Answer: Sonic The Hedgehog

This charming hedgehog made his very first appearance in 1991 in an arcade game named "Rad Mobile". From there he moved on to be the main character in one of the most successful series of platform games named "Sonic the Hedgehog". Sonic is known for running faster than the speed of sound, he loves chilli dogs and is incapable of swimming. He can't stay still so he is always looking for some kind of adventure.

Ecco, the main character in the series, is a highly intelligent bluish grey bottle nose dolphin, with a white underbelly. One of his most distinguishing characteristics is that he has five stars on top of his head, forming the shape of the Delphinus constellation. He is gifted with a unique sonar which he can use as a weapon, as well as having the ability to shape-shift when needed.

Ecco's main objective in this aquatic adventure game is to save the world from evil alien forces who threaten to destroy the planet and the oceans.

Answer: Yoshi

Yoshi is an adorable dinosaur, who first appeared in 1990 in the "Super Mario World" game. In this game Mario and Luigi could ride on the back of their companion and that way they could get to places quicker, and get rid of their enemies. When Yoshi eats different coloured berries, he gets extra powers like being able to fly or creating earthquakes. Yoshi was very well received, so much so that he soon had his own series, although he still collaborated with the brothers in certain games.

Answer: Epona

Probably the best known horse in video games, Epona is named after the Celtic goddess of horses. She is the true and loyal companion of Link in the "The Legend of Zelda" series. Link manages to get around in the lands of Hyrule, with this beautiful fast horse, which is always by his side even in the worst situations. Epona seems to be indestructible as she overcomes all enemy attacks. Link has a special form of calling the horse when he plays "Epona's Song", which can be done in several ways.

Answer: Bandicoot

Crash is supposed to be an Eastern Barred Bandicoot, a small terrestrial marsupial which is an endangered species endemic to Australia. Our main character Crash was created in a lab by two crazy doctors who wish to create an evil character by using an "Evolvo-Ray", and putting him under a "Cortex Vortex", but the machine fails to make him an evil character. Crash manages to escape from the lab, ending up on the beaches of the island. Crash Bandicoot's main objective in the game is to clean up any pollution and to save his girlfriend from the evil hands of the mad doctors. Most of the games are played on the fictitious Wumpa Islands, which are located south of Australia.

Answer: Chocobo

Chocobos have made many appearances in the " Final Fantasy" series, although their debut was in "Final Fantasy II". They are large ostrich like creatures, the most common ones are yellow, but you can find some with special powers in many different colours ranging from black, green, blue and the all powerful gold.

The bird is normally flightless, and is frequently ridden and used in combat or racing. It is said that they can be as tall as nine feet and run up to 200 kms an hour. According to the "Guide to the Outer World (Final Fantasy Unlimited)" they are considered to be the "bird of happiness".

Answer: Mew

Mew is an extremely rare and adorable pokemon that is very hard to find, he is shy and only occasionally has been seen by humans. He's a master of mind-games and is one of the hardest Pokemon to catch. It is said that Mew is the only ancestor of all the pokemons.

It carries the DNA of each and everyone of them, giving it the ability to transform himself into any other pokemon. He is feline looking with large eyes and a long tail and walks on his hind feet. He is pink in colour, although occasionally he has been seen in blue.

He is the last of the first generation pokemon's. Mew appeared in the video game when his creator Shigeki Morimoto decided to secretly program him in as a bit of fun.

Answer: Dog

PaRappa is a very cute teenage doggy, and all he wants to do is impress his girlfriend Sunny Funny. He feels that the only way he knows how to do this is by singing to her an incredibly complicated rap song. PaRrapa is the main character in the music themed Playstation game of "PaRappa the Rapper" released in 1996. This little pup enjoys life in general, but loves driving, Karate and going to flea markets, but he hates cooking.

Answer: Gex

Gex is a gecko who lives with his mother and his younger brothers in Hawaii, while his father works for NASA. Sadly his father dies when their rocket explodes. Gex deals with his grief by becoming completely enthralled with television. So much so that one fine day, while looking for something to watch and pressing the remote incessantly, the TV went blank. Suddenly a hand comes out of the TV and pulls Gex into the TV. The whole object of the game is for Gex to find and collect as many remotes as possible which are hidden in all different places and levels.

Answer: Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo's sister Tooty has been kidnapped by Gruntilda the Witch. Banjo with his bird friend Kazooie, are on a mission to save Tooty. In order for them to advance they must collect musical notes, jigsaw pieces and Mumbo tokens. As they collect these various pieces doors open into different worlds, allowing them to advance and eventually free the sister.
