Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Explosive protector

Answer: Bomb Guardian

The Bomb Guardian is one of the earliest bosses of the game (following Alpha and Dark Alpha Splinter). To begin the battle, the Alpha Sandigger will be in its light form. Much like regular Sandiggers around Agon Wastes, the battle will be quite straightforward (you attack the back half and not the head).

When the battle is well underway, Dark Aether's influence will fall into place and Alpha Sandigger will turn into the Bomb Guardian. This boss makes use of Samus' Morph Ball Bombs to attack. While evasion is quite simple, all Samus needs to do is keep distance and shoot. Following the battle, Samus can claim the Morph Ball Bomb.
2. Surge of an absence of light

Answer: Darkburst

The Darkburst is an upgradable missile/beam combo found in Mining Station B of Agon Wastes. This combo makes use of five missiles and thirty Dark Beam ammo in order to fire. Although this method is often quite powerful, it's very slow once it's shot.
Contrasting this, the Sunburst is found in the Windchamber of the light Temple Grounds. Much like the Darkburst, it uses five missiles and thirty Light Beam ammo. Unlike the Darkburst which creates a vortex of Dark Energy, the Sunburst is a rapid-fire shot, much like a laser. It's one of the more popular shots of the game.
The Annihilator Beam version of the missile/beam combo is the Sonic Boom. It makes use of thirty of each type of beam ammo and it can be found in Ing Cache 2 of Dark Agon Wastes.
3. Fragment of wood

Answer: Splinter

Splinters are very basic enemies which can be quite agile, but at the same time, very weak. The average Splinter (light or dark) won't do much damage, but they often appear in small groups, making it a bit more difficult to hit them. In the Luminoth Temple overtop the Temple Grounds of Light Aether, Samus can encounter the Alpha Splinter and fight it in order to reach the Energy Controller that U-Mos decides to hand over. During this battle though, Alpha Splinter will decide to switch into Dark Alpha Splinter.

Although the battle is fairly basic and similar to other Splinter battles, the aggressiveness of this boss will force Samus (who does have quite minimal health at this stage of the game) to fight a bit harder than normal.
4. Hook Ray

Answer: Grapple Beam

The Grapple Beam, while having no effect on enemies, is a useful item in terms of transportation use. Aiming and pushing the L button at any Grapple Hook or enemy that acts as such an object will cause the beam to shoot and swing Samus across pits and other gaps or objects. Unless Samus lets go of the the beam, she will continue to sway with her initial momentum. The Grapple Beam is given to Samus after defeating the Grapple Guardian in Dark Torvus Bog's Sacrificial Chamber (it's in one of the larger rooms of the undertemple). Acting much like a Grenchler, this dark boss will only take damage from the back.

When the creature shoots at Samus with the Grapple Beam, it will pull her in and damage her energy. Ideally, Samus needs to get the beam to latch onto energy columns in the room, giving her the chance to attack.
5. Sound reverberation hat brim

Answer: Echo Visor

The Echo Visor, found in the Aerie arena of Sanctuary Fortress, is obtained after Samus fights and defeats Dark Samus (for the second time during the game). The first time Samus did this was in order to obtain the Dark Visor in Agon Wastes. The Echo Visor is similar to the X-Ray Visor from "Metroid Prime 1" in the sense that it allows Samus to see into a different sight. Any object producing adequate sound waves will appear as a reverberation on the visor screen.

This item is ideal in hitting hidden, wireless switches which transmit signals to locked doors.

The visor works much like sonar, identifying enemies and obstacles via a radar-like ping.
6. TNT of work over a period of time

Answer: Power Bomb

Power Bombs are located in the Undertemple of Dark Torvus Bog, and while they have a certain amount of stock (like Missiles) they'll be necessary to complete most of the game. Samus defeats the Power Bomb Guardian in this room (the Dark Aether version of where Alpha Blogg was found) to claim the prize, but to do this, the Spider Ball is needed. Samus can accumulate seven Power Bomb Expansions throughout the game bringing her total from three to ten. Power Bombs can destroy Denzium, a strong material found all over Aether.

They also have the ability to destroy yellow locked doors.
7. Alertness-type machine

Answer: Diligence Class Drone

Regarded as a Small Mechanoid class enemy, the Diligence Class Drone is a tunnel-dwelling robot found in Sanctuary Fortress' hallways. Using three laser branches, it will spin in circles as it moves up and down its room. To kill these creatures, the Dark Beam is needed, but luckily it will have been attained by this point in the game.

As well, the movement of these creatures will end up scrambling the feed on Samus' visor. Similarly, Harmony Class Drones are near-identical sentinels found in the Luminoth Temple.

The difference is that these creatures will float independently without trawling up and down tunnels. As well, these will drop bombs on any enemies below. Unlike Diligence Class Drones, their Harmony counterparts can be killed by any beam weapon.
8. Garrison haven

Answer: Sanctuary Fortress

Sanctuary Fortress is the fourth of four major regions of the game (after the Temple Grounds, Agon Wastes, and Torvus Bog). This futuristic area, created by the Luminoth many cycles ago, had been turned evil by the influence of the Ing and their darkness. Now, as Samus travels through it, the Mechanoid creatures within have been programmed to attack all intruders. Sanctuary Fortress is filled with rather obscure objects (gyroscopes and reactors, for example) but none are actually given a raison d'etre.

When Samus switches back into Dark Aether, Sanctuary Fortress becomes the Ing Hive. While there is still an abundance of robots under Ing control in this dimension, there are also numerous Dark Pirate Troopers.
9. Recovery base

Answer: Save Station

Save Stations are found in numerous locations throughout the game, and nearly every one can be put to good use at some point. Save Stations have both the ability to save the game and the ability to regenerate Samus' energy to full capacity.
Similarly, Samus can also find Map Stations and Ammo Stations in different points of the game. Map Stations can only be used once, but their information can be used all across Aether and Dark Aether. On the other hand, Ammo Stations are only found in Dark Aether. They refill Beam Ammunition, Missiles, and Power Bombs to their maximums.
10. Spiralling offensive movement

Answer: Screw Attack

Found in the near-impenetrable Vault of Sanctuary Fortress, the Screw Attack is an object not seen since the earlier days of "Metroid" gaming. The Screw Attack is similar to the Space Jump Boots in the sense that it affects Samus' jumping ability. Basically, Samus can run and jump into the air, then continue pressing the B button to jump up to an additional five times.

This, in turn, will assist Samus in jumping across large gaps that were normally uncrossable. Furthermore, this new accessory will cause damage to certain enemies if Samus rams into them while performing the feat.
