Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the primary villain in the "Zelda" series?

Answer: Ganon

Ganon, appearing in the first "Legend of Zelda" game, fights Link in all but a handful of games. He embodies the Triforce of Power.
2. Who does the final boss of the first game kidnap in the 1987 "The Legend of Zelda"?

Answer: Zelda

Ganon sought the Triforce of Wisdom after gaining the Triforce of Power. Princess Zelda broke the Triforce into eight fragments and hid them in various dungeons. It is Impa, Zelda's handmaiden, who sends Link on his quest.
3. This boss is invincible until you activate Link's most powerful spell. Who is the primary guardian of the Great Palace in "Zelda II"?

Answer: Thunderbird

"Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" totally changes the gameplay of the series by being a sidescroller and introducing magic and NPCs. The game also marks the first time Ganon is not the final boss of the game. Instead, you fight Thunderbird and Dark Link. Ganon, though he does not appear in the game as an enemy, does show up quite memorably if you run out of lives. Ganon needs your blood to be sprinkled on his ashes, and his minions are trying to kill you for your blood. If you run out of lives, Ganon laughs at you, and the enemies sprinkle your blood on his ashes and resurrects him. Ganon's laugh is taken from Soda Popinsky from "Mike Tyson's Punch Out".
4. Dark Link has proven himself quite popular over the years. What temple does Dark Link appear in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"?

Answer: Water Temple

Dark Link is a bini-boss in the Water Temple. Dark Link also has a cameo appearance in a cut scene in "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess", and appears as in "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks".
5. In "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" the guardian of Three Eye Rock Palace is named Volvagia. When Nintendo published "Zelda II" in America, what new name was Volvagia given?

Answer: Barba

Volvagia has appeared in "Zelda II" and "Ocarina of Time". In the re-release of "Zelda II", Nintendo corrected the translation error and made Volvagia his standard name.
6. What is the name of the final form of the last boss of "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask"?

Answer: Majora's Wrath

There are three forms the final boss. The first is Majora's Mask. You must stun this form with a projectile weapon and then slash it with your sword. The second form is Majora's Incarnation. Likewise, you must shoot it with a projectile weapon and then strike it with your sword. The third form is Majora's Wrath.
7. Hyrule has its fair share of oversized reptiles. What is the name of the three-headed dragon that appears in the first game?

Answer: Gleeok

Excluding Ganon, there are six bosses in the original game. These are Aquamentus, Dodongo, Manhandla, Gleeok, Digdogger, and Gohma. The more you strike Gleeok, eventually two of his heads will disconnect, becoming mobile and shooting fireballs at you.
8. In "The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess", who is referred to as "The King of Shadows"?

Answer: Zant

Always wearing a helmet, Zant, the Usurper King, is a member of the Twili who overthrows Midna before "The Twilight Princess" begins. He declares himself as ruler of the Twilight Realm. Ultimately, after he is defeated, Zant reveals his face to Link.
9. Who is the primary antagonist in "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks"?

Answer: Malladus

Malladus is a very powerful demon that terrorized Hyrule and its first settlers. Over a century after his capture, Chancellor Cole, one of Princess Zelda's top government officials, desires to release the demon from his jail and so rips up the Spirit Tracks.
10. In the "Legend of Zelda" titles released between 1987 and 2010, how many times had Princess Zelda's body been possessed?

Answer: 2

Princess Zelda has been possessed twice. Ganon possessed her in "The Twilight Princess" and in "Spirit Tracks" Malladus also possess her. In "The Twilight Princess" it is Midna who cleanses the dark powers from Zelda's body after Link breaks the possession.
