Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The enemy design in "Mass Effect 3" was much more intricate than previous titles in the series. Different enemy types would work together to make things difficult for players. Which Reaper unit would add extra armour plating to Husks and Cannibals?

Answer: Marauders

Marauders were made by corrupting turians. They were the next most dangerous Reaper enemy, after Husks and Cannibals. They would often appear alongside Husks and Cannibals, and give them armour plating. The plates had to be shot off before the enemy beneath could be damaged. Players could also shoot around the plates, or use armour-piercing weapons. Marauders were more cautious, and used cover and conventional movement and shooting, rather than rushing at players.

They used the turian made Phaeston assault rifles to attack from mid range.
2. Cerberus was a fanatical human faction, and had a wide variety of roles for its soldiers. Which Cerberus units used sniper rifles to attack Shepard from long range?

Answer: Nemeses

Nemeses were small women dressed entirely in black. They could still be seen at long range by their glowing red optics. Nemeses carried M-13 Raptor rifles, and would try to assassinate enemies. They had low health and shields, but their small figure and range made them difficult to hit, compared to other Cerberus troops. They also spent more time in cover than the front line soldiers.
3. Cloaking technology was becoming prominent in the galaxy, and a few enemy factions used it to their advantage. Which geth units could cloak themselves?

Answer: Geth Hunters

Geth Hunters were armed with Geth Plasma Shotguns, and would cloak themselves to get close to their targets. When they were not cloaked, they were still painted black, and difficult to see. While players could see the distortion of a cloaked unit, they could not target it with powers. Payers had to either shoot a Geth Hunter, or fire their powers in a straight line to hit a cloaked one.

A Geth Hunter would also decloak when it attacked, though that usually meant it was right beside a player, and that that player was in trouble.
4. Which Reaper unit deployed small suicide units called Swarmers?

Answer: Ravagers

Ravagers were made by corrupting rachni. In "Mass Effect" rachni were seen on Noveria, and they would sometimes be supported by rachni workers, which were small, fast, suicide units. The Reapers mutated the workers into Swarmers, and had Ravagers carry them in sacks. Ravagers would periodically release Swarmers, or would release many if the player shot open the sacks. Swarmers were incredibly weak, but easy to miss when fighting stronger enemies.

A group of them could destroy a player's shields or knock them out of cover.
5. Which geth units brought combat drones and turrets to the battlefield?

Answer: Geth Primes

Geth Primes were the largest and most powerful geth unit players could face. They towered over players, and had strong shields and armor. They could not take cover, but they hardly needed it. They carried devastating pulse cannons that could quickly strip the shields and barriers of anyone caught out of cover. To make things more difficult, Geth Primes would also release combat drones and turrets to flank players, and push them out of cover.

The turrets and drones were weak, but could easily be recreated by the Geth Primes.
6. Assault Troopers were the core of the Cerberus military. Often they would come in squads, supported by a Centurion or two. What did Cerberus Centurions have that Assault Troopers did not?

Answer: Shields

Centurions were slightly stronger Assault Troopers, most notably with the addition of shields. Usually there would be one Centurion leading about three Assault Troopers. These units often worked together to move quickly and attack the enemy. They all had jump jets to quickly move up or down levels.
7. Which geth units would NOT try to close the distance between them and their target?

Answer: Geth Rocket Troopers

Many geth units would try to close the distance between them and the player, making the battlefield more frantic. Geth Pyros would try to get in range to use their flamethrowers. Primes were unable to take cover, but could take a beating, and were more effective when able to push enemies out of cover. Being close also let them use their strong melee attacks. Geth Hunters were armed with shotguns, and would cloak themselves to get into effective range. Only the regular Geth Troopers and Geth Rocket Troopers were content to sit in cover and shoot from afar. Rocket Troopers obviously did not want to get caught in the blast radius of their own attacks.
8. What was the name of the heavy Cerberus mechs that could be commandeered?

Answer: Atlases

Atlases were large Cerberus mechs that could fire rockets and a large mass accelerator. They were piloted by regular Assault Troopers. In Multiplayer, the Atlases could only be destroyed. In single player, however, Shepard could use armor piercing weapons to break the cockpit and kill the pilot without destroying the mech.

Shepard could then pilot the mech personally, and use it against Cerberus.
9. Which heavy Reaper unit was created by corrupting asari Ardat-Yakshi?

Answer: Banshees

Ardat-Yakshi were introduced in "Mass Effect 2" as asari mutants that could not bond with another being without killing them. The asari kept the Ardat-Yakshi a secret and hidden away on the planet Lesuss. In "Mass Effect 3", the Reapers attacked Lesuss and corrupted the asari they found, creating the Banshees. Banshees were the strongest Reaper units, and terrifying to behold.

They used biotics to protect themselves and attack players, and would use Biotic Charge to quickly move towards players. They had the strongest barriers and armour of any Reaper unit, and could instantly execute any player that got too close to their claws.
10. Which enemy faction used Barrier Engines to give nearby units additional biotic barriers?

Answer: Reapers

Barrier Engines were fixtures that could be found in Reaper controlled areas. They would give any nearby units barriers, even if that unit normally would not have them. Shepard could attack the Barrier Engines to deny the Reapers this bonus.

Similarly, Cerberus had Shield Generators that would give shields to anyone nearby (friend or foe), and would power portable cover. Barrier Engines and Shield Generators were only seen in single player.

The Collectors were the main antagonists in "Mass Effect 2". They never appeared in the single player portion of "Mass Effect 3", but they were introduced to multiplayer with the "Retaliation" downloadable content.
