You unlock Daisy by winning (getting a gold trophy) on every cup in the Retro Grand Prix (Shell Cup, Banana Cup, Leaf Cup and Lightning Cup) in 50cc mode.

You unlock Waluigi by winning (getting a gold trophy) on every cup in the Retro Grand Prix, but in 100cc mode.

You unlock R.O.B. by winning every cup in 150cc Mirror, and 150cc Mirror is unlocked when you get gold trophies on the 150cc Retro Grand Prix. R.O.B. stands for Robot Operating Buddy.

You can also unlock Dry Bones by winning (getting a gold trophy) every cup in the Nitro Grand Prix (Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Star Cup and Special Cup) in 50cc mode.

There are eight cups: Mushroom, Flower, Star, Special, Shell, Banana, Leaf and Lightning. Within each cup, there are four tracks (for a total of 32 tracks) e.g. "Figure-8 Circuit", "Yoshi Falls", "Cheep Cheep Beach" and "Luigi's Mansion" on the Mushroom Cup.

Super Leaf appears in "Mario Kart 7", but not "Mario Kart DS".

Green Shells shoot straight forward and bounce off walls if any are. Fake Item Boxes look similar to real Item Boxes, luring people into running into them. Getting hit by either of these knock you head over heels, slowing you down.

Mushrooms give you speed boosts - the Golden Mushroom lets you get boosts over and over for a limited period of time.

In the mission 1-2 (second mission in level one), you have to collect 15 coins with the character Peach.

In the mission 1-1, you drive through five gates in order on the Figure-8 Circuit.

In the mission 1-6, you have to drive backwards out of Luigi's Mansion.

A boss mission is unlocked by completing all (eight) of the normal missions in that level. For instance, in level two, you have to complete levels 2-1 through to 2-9 (in any order) before you unlock the level two boss mission (hit Eyerok's eyeball with three green shells).

In the level one boss mission, you (Yoshi) need to knock Big Bully off the stage three times. There is an item box in the center which always gives you Triple Mushrooms - using these allows you to push Big Bully back.

You have to defeat Big Bob-omb in the level five boss mission, race the Goomboss in the level three boss mission and collect coins avoiding King Boo in the level four boss mission.

Answer: Complete levels 1 to 6 with 1+ star rankings on every single level

Every time you complete a mission, you get a ranking. Three stars is the best ranking, followed by two and one stars, A-D and the lowest rank: E. Most rankings are based on the time you take to complete the mission.

For the level seven boss mission, you must complete three laps of Mushroom Bridge before the Wiggler. Knock into him or a truck and you lose one of your three balloons. Lose all of them and you instantly lose the mission. The Wiggler takes a "shortcut" in the middle of the track, which you can only use (effectively) with a star or a speed boost mushroom. Stars can be gained from item boxes floating around the course, and speed boost mushrooms are found underneath trucks (which the Wiggler knocks off the course).

Answer: Balloons and Shine Sprites

The first game is "Balloon Battle" - each player starts with one balloon and four deflated balloons they can inflate at any point in the battle. The aim is to pop other people's balloons using items such as shells or bananas, or to steal balloons by running into another player while using a mushroom/boost.

The other game is "Shine Runners": in this game, shine sprites appear in various places along the course and the aim is to collect as many as possible. Items can be used to get other people to lose shines, and at various time intervals, the player (or players) with the fewest sprites are eliminated until only one player remains.
