Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Some bosses are difficult, while others are simply not meant to be defeated. Which of these bosses has the most HP?

Answer: Goddess (Portrait of Demon transformation)

When fighting the boss inside Owzer's portrait, the player is meant to focus their attacks - preferably fire magic - on the Demon, making constructive use of the turns the possessed Goddess appears without attacking it. It boasts 56,000 HP, but revives itself upon defeat.

The shells of Ymir and Whelk each have HP pools of 50,000, but that ludicrous amount and the fact that they retaliate with powerful attacks essentially renders the fact that there HP is finite moot. Vargas has a similarly unreasonable HP of 11,600. Simply going with the flow of the plot and performing Sabin's Pummel is the only feasible option to advance.
2. What desirable item can be stolen from Dullahan, a boss found in a setting in which stealing without means of glitches is impossible?

Answer: Genji Glove

Dullahan is found in Darryl's Tomb early in the World, a point in which the player is still picking up the proverbial pieces with Celes. With no Locke, character who can wield the Thief Knife, or items that can be wagered for the Merit Award, it is virtually impossible to steal without the use of codes or the Sketch Glitch.
3. There is a chest in plain sight in the Phantom Train that cannot be reached. What does it contain?

Answer: Fairy Ring

The Phantom Train also contains two invisible chests containing Tents.
4. Which command - not programmed correctly to miss - will cause various glitches upon doing so?

Answer: Sketch

These glitches range from generating an entirely new set of items matching the bit data for the enemy formation Sketch is attempted on to hardlocking the game.
5. By listening to the opposite of all the info given to you by Zozo's citizens, the player can use process of elimination to solve the riddle with the one viable solution and input the correct time.

Answer: False

There are two potential solutions for the Zozo Clock Tower puzzle, 6:10:10 and 6:10:50, the latter being the correct answer that grants the player access to a hidden room in which they can acquire Edgar's Chainsaw tool.
6. Which character(s) may use the dog Interceptor to defend and counter attacks?

Answer: Any

The Reach Frog, an enemy found in the World of Ruin, has the ability Rippler which trades status (positive or negative) with the user. It may be strip Shadow of his Interceptor "status" and impart it on another character upon using Rippler again.
7. Dark Force, found in Kefka's Tower, along with a late-game boss Goddess is the only source of what Strago Lore?

Answer: Quasar

The multi-target Quasar is a less powerful version of Grand Train. It is likely to be witnessed in the drawn-out fight with Goddess, but only has a 1/3 chance of appearing every seventh turn against a Dark Force.
8. Mode 7 was a big deal for Super Nintendo when this title was released. When we are escaping the Magitek Research Facility via rail cart. The path branches to the right at one point. What do we find if we turn off the default path forward?

Answer: We have no access to the controls of the minecart

"Final Fantasy VI" also makes use of Mode 7 in navigating the Serpent Trench.
9. Which characters can infinitely attack when in the Imp status upon being revived?

Answer: Cyan and Gogo

This occurs when using Bushido, which activates Sky, a means of retaliating with the special every time attacked. Upon being revived as an Imp with Sky, he is prompted to counter with Sky but, unable to do so, will infinitely use a regular attack command, the only viable attack for an Imp. Gogo may Mimic this.
10. The player acquires the airship about midway through the game. However, the player can technically access it at a much earlier point in the game using a save file that has acquired it. Until what point must the player play to activate the Airship Glitch?

Answer: Floating Continent

The player must save on the overworld at the point of the game they would like to acquire the Airship. They must then advance to the point in the Floating continent in which the player is given the option of returning to the airship or not and fly around without landing before returning to the Floating Continent. Upon dying there, their save file will pick up from the early-game location, but load inside the airship on the overworld.
11. There first Chocobo Stable is hidden west of where in the World of Balance?

Answer: Figaro Castle

This is entirely optional. Most likely, the player's first experience with Chocobo riding will be the escape of Figaro Castle and the first stable they will come upon will be in South Figaro.
12. Which enemy - essentially a joke fight in the main storyline - is actually a formidable opponent in the Colosseum that will reward the players with Elixirs when wagering low-value items?

Answer: Chupon

Chupon has 50,305 HP and every turn has a 75 percent of using Sneeze, which will end the battle and result in a loss. His partner Ultros incidentally works at the Colosseum as a receptionist.
13. Strago's Traveler Lore deals damage based on an algorithm based primarily upon the player's step count. In what area can we infinitely travel in one direction to rack up steps?

Answer: Kefka's Tower

There are several conveyor belts in Kefka's Tower. By going in the opposite of their flow, the player advance to the first tile on it and is pushed back. As such, a player infinitely pushing that directional button will always add one step between the pushed-back animation, making it possible to max out the step counter by taping down a single button.
14. In which areas are the treasures received by the player incorrectly displayed upon opening the chest?

Answer: Owzer's Mansion and Cave to the Sealed Gate

In both places, the player receives less valuable items than stated; In the cave, we get a Gold Needle, Water Edge, and 293 GP, less than the 2,000 shown in on-screen text. We received the lie of "2,000 GP" again in an Owzer's Mansion, get a regular Potion instead of a Hi-Potion, a plain old Ether instead of a Dry Ether, and a Gold Needle as opposed to a Remedy once more.
15. Which otherwise-linear area which the player must navigate includes two optional caves with chests containing an X-Potion and Green Beret?

Answer: Serpent Trench

The second cave is quite large and involves a puzzle to drain its water. Speedruns of the game opt to take the encounters at sea over the caves. There is a hidden room in the Cultist's Tower with a chest containing an Air Anchor, a tool for Edgar.
16. In Mobliz in Sabin's Scenario, which of these is not a way to "advance time" to trigger the soldier's letter being sent to his lover?

Answer: Leaving town and returning

Upon going through this tedious cycle five times, the player will be rewarded with a Tintinnabulum, a rare albeit impractical relic which heals your party as your step counter increases.
17. Zozo citizens are big liars; They NEVER tell the truth. What would you never hear one say?

Answer: Locke and his party of Moogles can reach the boss without fighting any guards

It is possible to learn Bum Rush at level 70, but very rarely done since players gain access to it simply by activating the cutscene in Duncan's Cabin. Number 024 will cycle through several elemental properties before a "system error," in which he heals and scans himself. Gigantos is the boss fought in the Floating Continent; Colossus is a dummied-out palette swap of him and Hill Gigas.

It is indeed possible to pass all of the guard, but there is one spot in which the player must time their movement correctly to avoid the encounter, as the encounter will not trigger if the player and sprite are moving on the same frame.
18. Strago's Stone Lore will do more damage when?

Answer: When he is the same level as the target

Stone, which may also inflict the Confuse status, deals eight times as much damage to enemies the same level as who is using it.
19. Which of these is not necessary for obtaining a perfect score at the Banquet Hall in the meeting of diplomacy with Gestahl, earning the best possible rewards?

Answer: Talking to Kefka in prison

The player who may speak to the imprisoned Kefka at this point, if only for their amusement. However, time is precious, as you are given four minutes to speak to all the soldiers to gain their kinship, including several battles. A time limit is also imposed during the break in negotiations, in which the player must take up the offer of the soldiers to square off until resuming talks.

The player may not ask the same question multiple times to elicit a positive reaction, but they must recall which question they asked Gestahl first, reminding him correctly.
20. At the Returners' Hideout, The Genji Glove may only be received from Banon when declining to help the Returners' cause three times.

Answer: False

The player will still receive the elusive Relic if they decline twice before agreeing, but one more cutscene will ensue. For this reason, it is faster to say "no" three times.
21. Which scenario contains an infamous bug on the Lethe River in which a player can repeatedly loop around to auto-grind their characters up to inordinately high early-game levels?

Answer: This bug occurs on the river before the characters split up

This glitch entails selecting the "up" option at one split and setting Banon's cursor memory to Pray, a party heal with no MP cost. In this way, a player can infinitely win fights with encounters there. While Terra's scenario continues their journey along the river, this splitoff is found before the crew part ways after Ultros.
22. When entering the Empire-occupied South Figaro via ship after they have taken control, how does the player sneak out?

Answer: Inside a treasure chest

South Figaro has no shortage of hidden passages. After the Empire takes control of the town and the player controls Locke in his scenario, the task is to escape town safely and reach Narshe by means of his thieving skills and duplicity. However, it is possible to make it out by simply passing the guard in the narrow alley on the east side of town quickly after closing the start menu.

It then becomes impossible to return to town during his scenario. As such, we skip recruiting Celes and her Moogle counterpart Kutan - each party member has a Moogle mapped to their same RAM address - joins us in her place.
23. One feature prevalent in this title is "upgradable" treasure chest which contain items of higher value when waiting to be opened. Many of them are in the Figaro region. But there is one such chest in the Moogle Den. What will it contain if the player holds off until late in the game to open it up?

Answer: Ribbon

The chest contains the MP-consuming Rune Edge in the World of Balance, but gets an upgrade to the status-shielding relic Ribbon if the player has the patience to not open it up during Terra's Scenario.
24. The thief Lone Wolf broke free in the World of Ruin! The player if left with the moral dilemma of saving Mog who has had a precious piece of treasure stolen by Lone Wolf. With both of them hanging for dear life on the cliffs of Narshe Snowfields, we can save Mog or interact with Wolf Lone, taking his treasure, as the Moogle and thief tumble off the cliff. What treasure does the Lone Wolf covet?

Answer: Gold Hairpin

The Gold Hairpin will half the MP needed for the wielder to use magic. Obtaining the relic this way is unpopular as much for the fact that the player will then never have the opportunity for Mog to join their party as the moral aspect of saving Mog.
25. In what location is there a wandering NPC who can get between a character guiding the player, causing a softlock?

Answer: Returner's Hideout

This occurs upon the player's first arrival to the hideout when the party is introduced to Banon. When the player is being guided by Locke in Figaro Castle, they can pass him or block him.
