Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Arguably the most important NPC for beginning players, this prominent military leader of the city of Neverwinter is the man who will primarily administer your quests until you reach level 70. Who is this NPC (non-playable character)?

Answer: Sergeant Knox

Sergeant Knox is the one who ultimately welcomes you to Neverwinter in the first place, outfitting you with starter gear and administering your quests. He will also notify you of Archdruid Morningdawn's request to speak with you, which will begin the Elemental Evil campaign, the first campaign to administer important Boons to the player.
2. As Valindra leads an attack on Neverwinter, there is plenty of chaos as the city tries to defend itself. Meanwhile, an enemy force invades the city, under veil of this chaos, and steals Lord Neverember's crown! Who is this enemy group?

Answer: The Nashers

The Nashers, a rebel force bent on overthrowing Neverember, breaks into the city's treasury as they're under attack and steals Neverember's crown. The first questline in the entire game entails the player venturing deep into Nasher territory at the Blacklake District to retrieve the crown.
3. As the player travels to Blacklake District for their first ever Deed, they are informed that Hazel the Alchemist and another unidentified NPC are in danger of being overwhelmed by the nearby Undead, with the NPC giving you this report pleading with you to come to their aid. Obliging with this request would involve triggering the Terror at Blacklake Skirmish. What is a Skirmish?

Answer: A multiplayer mode involving the party killing everything in sight

While a Skirmish could be soloed, the mode itself is intended to be multiplayer. Here, a party of up to five people from level 6-13 can partake in this Skirmish. As you progress in level, new Skirmishes will come and go until you reach level 70, where you'll then have unending access to the Skirmishes "Master of the Hunt", "Prophecy of Madness", "Master Illusionist's Gambit", "Dread Legion", and "Merchant Prince's Folly."
4. Maps, such as the Tower District and Blackdagger Ruins, are fairly easy to complete alone. However, the game will recommend at least three players enter the Cragmire Crypts dungeon, a dungeon based off the Blackdagger Ruins Map, and the game will allow up to five players to embark upon this dungeon. Why is this?

Answer: Dungeons based off a Deed or Campaign contain enemies harder than those found in that Deed or Campaign

In the Cragmire Crypts example, the reason the game recommends three players enter the dungeon is that the enemies, aesthetically and mechanically the same as those found in Blackdagger Ruins, are three times bulkier and harder hitting than those enemies.

In other words, they're the same exact enemies, just three times harder to defeat. Therefore, having three times the number of people offsets this increase in difficulty. That said, it is certainly possible to solo a dungeon if a player so desired.

In fact, some of the game's greatest challenges come from soloing the game's hardest dungeons. Standard dungeons are typically pretty easy for a level 70 player, especially an end game one, to solo, but soloing an Epic Dungeon is almost never truly a cakewalk.
5. If a class has a Primary Attribute, what does that mean?

Answer: This is the class' most important Skill

There are six Skills on every character: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Every class in the game has one Primary Attribute and two Secondary Attributes. For example, the Guardian Fighter's Primary Attribute is Constitution, because the core foundation of the class is built around how bulky and defensive they are. You will want to focus your efforts on building up your Primary and one of your Secondary Attributes; Skills that do not fall under one of these designations are pointless trying to level up, as they will nor contribute towards the character's intended degree of success.
6. If one were to try to gather a party for a dungeon, they might wish to try the Public Queue option. Doing this will force the party to carry three DPS, one Healer, and one Tank loadout. What is the primary job of the DPS characters?

Answer: Deal as much damage as possible, as quickly as possible

DPS stands for "Damage-Per-Second" and is thus a basic way of suggesting that these three players are responsible for the majority of the offense created in a dungeon run through. Natural DPS loadouts are the Great Weapon Fighter, Scourge Warlock, Trickster Rogue, Control Wizard, and Hunter Ranger.

It is worth noting that, while Guardian Fighters and Devoted Clerics can craft viable DPS loadouts, they cannot queue to be DPS themselves, and will always be registered in the Public Server as Tanks and Healers, respectively.
7. If you were a Guardian Fighter looking to use the game's Public Server to queue for a dungeon, you would be registered as a Tank. What is the primary responsibility of the Tank?

Answer: Take initiative in fights and deviate opposing forces away from the rest of the party, absorbing damage for them

While many people choose to hog the glory of killing everything in sight as DPS characters, all too often is the hard work of the Tank overlooked at the end of the game. However, Tanks are very highly sought out commodities; the role is difficult to effectively fill, and is all too essential. Where two or three people are responsible for the majority of the offensive firepower of the party, typically only one Tank will be responsible for absorbing the majority of the party's damage.

They must be adequately equipped to do this job, which is easier said than done.

As you level up through the game and acquire better gear, it is important to manage your gear, Powers, Feats, and Boons with your defenses in mind. Good stats to prioritize are Maximum HP, Defense, Deflect, and Life Steal. Life Steal, in particular, is an oft overlooked stat that is essential for a Tank.

While it is true that the Healer's #1 job is to provide backup for the Tank, in the real world, these snobby Healers are often too busy trying to look cool providing buffs and trying to catch any whiff of the limelight those DPS snowflakes so desperately want (they're buffing DPS characters to improve their damage loadout, thus finish the dungeon faster) and they're only going to give the Tank the absolute bare necessity Heal support. Life Steal allows the Tank to be even more self sufficient than they already are, by providing healing for themselves.

When combined with a godlike Fighter's Recovery Power, it's no wonder why Tanks are the definitive bes- er, I mean, a really, really good class that a party often cannot afford to be without.
8. If you are a Devoted Cleric and you register for a Public Queue to enter a dungeon, you will be registered as a Healer. What is the responsibility of the Healer?

Answer: Keep the health of the entire party high, and provide buffs when able

Devoted Clerics have two well known loadouts: the Anointed Champion, and the Divine Oracle. The former is the Heal DC, while the latter is the Buff DC. In the earlygoing of the game, Heal DCs are infinitely more useful than Buff DCs. This is because the Cleric, much like in tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, is meant to first and foremost heal and keep everyone's health high, while also removing any debuffs or other nasty effects they may be suffering from.

At the game's higher levels, one of the typical three DPS characters will be omitted in favor of a second DC. An unwritten rule in "Neverwinter" is that the higher leveled DC becomes responsible for the Healing, while the lower levelled handles the duty of Buffing everyone.

However, in parties where only one DC is present, Healing everyone is infinitely more useful than Buffing them. Buff DCs should be viewed as a luxury, while Heal DCs should be viewed as a necessity for any serious party.

However, on the Tomb of the Nine Gods dungeon (an end game Epic dungeon) an exception is made, where the Buff DC becomes a requirement for any serious party to have; the Buffs provided become necessary for the party to defeat Orcus and Ras Nsi, bosses on this dungeon.
9. If somebody tells you that they think their At Wills, Encounters, Dailies, and Personals are well aligned, what are they suggesting?

Answer: Their Powers are optimized

These are all names of Powers every character has. At-Wills, as the term implies, are Powers a character can always use, that do not need to be charged and have no cooldown. An example of these would be the Astral Lance on the Devoted Cleric or the Guardian Fighter's Weapon Master's Strike. Encounters are Powers which do not need to be charged, but do have moderate cooldown periods, and thus cannot be used whenever the player wants. Examples of these are the Oathbound Paladin's Astral Shield or the Hunter Ranger's Split the Sky. Dailies are Powers which do not necessarily have cooldown, but do need to have the Action Meter full in order to be used.

The Action Meter can be filled by striking or being struck by enemies, receiving a Buff from an ally, or using another Power which has a side effect of charging the Action Meter. Examples of Dailies would be the Great Weapon Fighter's Crescendo or the Devoted Cleric's Hallowed Ground. Finally, Personals are Powers which are automatically activated upon the triggering of a conflict, and thus do not need to be manually used in order to begin to take effect. Examples of these are the Guardian Fighter's Shield Talent or the Devoted Cleric's Divine Fortune.
10. Upon reaching level 60, Lord Neverember will administer the player a quest titled "Vault of the Nine." This quest entails the player visiting the Vault of the Nine, in the underground depths on Castle Never property, to retrieve the Vault before enemy Drow soldiers can loot it. What will Neverember reward the player with upon the retrieval of the Vault?

Answer: The Sigil artifact according to the player's class

Whichever class the player originally selected will be the Sigil Artifact they receive. The intriguing twist is that this is an account-wide reward that will permanently be available via the Rewards Agent in the Protector's Enclave. For example, my Guardian Fighter has completed this quest, so every character I ever make moving forward will immediately have access to the Sigil of the Guardian Artifact, regardless of their level.
