1. After you explode the first reactor, you take the last train out of Midgar to get to Sector 7. According to the announcement on the train, what is the expected time of arrival at Train Graveyard?

Answer: 12:23AM Midgar Standard Time

Hard question if you don't read the dialogue carefully! Whilst on the train, Jessie shows you the train's course on the monitor on the wall, and explains a bit about Midgar, including its 8 Mako Reactors.

2. In which sector is the second reactor you blow up? (where you fight Airbuster afterwards)

Answer: 5

Although the first reactor you destroy is in Sector 1, the second is in fact in Sector 5. After beating the Airbuster, it explodes and sends Cloud falling into the Sector 6 Church, where he meets Aeris.

3. When you jump of the second train with Barret and Tifa, you end up in a tunnel. If you walk down you meet some Shinra soldiers who you fight. Afterwards, the soldiers keep coming until you run away. Three messages appear on the screen before each attack. Which of these is not one of them?

Answer: Attack!

This place is useful for levelling up, especially as you have just recieved Tifa as a party member. No matter how many times you fight the soldiers, there are always more that come.

4. What are the names of Don Corneo's two lackeys?

Answer: Scotch and Kotch

Scotch is the lackey in green who you fight with as Cloud if you are not chosen by Corneo. Kotch is the guy in red who you find in the basement. If you come back to the basement after the Sector 7 pillar collapse, you find Kotch strapped to the table, and you can choose whether to help him or not.

5. Where was Elmyra's husband sent to during the war?

Answer: Wutai

Elmyra reveals she is not Aeris' real mother and also tells the party that her husband went to war. One day when she awaits her husband's return at Train Graveyard, she finds Aeris and Ifalna, who is dying.

6. What are Ifalna's last words?

Answer: Please take Aeris somewhere safe

Elmyra takes Aeris back to her house, where she cares for her as her own daughter. Before the Sector 7 pillar collapse, Aeris tells Tifa that she'll take Marlene "somewhere safe". Aeris takes her to her house, the same "safe place" that Elmyra takes Aeris.

7. According to a poster in the Shinra Building, what is Shinra's slogon?

Answer: Shinra's Future Is The World's Future!! Mako Energy For A Brighter World!!

Shinra is obsessed with Mako, and drains it out of the earth with Mako Reactors located over the world with no regards for the world's welfare. In the meeting that you spy on from the toilet in the Shinra Building, Palmer is excited about a proposed rate hike, hence he exclaims "Rate Hike! Rate Hike!"

8. If you bust in through the front door of the Shinra Building you have to take an elevator up to Floor 59. However, it malfunctions, and you have to stop it on random floors. On which floor do you find a Shinra employee?

Answer: Floor 29

On most floors you stop the elevator at, you have a fight. But on floor 29, when the doors open, there is a frightened man who claims to have made a mistake and he runs away. Not important to the game, but it adds a bit of humour.

9. In the Shinra Building, what colour are the bookcases in the Urban Development Research Library?

Answer: Yellow

The Urban Dev. Research Library has yellow bookcases and a green floor, the Scientific Research Library has blue bookcases and a pink floor, the Peace Preservation/Weapon Dev. Research Library has pink bookcases and a yellow floor whilst the Space Dev. Research Library has green bookcases and a blue floor. You must use the libraries to obtain the password for the mayor.

10. What is the name of Midgar's Mayor?

Answer: Domino

Domino doesn't have much power in Midgar, as it is mainly ruled by Shinra. His office is found in the Research Library on Floor 62 of the Shinra Building.

11. Which of these is NOT a possible password to give the mayor?

Answer: BOOK

Surprisingly as he is in a library, BOOK is not an option. The other options except for the ones in the question are BOMB, MAKO and HOJO. If you get the password right on the first try, Domino gives you an Elemental materia.

12. Which two members of the Turks enter the elevator on Floor 66, after Red XIII joins your team?

Answer: Rude and Tseng

Reno is still recovering after you beat him on top of the Sector 7 pillar, so he is not present. The Turks imprison you afterwards, but you manage to escape after the guard is killed.

13. OK, out of Midgar now. How many chocobos are in the fenced area outside the Chocobo Farm the first time you go there?

Answer: 4

If you talk to one of the chocobos nearest the fence and choose the first option, they all perform a dance for you. Afterwards, you recieve your first summon materia, Choco/Mog.

14. Besides Choco Bill and Choco Billy (and the chocobos!), who else is present on the Chocobo Farm?

Answer: Chole

Chole is found in the Stable along with Choco Billy. She provides you with interesting information, whilst Choco Bill sells you the stables. Choco billy looks after your chocobos and sells you your first Chocobo Lure.

15. When you fight Yuffie in a forest, what is her name?

Answer: Mystery Ninja

After you beat the Mystery Ninja, you can talk to her. If you answer correctly the questions she asks, then she will join your party and reveal her name is Yuffie. Whatever you do, don't use the Save Point. It is just a trick for Yuffie to steal your money!

16. What is the name of Bottomswell's physical attack?

Answer: Moonstrike

Not sure why, but it is. another attack used by Bottomswell in Under Junon is Big Wave. It can also create a bubble around one party member (much like the pyramids Reno creates when you fight him) which means that character cannot attack and they also lose HP. To destroy the bubbles, you must cast magic on them.

17. In Costa Del Sol, left of the entrance to the beach there is a blue sign in the foreground. What does it read?

Answer: SURFING SUNTAN

When you first arrive at Costa Del Sol after your ride on the Cargo Ship and you go to the beach, you find Hojo, who has recently resigned from his position of Head of Scientific Research at Shinra. He recognises Cloud and asks him if he ever gets a sense of being called. He is of course referring to the Reunion later on in Disc 2.

18. In Mt. Corel, on the train track, there are three points where you can fall down. If you hold down left or right and repeatdly press the [OK] button, you can grab some treasure. What treasure do you recieve for holding down right?

Answer: Star Pendant

If you hold down left, you get Aeris' Wizard Rod, which has attack 28 and three single materia slots. It also has Double materia growth.

19. What was the name of Barret's wife?

Answer: Myrna

Myrna is killed in the fire which destroyed the town of Corel. Shinra set fire to Corel after there was an explosion at the Corel Reactor, which they blamed on rebels from Corel. Dyne's wife, Eleanor, also died, but Marlene of course survived.

20. What does it say around the edge of the trapdoor entrance to Corel Prison in the Battle Arena?

Answer: Gateway to Heaven

Cloud's party is blamed for shooting all the people in the Battle Arena, so Dio orders their imprisonment in Corel Prison. The Corel Prison was formerly the town of Corel, which got burned down and buried beneath the Gold Saucer.
