I still recall Jinx the Cat screaming "I hate those meeses to pieces" but, sometimes, that's the way with rodents. Your task in this quiz is to separate the rodents from the characters that are men... or, at least, they claim to be.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Chadder: In the "Animal Crossing" series of games Chadder is described as a "smug" mouse, the only one of his kind. As his name, a corruption of cheddar, implies, there's a lot about him that reeks of cheese. His catchphrase, for instance, is "fromage", which is French for cheese. He is yellow with orange spots, designed to make him resemble Swiss cheese. This little mouse, who first appeared in "Animal Crossing: A New Leaf" (2012) lists among his interests collecting bottle caps and watching trains go by.
Daroach, from "Kirby Squeak Squad" (2006), is the leader of the said Squeak Squad and their main mission is to steal treasure. And they manage to have some success, stealing Kirby's prized Strawberry Shortcake. Despite being an early villain he eventually becomes one of Kirby's allies. It appeared that Daroach stole one treasure too many, that of Dark Nebula's, who in turn possessed him and turned him into Dark Daroach... that is until he was rescued by Kirby.
Mickey (Mouse) has come a long way from his first introduction - as a black and white creature, who didn't talk, in the animated short film "Steamboat Willie" (1928), to being the mascot for a giant corporation that calls itself "The Happiest Place on Earth". The artists at Nintendo first brought Mickey to life in a video game in 1981 in a "Game & Watch" system. 1984 saw Mickey expand his horizons with "Mickey's Space Adventure", which progressed into the "Illusion" series of games. These were conducted through Sega Genesis and Magical Quest throughout the 1990s. Mickey really came into his own as one of the Keyblade Masters in the "Kingdom Hearts" series that first launched in 2002 for PlayStation 2. This was a collaboration between Square Enix and the Walt Disney Company, which follows the adventures of Sora and his battles with the Heartless and the Organization XIII. He is aided on the quest by Mickey and a swag of other Disney characters.
Ms Mouz, who was originally called Ms. Mouse, first appears in "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door" (2004), the second in the "Paper Mario" series. In her first outing, Mario is on a quest to rescue Peach who has been kidnapped by the X-nauts. To get to her he must negotiate the Seven Crystal Stars, accompanied by a single companion at each level. Ms. Mouz, who is a sneak thief (and has stolen from Mario) is an option to be one of Mario's allies during one of these levels. Her best gifts are her speed, which allows her to break through an enemy's defenses and steal away (pun intended) with their valuables. She is also a bit of a minx and enjoys flirting with Mario. This tends to make Yoshi a little envious and it certainly gets up the nose of Goombella, who does not hesitate to call Mouz "a floosey".
Quill ("Moss") "Moss" is a Virtual Reality (VR) game, first released in 2018 for PlayStation 4. Its sequel, "Moss: Book II" would appear in 2022. Wearing a VR headset, you become a character in the story, where you get to meet Quill. Quill is a young female, sword-wielding mouse and your role is to be her guide on a mission to defeat the evil Saffrog, a fire-breathing serpent, and, in the process, rescue her uncle. It may seem a little weird, but you are able to interact directly with Quill... there's a chance you may even form a bond with her and set up a strange sort of duology.
In "Final Fantasy IX" (2000), Freya Crescent appears as an anthropomorphic rat who hails from the city of Burmecia, though her storyline indicates that she hadn't been in her hometown for quite some time. She had set out on a mission to find her lover, Sir Fratley, who had failed to return from his own quest. When she does find him, he has amnesia and does not remember her. At one time she was a fan favourite but, despite making appearances in a number of spin-offs, she tended to slip from the minds of the writers and, in the end, her storyline became one that was never fully developed.
Skipsqueaks appear in "Super Mario 3D World" (2013) for Wii and, then again, in "Super Mario Maker 2" for switch. These guys aren't pleasant. They represent enemy rodents, but they're not very bright. I say that because they constantly run on a moving conveyor belt, which travels in the opposite direction. End result, they end up running on the spot and not getting anywhere. They usually appear in groups, you won't find one alone, and they will jump up in the air and yell "chu". They can be easily defeated with any form of attack in these two games.
Hammond is a hamster, and a pretty intelligent one at that, who appears in the 2016 shooter game "Overwatch", a game first released for PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One. Blessed with mechanical skills he builds a large spherical mech-suit, which he's christened Wrecking Ball. We discover that Hammond obtained his super intelligence as a result of experiments that were conducted on him, however, despite being super smart, he cannot talk. That said, he is smart enough to create (and install) a translator into Wrecking Ball, so that his team can understand what all his little squeaks mean.
"Mappy" has been around for a long time, first appearing in the eponymous Namco arcade game in 1983. With a plot that looks like it may have come straight out of a "Tom and Jerry" cartoon, Mappy is a police officer mouse, complete with baton and badge, whose task it is to clean up a gang of cats known as the Meowkies. These mean little kitties have broken into a mansion and are endeavouring to steal all the goods inside. Mappy's name is derived from the word "mappo", which is a Japanese slang term for a policeman.
If your only memory of Conker is that of the anthropomorphic red squirrel that first appeared in "Diddy Kong Racing (1997) for Nintendo 64, you may need to sit down before you read the rest of this. That Conker that you met was a sweet, innocent and adorable creature. Because of this, there was always a chance that you may have miss him in the game. The developers felt the same way, so they figured they'd give him a bit of a make-over. The version that appears in "Conker's Bad Fur Day" (2001) for Nintendo 64 was no longer family friendly. The new Conker swears like a trooper, drinks like a fish and urinates in public. He constantly tells toilet jokes and his comments reek of sexual innuendo. He's moved so far in the opposite direction to the original Conker that the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) slapped a "M" rating on him and his language had to be censored for a Xbox remake.
Kratos is the protagonist in "God of War" (2005), Raziel is the chief protagonist in "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" (1999), Revali appears in "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" (2017, Arthur Morgan is the main playable character in "Red Dead Redemption 2" (2018), Ezio Auditore, full name Ezio Auditore da Firenze, is the Italian master assassin in the "Assassin Creed" series of games, Squall Leonhart serves as the main character in "Final Fantasy VIII" (1999) and Kain, is the title character in the "Legacy of Kain" series.
