Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After installing the game, a distress signal activated itself in the "Fallout 3" world. After discovering the source, Wernher, a mysterious person told the player that he needed help to cure a disease raging in another part of the country. Wernher and the player would have to go to "The Pitt". The only way the player could get through safely was to dress up as what?

Answer: A slave

After reaching Wernher and helping him take out some Pitt Raiders, the player was informed about a disease destroying people in "The Pitt". Wernher also said that with the players' weapons and equipment exposed, they'd never survive in "The Pitt". Wernher said that a group of slavers were getting ready to move some slaves, so that would be the best bet to get a disguise.

After freeing the slaves, either by purchasing their freedom or by killing the slavers, the player could take one of their uniforms and go into "The Pitt" safely.
2. Upon reaching "The Pitt", a large bridge covered with landmines had to be traversed. A sign on the bridge also revealed what city "The Pitt" took place in. What city did the expansion take place in?

Answer: Pittsburgh

After entering the remains of Pittsburgh, Wernher was approached by a group of raiders which he promptly eliminated. He then stopped at the gate to the bridge, saying that he could go no further. He told the player to locate a slave named Midea and talk to her. Before crossing the bridge, the player could see that "The Pitt" was the post-apocalyptic name for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The bridge to the slave compound was filled with landmines, ravenous dogs, and even a raider sniper.
3. After crossing the bridge into "The Pitt", the player was stripped of their weapons and sent into the world of the slaves. Midea, the slave who was told by Wernher to meet with the player, invited the player back to her house. Midea explained the story of the virus and then told the player to get to work by collecting what for the slavers?

Answer: Steel ingots

Midea told the player about the deadly disease sweeping through the land. To some people, the disease was relatively harmless, but to others, it turned them into messed up creatures hungry for the flesh of anything nearby. Midea then said that the only way for the player to survive in "The Pitt" would be to act like a slave. Midea told the player to go to the steelyard and collect steel ingots, a job that usually spelled a death sentence to anyone performing it.

The player was sent to acquire ten ingots. For every ten extra the player acquired, to a maximum of one-hundred total, a new special item would be rewarded to the player by the foreman.
4. Some of the humans infected by the deadly disease of "The Pitt" became blood-thirsty creatures. After their transformation, what were the infected people known as?

Answer: Trogs

Trogs were the people unfortunate enough to live through the infection and mutate into horrible creatures. Most of the human characteristics remained with the Trogs. Their skin was the same and their faces were more or less the same. On the other hand, Trogs walked on all fours like animals, and they had no intelligible speech.

They were also faster than people, and easier to kill. When sent to the steelyard to collect ingots, a slave could be seen talking to a Trog who used to be his little brother, Billy.

The Trog had no humanity remaining, so it attacked the slave and killed him.
5. After doing the job that Midea assigned for the player, the player had to return to Midea's house. They were then led outside to listen to a speech by Aschur, an ex-Brotherhood of Steel member who ran the slaving operation. He had a special system for determining which slaves should be freed. How did a slave go from being a slave to being a free person?

Answer: By fighting and winning in Aschur's arena

Before the player could digest what was just presented by Ashur, Midea volunteered the player to fight in the arena. The first fight was a very easy one. The match was between the player and two other slaves. The second fight was between the player and two well-armed brothers.

The final fight was against the defending champion of the arena, a fairly easy fight, in my opinion. After winning the fights, the player was summoned to meet Aschur in Uptown. The player could also get their confiscated equipment back.
6. Talking with other ex-slaves who had been freed, via the arena, the player was told that they were not really free. What was the player's status after escaping slavery?

Answer: The player was made a member of Aschur's army.

Entering Uptown, it was clear that Aschur was preparing for something big. He had loads of elite level troops guarding his mansion and it's surrounding areas. The player was informed that he was a member of Aschur's private army. It was also revealed that Wernher was once a general in Aschur's army, before he realized the cure existed and that nothing was being done to purify and distribute it.

The moral choices made after the player's promotion would determine the events for the rest of the expansion.
7. Aschur had the cure for the disease in his lair. What was the cure?

Answer: His baby.

After conversing with the player for a short while, Aschur revealed to the player that the cure was his baby. Somehow, the baby was born with natural immunities to the disease and would be the key to the cure. The brave decision had to be made then and there, whether or not to kidnap the baby.
8. The good path of the game involved the player stealing the cure from Aschur. The player had to fight their way back to meet with Midea. Luckily, slaves would help the player by distracting Aschur's troops. With the cure in the player's possession, Midea revealed where Wernher's hideout was located. Where was Wernher's hideout?

Answer: In the steelyard

Midea revealed that Wernher was hiding in the steelyard. Wernher was hiding on the second level, behind a blue door guarded by some wildmen and some Trogs. After entering the hiding place and giving Wernher the baby, one last task was given to the player before the cure could begin it's developmental stage.
9. Upon delivering the cure to Wernher's hideout, Wernher had one last task for the player to fulfill. The player was to go into the power-plant and power-down the lights in "The Pitt". Why did the player have to kill the lights?

Answer: The lights were the only things preventing the Trogs from attacking Aschur and the slavers.

Wernher said that he would not harm the baby when making the cure. After Wernher's promise, the player was sent into the Trog filled power-plant to deactivate the lights in Uptown. The lights were meant to keep out the Trogs, and they worked wonders, until they were de-activated. Once the player downed the lights, they would have to use a stealth-boy, lest they be attacked by the Trogs, as well. If the player decided to stay and watch the events unfold, it was seen that Aschur and his entire army was killed by the Trogs in Uptown.

After destroying the bad people, the slavers were free to do as they wished until the cure could be purified into a useable format.
10. After finishing Wernher's job, the player was told by Midea to get some items. Midea would pay the player for bringing those particular items to her. What did Midea want to pay the player for?

Answer: Teddy bears

Wernher delivered the baby from his hideout, to Midea's house in Downtown. She wanted to make the baby as comfortable as possible, so she asked the player to gather as many teddy bears as possible. The side quest was unending, but it was a nice, quick way to make some extra caps. After that, the player was free to leave and return to "The Pitt" at will.
