Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of Zidane's foster father?

Answer: Baku

Baku is also the name of a mythological creature said to eat dreams, and that the Pokemon, Drowzee, is a descendant of it (according to the pokedex in "Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen". You find out that Baku is Zidane's foster father in Black Mage Village, while Zidane is telling Garnet/Dagger a story.

Kuja is Zidane's older brother, Garland is his 'creator' if you wish, and Regent Cid is only an acquaintance.
2. While fighting Crawlers in the Gargant tunnel, they will sometimes use a move involving attacking you with their tongue. What is this move called?

Answer: Stomach

A very strange move it is, too. As Steiner is your only form of decent power here, they can sometimes be quite a problem. You might want to remove all valuable equipment from Marcus if you haven't done already, as you are about to lose him...
3. What is the name of the hat that every playable character in the game can wear? (Including Steiner and Freya)

Answer: Straw

Despite being completely useless, you find a treasure chest that gives you eight of these things, almost like you would actually want to wear one! They do absolutely nothing! No moves to be learned, no bonus stats, NOTHING! It makes you wonder why they even exist, really.
4. Taking a Hammer, 50,000 gil and a piece of Ore to Hades' Synthesis store will get you a Maximillian armor.

Answer: False

These three ingredients will get you a TIN Armor! This is arguably the best armor in the game. If you choose optimize, however, the computer will pick the next best armor, because the Tin Armor doesn't have any moves to learn!
5. Where do you need to go Chocobo Diving in order to get the Ultima Weapon?

Answer: Shimmering Island

The Ultima Weapon is the second most powerful weapon in the game. However, due to the extreme difficulty of acquiring the Excalibur II, the Ultima Weapon is much more widely coveted. The Ultima Weapon has an incredible 100 attack power!
6. What is the name of the moogle who looks after Choco?

Answer: Mene

It's quite amazing how this moogle can travel. He even gives Stiltskin competition! You originally find him in the Chocobo's Forest, where he lets you befriend Choco. After this, you can find him in Chocobo's Lagoon, Chocobo's Air Garden, and he even makes it into Chocobo's Paradise!
7. What is displayed on card 100? (the very last one)

Answer: An Airship

It doesn't matter which way you count, this is still the very last card in the deck. Airship cards are pretty rare. They can only be won from a few phantoms in Memoria, or dug up once from a Chocograph treasure. The picture on the card can be mistaken for a sheep, or even a Yan, for more tenacious "Final Fantasy IX" fans.
8. Can you receive a Burmecia Card on Disc 1?

Answer: No

You can NOT receive a Burmecia card on Disc 1 for a very simple reason: there isn't a Burmecia Card. The Disc 1 was a red herring, but truth is, there is no Burmecia Card in the entire game. The only city cards in the game are the Alexandria Card and the Lindblum Card.
9. Which of these forks does NOT belong to Quina?

Answer: Maestro Fork

The Maestro Fork is completely made up. All the other three are his three most powerful forks. In descending order, they are: The Gastro Fork, The Bistro Fork, and the Silver Fork. You win the Gastro Fork by defeating Quale after catching 99 frogs in any Qu's Marsh.
10. Who does this scrambled weapon belong to?: Noohalcri

Answer: Zidane

Noohalcri is a scrambled form of the 'Orihalcon', Zidane's most powerful dagger. As well as being the most powerful dagger, is also gives him a slight boost in speed! You can either buy it in Bran Bal, or steal it from Taharka in Ipsen's Castle.
11. What, according to Zidane, is Ipsen's line?

Answer: 'Because I wanted to go with you'

This is found out just before Garnet discovers that Madain Sari is where she was born. She finds a small dock, with a boat very similar to the one her mother used to flee Madain Sari with (not that she knows). Zidane then finds her here and makes a bad attempt at hitting on her, when Garnet quote's Ipsen's line. Zidane then tells a short story about Ipsen, and it ends with both of them sailing off in the little boat. Garnet exclaims that Madain Sai in the sunset makes it look like it's on fire, and that it seems vaguely familiar.

This provokes a memory, showing her and her mother escaping from Madain Sari while it was being attacked by a 'hurricane', which is later discovered to be the airship, 'Invincible'. This leaves no doubt in Garnet's mind that she is from Madain Sari!
12. What happens to Quina when it is in trance?

Answer: He can cook enemies instead of eating them

If you choose 'cook', Quina can eat the opponent if it has 50% or less HP, rather than 25% normally. Unfortunately, Quina's Trance has no other special uses, and is considered almost redundant.
13. Some advice: NEVER use Mantra Magic on a Catoblepas. Why?

Answer: Because it will use Limit Glove and inflict 9,999 HP damage on someone!

Fortunately, Catoblepas is the only enemy in the game able to do this. If you reduce it to 1 HP, it instantly counters with Limit Glove, inevitably knocking a character out! Luckily, it has to be at 1 HP in order to use this attack, so the chances of it using the move are VERY slim.
14. Which of these 'tasty' dishes is NOT a Blue Magic ability?

Answer: Hedgehog Pie

Personally, I wouldn't even attempt to eat any of these (Quina would, though). A Hedgehog Pie is actually a monster, which is ironic, considering it is the one that sounds most edible out of the choices. Pumpkin Head does the exact same thing as Steiner's 'Minus Strike'. Frog Drop deals damage depending on Quina's level, and how many frogs he has caught. Mustard Bomb puts the target in the 'heat' status, which is pretty much a death Sentence, unless they recover from it. If you ever get put in heat, just don't attack, and you'll be fine after about ten seconds.
15. Is it possible to have a boss defeat itself?

Answer: Yes

On the second encounter with Black Waltz 3, he will NOT attack Garnet, no matter what the circumstances are! If only Garnet is standing, he will attack himself, muttering. If he finishes his sentence, he'll carry Garnet away, and you'll get game over. However, if he is in low enough health, he'll kill himself with his own attack, and you'll win!

Another boss that can kill itself is: Ozma. If it uses Doomsday while in low health, it can kill itself, too!

I hope you've enjoyed this quiz!
