Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The game's primary character, which is the motivation for the player's adventure was James, the player's NPC father. Which prestigious actor did the voice-over work for James?

Answer: Liam Neeson

In the beginning of the game, the player was going through birth and that was when they began to customize their character's adult appearance. Based on the player's decisions, James' appearance was also influenced. Regardless of the choices, the great Liam Neeson did a more than excellent job at doing the voice-over for James.

He was essentially the tutor that guided the player through the first few years of life, teaching the player how to fire weapons and how to interact with objects. When James ran away, the real adventure began. Remember that Liam Neeson appeared as Qui Gon Jin in "The Phantom Menace", in "Love Actually", and many other films. Ron Perlman was the narrator of "Fallout 3". Malcolm McDowell played the mysterious President, John Henry Eden in "Fallout 3" and Patrick Stewart played Emperor Uriel Septum in "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion".
2. After exiting Vault 101, the player witnessed the desolation of the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The first settlement the player went to was called Megaton. What was unusual about Megaton?

Answer: There was an undetonated nuclear bomb in the center of town.

While Megaton featured an exciting array of eccentric characters, it also featured an undetonated "megaton" bomb. A church called "Children of the Atom" actually prayed to the irradiated bomb. There was a man in town named Mr. Burke who wanted the player to activate the bomb and kill the entire town. Of course, if the player reported him to the sheriff/mayor, Lucas Simms, Mr. Burke would attack the sheriff and put out a contract on the player's life. That was, of course, unless the player took out Mr. Burke first.
3. Talking to Colin Moriarty, a rather disreputable bar-owner in Megaton, the player was told that his father had gone to a certain radio station to speak with it's DJ, Three Dog. What was the radio station's name?

Answer: Galaxy News Radio

Battling through the DC Ruins, was no easy task early in the game. It especially got frustrating the closer the player got to Galaxy News Radio. The area was filled with Super-Mutants armed with everything from nail-boards to rocket launchers. The journey was a violent one and got even more frustrating when the player reached the station.
4. When the player made it to the radio station where James ran off to, they had to face a Super-Mutant Behemoth. What sets the Super-Mutant Behemoth apart from the rest of the Super-Mutants?

Answer: All of these

The Super-Mutant Behemoth was arguably the most difficult enemy to defeat in "Fallout 3". Armed with a huge slab of concrete with a fire hydrant at the end, the Behemoth could kill even a high level player in only a few hits. The Behemoth could take tons of damage, as well.

The best way to kill it is to fire a mini-nuke at it and really drain it's health. Following that, the player should then hide inside a building with cover and blast away with either the mini-gun or the regular rocket launcher.

There are five of these enemies total in the game, and an achievement can be unlocked for killing all of them (Xbox 360 and PC only).
5. With all of the clues and advice given by both holotapes and people, the player headed to Vault 112 where James also was. There, inside a simulation pod was a 1950s-esque simulation. When the player decided to go into one of the simulation pods, he was transformed into a little kid. Trying to locate James seemed all but hopeless. Alas, the leader of the vault turned the player's father into a certain creature. What did James get turned into, during the simulation?

Answer: A dog

Hidden inside a repair garage, the vault was one of the two left intact over the years of nuclear war. In the very center of the vault were a set of pods that gave the hosts a "Matrix-like" simulation. Once the player entered the pod, they were taken to a 1950's style village called "Tranquility Lane".

There, an evil scientist, disguised as a little girl who wanted the player to do evil things to the residents. They ranged from making children cry, to murdering everyone in town. If the player decided against it, they could activate a fail-safe inside a house.

After it was activated, the player could send a simulation of the Chinese Army to attack and kill everyone in town, essentially freeing them of the scientists tyranny. After ruining the simulation, the evil scientist told the player that the dog was James and he can be free to go.
6. After saving James from "Tranquility Lane", the player accompanied their father to Rivet City, where a science team was waiting. What was so different about Rivet City, compared to the other settlements in the game?

Answer: It was made out of an old aircraft carrier.

When first approaching Rivet City, the player might have been amazed to note that the city was made out of an old boat. Allegedly recovered from invasion by mole rats, the settlement had remained one of the safest in the DC Wasteland. Featuring a large cast of non-human NPCs, the city boasted an amazing science lab, containing one of the game's hidden bobble-heads.

The player should have initially gone to Rivet City to meet up with James, but could have gone earlier. Once the player reached the science lab, they could activate the quest to get to the Jefferson Memorial where "Project Purity" was ready.
7. After accompanying James and the science team to the Jefferson Memorial, "Project Purity" was ready to begin. While the player was activating a far away switch, the Enclave attacked the project. James was confronted by Colonel Autumn. Did James die during the events of that scripted encounter?

Answer: Yes

The Colonel wanted James to sabotage the experiment and kill all non-humans in the wasteland. Instead of succumbing to the Enclave's tyranny, James sacrificed himself to safe others. He released a blast of radiation and killed the Enclave soldiers and himself in the process. Unable to save James, the science team told the player to guide them through the sewers, which happened to be filled with ghouls and Enclave soldiers. Colonel Autumn survived the radiation and was eventually healed at Raven Rock, the Enclave stronghold.
8. After escaping from the pursuit of the Enclave and finding sanctuary with the Brotherhood of Steel, the player was sent to Vault 87 to figure out the origin of the Super Mutants and to retrieve the GECK. There were two entrances, one of which was inaccessible and foolish to attempt to go through. The other was through a system of caves, called what?

Answer: Little Lamplight

Little Lamplight was one of the more unusual settlements in the game. It's residents were only children. No "mungos" were allowed to live with them, except the player. The origin of the town went back to the nuclear war. A group of kids and a few teachers were on a field trip when the bombs exploded. One thing led to another and all adults eventually perished leaving the kids to their own accord. Once a kid became 16, they were sent away to live in a place called "Big Town", where a Super Mutant problem existed.

After saving some children from slavers, the player was given access to the caves, and told that the entrance to Vault 87 was hidden on Murder Pass. The only other entrance was in a horribly irradiated region in the wasteland. The rads per second could exceed 3000, and kill the player pretty much instantly.
9. After getting help from a friendly Super-Mutant named Fawkes, the player retrieved the GECK to power the Brotherhood of Steel's robot. Alas, before it could be delivered, the player was knocked unconscious by the Enclave. President John Henry Eden summoned the vault-dweller but Colonel Autumn forced the vault-dweller to kill hordes of Enclave soldiers. The President then told the vault-dweller to do something to "Project Purity". What did the President want the player to do?

Answer: Lace the clean water with a modified FEV virus

The President told the Enclave to allow the player to walk freely among them. In the middle of the walk, Colonel Autumn went over the President's head and retracted the order telling everyone to kill the player. The player then had to battle through hordes of Enclave troops to reach the president. Exploration was key in the mission, because one of the game's elusive bobble-heads were hidden within the base. Once the player reached the President, who turned out to be little more than artificial intelligence, the player was ordered to poison the pure water so only non-mutants could survive.

The player could not leave without taking the poison but was given a choice near the end of the game, whether or not to use it.
10. Finally at the "Project Purity" chamber for the second time, the vault-dweller was faced with two moral dilemmas. One involved executing President Eden's order, or not, and the other was based on who was with the player at the time. Either the player, or who must save the wasteland?

Answer: Sarah Lyons

After killing Colonel Autumn, outside the chamber, the player was forced to make their decisions. If the player decided to enter the chamber, the player would die a hero. Before entering the chamber, the player could talk to Dogmeat and say goodbye before activating the purifier and dying of extreme radiation poisoning. If the player sent Sarah Lyons into the chamber, she died, and the player was branded a coward in the end.

Injecting the FEV Virus into the water purifier would kill everything except unmutated humans located only among the Enclave and any of the remaining vaults. I personally, did not choose that option because I enjoyed being a good character. That last choice concluded the main story of the game.

A recommendation would be to do the side-missions and exploration before the end of the game, because once the game ends, there is no free exploration, unlike in "Elder Scrolls IV". Thanks for playing!
