Of the six NES titles, "Mega Man 3" has the most complex story line, although also the most poorly implemented. Dr. Wily and Dr. Light have teamed up to create Gamma, a giant peace keeping robot. Eight Robot Masters steal eight power crystals. You must recover the power crystals and return them to Dr. Light and Dr. Wily's lab. Like "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link", much of the story is not actually in the game, only the instruction manual. 8-bit games didn't have much to memory so gameplay was always the primary focus, not story like today's games.

Red A6 gives you nine energy tanks. Red D2, F2, and C3 gives you eight, seven, and six tanks respectively. In "Mega Man 4" you can no longer keep your energy tanks through your password feature. "Mega Man 2", in comparison, only allows you have to have four tanks.
