Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Up to how many Kirbys can the player have active at one time?

Answer: Ten

Kirby's adventure (this time around) is quite unorthodox. An evil entity known as Necrodeus uses a magical staff to split Kirby into ten smaller Kirbys, each one with a tenth of the power of the original. Although he nearly succeeds in squashing all ten of the squishy, pink protagonists, one survives thanks to a powerful star that whisks him away. Collecting one hundred fruit points at any point in the game will add one Kirby to your party to a maximum of ten.

Many levels require a certain number of Kirbys to enter and their performance in each level will determine the type of medal you get at the finishing door.
2. If a regular, pink Kirby is hit once, what colour will it become?

Answer: Blue

Although these miniature Kirbys are weaker than one full-fledged Kirby, they will be able to sustain a bit of damage before floating off to the big, poofy clouds in the sky. When hit once, that particular Kirby will turn blue to indicate that they're on their last legs. If hit again, they will faint and a small Kirby spirit will begin floating to the sky. You can save these little guys though-- throw a surviving Kirby at the spirit to ground it and bring it back to a solid, blue form. Any Kirby can refill its health by passing through a regenerative ring. Most of these are about halfway through a level. Kirbys start every level with full health.
3. Which of these foods will instantly create a new Kirby if you don't have the maximum amount?

Answer: Tomato

The Maxim Tomato makes a reappearance in this game as a highly-coveted item. When nabbed by the Kirbys it will instantly give one hundred fruit points and a new Kirby will be added to the mob. If you already have ten Kirbys you'll still receive the point bonus obtained from reaching a total of one hundred.

The other fruits found in the game have different values. Apples are worth one point, bananas are ten, and melons are thirty. Most of these will drop off of enemies, but many fruits will also be found around the different levels and in metal fruit boxes.
4. Can Kirby fly or flutter in this game?

Answer: No

The only way that Kirbys can reach high-up spots is by grabbing onto the star created by the DS stylus. When held on the screen, rather than simply attract Kirbys to a particular spot, the stylus will also magnetize Kirbys and you can move them around to wherever you decide. This star trail does have a limit however.
Likewise, unlike in earlier games Kirby will not suck up enemies or spit them back out. All attacks in the game can be achieved either by flinging individual Kirbys at enemies or by swarming baddies and beating them up as a mob. It's "Mass Attack", after all.
5. The first area of the game is Green Grounds. How many of its stages are actually underwater?

Answer: One

Stage 10 is the game's first major underwater stage and in it you need to guide your Kirbys through dangerous waters filled with jellyfish and other bad creatures to get to the end. A notable feature of these stages is the inclusion of an air meter. To ensure that your Kirbys survive in the deep sea you'll need to breathe in air bubbles found along the ocean floor or resurface for a breather if possible.

The length of the air meter depends entirely on the amount of Kirbys in your party. Even if segments diminish, your whole group will survive until the entire bar runs out (at which point its an instant game over).
6. The game's second world is Sandy Canyon. During the final boss battle here, the Kirbys are placed upon which odd feature?

Answer: See-saw

While most of this world takes place in the sandy desert and stony ruins, the boss battle actually situates itself on a teeter-totter perched above a spiky pit. From here, the Kirbys will need to fight a plant creature emerging from the ground by hitting it on the head with the weighed-down see-saw.

The battle will require dexterity with the Kirbys to ensure that they don't fall to their deaths as well as persistence, timing, and good recovery in case some are knocked back by an abrupt push of the platform.
7. The third world of the game is a resort run by which of these characters?

Answer: King Dedede

Known as Dedede Resort, World 3 is quite unique as the first four levels are essentially minigames at which you can replenish your Kirby stock and earn some extra fruits. You'll progress to underwater levels (including a mandatory fish boss allowing you to unlock a level marked with a question marks) and you'll spend some time basking in the sun on the beach...of course you'll also be fighting off enemies.

This world progresses inward to a snowy world full of ice and flaming torches before you reach King Dedede's Castle in the center. Dedede himself will fight with bombs and hammers from his hot air balloon until you can ground him and incapacitate him.

Then, it's on to the next world.
8. Which of these environments is not explored in World 4, Volcano Valley?

Answer: Forest

The outer ring of stages in this penultimate world will involve volcanoes, lava, and fire, the second will take the Kirbys to a haunted graveyard and castles, and the third will venture into outer space. An interesting feature of this world is in the third ring of levels-- Kirby will need to hit two '?' switches to open the final stage of the area but one of these requires two levels and a journey into outer space (and a 'to be continued' sequence) to be hit.

The boss of this area is found in the center of a giant volcano and upon beating it a dark, cloudy world will emerge from the skies.
9. What is needed in order to access the Necro Nebula, World 5?

Answer: Rainbow coins

Daroach, the character in control of the hint-giving airship, will tell you that in order to access the final world of the game you'll need to go back through all of the worlds (now accessible due to Kirby's clearing of evil spirits) in order to claim all of the rainbow coins hidden throughout the different levels of the game.

There's one in every world! When finally accumulated, they glow with a rainbow light and unleash their powers granting access to the Necro Nebula World. The Kirbys will then float off to Necrodeus' Realm for the final battle (oh, and a handful of levels too).
10. After defeating Necrodeus in the finale of the game, Kirby will embark upon which activity?

Answer: Fishing

Necro Nebula's four stages will take you through the four major boss battles of the game, forcing you to start with one Kirby and accumulate the ten you need in order to access the final boss, Necrodeus, whose lair opens when you've relived the four fights.

The final boss battle will begin on land where the Kirbys will face off against Necrodeus' hands in two phases. When these are defeated, Necrodeus will shatter the ground, leaving the Kirbys floating in space, and the battle will continue in zero gravity.

When he's finally defeated, the Kirbys can obtain the evil staff and make themselves whole again. In the end, Kirby will return to Popstar to embark on a little fishing trip during the end credits.
