mountain, what colour are the pesky trolls?

Answer: Purple

Mumbo's Mountain is the first of the nine worlds that are somehow squashed into the length of the hat that is Gruntilda's Lair. This is a relatively simple level with a few enemies to get you going with attacking. This world also introduces you to Mumbo's transformations, which are necessary in getting all the rewards in certain levels.
2. In Treasure Trove Cove, the notes you will grab, But what is the name of the giant crab?

Answer: Nipper

Nipper the Crab doesn't like Kazooie's brashness, so he tries to attack you if you get close. Simply wait until he stops clawing at you, and use the Rat-a-Tat Rap on his eyes. Do this three times, and a golden reward awaits you inside the shell. It always puzzled me where Nipper went inside his shell...and why there were two Snippet crabs inside him?
3. Clanker's Cavern is quite a bleak place, But through what circular objects must you race?

Answer: Hoops

In the belly of Clanker, Gruntilda's friendly (to Banjo and Kazooie) trash compactor, you will find a series of blue hoops and one green hoop. Jump, swim and dive through each of the hoops (the next hoop changes colour to green) to get a precious Jiggy! But be quick, you'll have to beat the timer to get the golden prize. Watch out for that whiplash in the water!
4. In Bubblegloop Swamp, he's ever so guile, What is the name of the red crocodile?

Answer: Mr. Vile

In another race for a Jiggy, beat Mr. Vile (inside the nose of the big crocodile) three times in his yumbly-eating contest. First, eat the most the red yumblies, then eat the most red yumblies, but avoid the yellow ones (they don't taste very good), and finally only eat the coloured yumblies that are displayed at the top of the screen. If you've learned to use the Running Shoes in Gobi's Valley, then you'll get a spring in your step if you come back and do this challenge.
5. Freezeezy Peak is icy, so try not to rush, You'll find yourself beak-bombing how many of Sir Slush?

Answer: 5

Sir Slushes are another of Grunty's minions; evil snowmen that throw snowballs at you, whether you are on the ground or in the air. See the red X on their hats? Beak bomb them with Kazooie and they'll trouble you no more. But don't think you've seen the last of them...
6. Gobi's home next, visit him you oughta, But which of the characters needs some water?

Answer: Trunker

Trunker is in desperate need of water, but in the hot arid sands of Gobi's Valley, there is no water...except in the hump of Gobi himself. Lead Gobi over to Trunker and slam the camel's hump to water the tree. Trunker lives to see another day! What a relief! Oh, and you get a Jiggy for it, too.
7. Mad Monster Mansion is a spooky estate, In what spooky building will you find Motzand, your new mate?

Answer: Church

A church and a haunted house just seem to go hand in hand, don't they? Going into the church might not seem like a good idea, but there may be a Jiggy inside...okay, there is a Jiggy inside, and a Grunty switch. Oh, and there's an empty honeycomb piece as well.
8. Rusty Bucket Bay isn't a thrilling destination, But can you remember the whistle combination?

Answer: 312 111

To a newcomer, this whistle puzzle looks seemingly impossible, as there are loads of different combinations for the whistles. But, to an acute observer, you may notice the numbers 312-111 written on the side of the ship. I, unfortunately, was completely ignorant of this when I first played it and spent at least an hour just putting in combinations at random, hoping I'd get it.

Then I saw it written on the ship, and I just thought, "I'm an idiot."
9. In Click Clock Wood, you'll find many reasons, To change to a bee, in which of the seasons?

Answer: Spring

Mumbo won't transform you into a bee in Summer, because he's too hot to do it, he won't do it in Autumn, as there are a lot of leaves to sweep up, and in Winter, he's packed up and left because it's too cold! The only time to transform is in Spring. But, you aren't restricted to only being a bee in Spring. You can buzz around each of the seasons as much as you like, sometimes completing tasks that can only be accomplished as a bee.
10. And so you come to the end of the quiz, I hope you did quite well. But alas! There is still one more question! Will you get it? Only time will tell. Throughout your travels in Grunty's Lair, You may have missed some things. How many note doors were there? Quickly! Before the timer dings!

Answer: 7

The note door values (in order) are: 50, 180, 260, 350, 450, 640 and 765. So you really only need to get at least 85 notes per world. Still, why not get 100 in one go?

And there you have it. I hope you enjoyed the quiz.
