Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Kirby's original name?

Answer: Popopo

Kirby's name was going to be Popopo, and the game was to be a one-shot game that "anyone could beat" according to Sakurai. In the Japanese anime, Dedede's city is known as Pupupuland, which could very well been a payment of homage.
2. What is the amount of similarity between Kirby's original design and his later one?

Answer: None at all

Actually, the pink blob we know and love was just a filler sprite. However, it soon grew on the design team.
3. What company made Kirby?

Answer: HAL Laboratory

Although Nintendo commissioned the game, it was developed for them by a private company known as HAL Laboratory or Kabushikigaisha Haru Kenkyusho. The letters "HAL" are an Americanized version of "Haru".
4. According to interviews, what did Miyamoto and Sakurai argue about?

Answer: Kirby's color

Believe it or not, Miyamoto wanted Kirby to be yellow. Go figure. Kirby's name was once Popopo, in the first game he could inhale enemies (but not gain their abilities), and his age is unknown.
5. Is Meta-Knight a villain?

Answer: No

Although translation errors may cause us to believe so, Meta-Knight is not a villain. In fact, most of the time Kirby attacks when Meta-Knight is actually trying to save Dreamland.
6. What is the title for the first "Kirby" game on the Wii?

Answer: "Kirby's Epic Yarn"

"KiraKira" was never released in outside Japan. "Kirby's Triple Deluxe" is a game for the 3DS.
7. What is the official title of the Gourmet Race theme?

Answer: "Run Kirby, Run!"

Nintendo felt the need to be tricky with this one. "Run Kirby, Run!" was the choice for the song title in English, comma and all. According to translators, the exact translation from English to Japanese is pronounced "Ran-boshi no kabyi, jikko!" but I don't know the original title.
8. What is Kirby's Japanese name?

Answer: Kaabii

Kaabii (or Kabii) is how he is known in Japan. His English name is usually credited to Nintendo's lawyer, John Kirby, but there just so happens to be a vaccum company by the name "Kirby".
9. Which boss is the most commonly recurring in the series from "Kirby's Dream Land" to "Kirby Super Star Ultra"?

Answer: Wispy Woods

Waddle Dee isn't even a boss. Wispy Woods is a giant tree. King Dedede is a penguin. Meta-Knight is the same species as Kirby.
10. What was the very first Kirby game?

Answer: "Kirby's Dreamland"

In the original game, Kirby could NOT absorb his enemies' abilities. "Kirby's Adventure" is more widely known, and was remade into the mini-game "Spring Breeze" for "Kirby Super Star" and "Super Star Ultra".
