Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Following your escapades through Fangbreaker Island, the last stop to prevent the destruction of the existence of everything as you know it is here. Who is the mastermind, bent on evilly utilizing the Ring of Winter to bring about the world's destruction, who you must defeat?

Answer: Jarl Storvard

Of the four options, Harshnag is an ally, and Svardborg is the name of the fortress you are assaulting. Drufi was slayed back on Fangbreaker Island, while it is Jarl Storvard, leader of the Frost Giants, wearing the bullseye. Be prepared to do battle with the mightiest Frost Giant in the entire game! Hopefully you came prepared, because he is truly a formidable foe!
2. Upon entering the fight, you are told you have fifteen minutes to defeat the final boss. What happens upon the end of fifteen minutes?

Answer: Everyone dies and cannot be revived, forcing the party to start over

Much like the Trial of Tiamat, your party is placed on a timer to defeat Storvald. If you fail to meet this timer, he will trigger the Ring of Winter and promptly use it to annihilate everybody. The icy explosion is absolutely fantastical, to the point where words cannot truly describe how utterly destroyed everyone will be. Thankfully, fifteen minutes is fairly generous, and a good party should be able to easily meet this mark.
3. While fighting the final boss, there will be three times where they leave the battlefield, summon a blizzard, and spawn two mini-boss animals to fight the party with. The party must kill these animals within their three chances, or they will lose the entire Skirmish. What are these animals?

Answer: Manticores

These Manticores are essentially carbon copies of Hati from Fangbreaker Island. They fight in the same exact way, have the same exact amount of health, and only have slight aesthetic differences in skin color. The two differences between this fight and the fight against Hati are, for one, you are fighting two Manticores this time instead of one. For the other, the space to fight them in is much, much more cramped than fighting Hati.

The Ring of Winter's blizzard will confine all of the players in the party to a small, circled in area. Do not let the Manticores push you into the blizzard; you will suffer big damage and massive knockback if you do.
4. As you first enter the battlefield, you will fight off several Frost Giants joined by hordes upon hordes of Trolls. Upon defeating them all, one of your allies will yell out "Get behind something!" Before running and taking cover behind one of the pillars positioned on the corners of the battlefield. What will happen if the player refuses to, or fails, to take cover?

Answer: They die

Here, Storvard uses the Ring of Winter to create a massive explosion on the battlefield that will immediately kill everybody, regardless of resistance, if they tried to dodge (with a Hunter Ranger or Trickster Rogue dash or Teleport) or if they tried to shield (in the case of a Guardian Fighter) or even if they had tons of temporary HP from a spell conjured by a Devoted Cleric or Oathbound Paladin. If you made it behind the pillar, you will not be effected at all. Thankfully, there are four total pillars to hide behind, leaving more than enough room for the entire party to find somewhere to hide.
5. On Fangbreaker Island, there was one role to fill that was by far the most important to fill. Here, on Svardborg Assault, the weight of roles to fill is very prevalent as well. Which role is the most important role to fill in your party?

Answer: They are all of equal importance

It is of vital importance that everybody in your ten person party is well equipped to handle this Skirmish. Everybody needs to chip in to: the Tank is the only character who can survive a single one of Storvard's Ring of Winter-based strikes with his massive Warhammer.

The Tank will actually sometimes fail to do this, even with their shield up, unless they are getting backed up by an incredibly powerful Healer of some sort, typically a Devoted Cleric since Oathbound Paladins, save for those of absolutely elite caliber, typically won't cut it. Finally, since you are on a timer to finish this conflict, you need characters who can actually work towards killing Storvard. Enter the DPS loadouts, who will need to be well equipped to not only kill Storvard, but to also kill the two Manticores that he summons. Great Weapon Fighters need to be absolutely certain to stay away from the Guardian Fighter that is Tanking Storvard, however, or they will get slaughtered by the Ring of Winter, as Storvard's attack will hit anybody who might be standing inside a small area. Given that the Guardian Fighter has enough trouble surviving these blows, it stands to reason the Great Weapon Fighter has absolutely no chance themselves.

However, Great Weapon Fighters are critically important to have when fighting the Manticores; they rely much less on putting distance between themselves and the speedy beasts than Hunter Rangers or Scourge Warlocks do, and they will be able to chase the Manticores around the circled in area they are put in. Not that Hunter Rangers or Scourge Warlocks are by any means dead weight, but they will certainly have a difficult time contending with the Manticores, who move very quickly around the small, couped in area.
6. As the final boss uses their most powerful attack, they will yell out a very basic but dire threat at whomever they are targeting with their attack, before they use it. What is it that they say?

Answer: "You will die alone!"

Similarly to fighting Valindra on Valindra's Tower, you can tell what Storvald is about to do based on what he says. Unfortunately, Storvald's cold Magic will hold you in place after he screams this, meaning you cannot dodge the ensuing blow, and can only put up your shield, if applicable, to try to survive the onslaught. Worth noting is that no player in the entire game is capable, or ever will be capable, of surviving this blow if it dishes out a Critical Hit, so you really want luck to be on your side for this one.
7. This map is unique, in the sense that it distributes Treasure Chests totally different from any other map in the game. There are three chests in all. What do you need to access them?

Answer: Elk Tribe, Frost Giant, and Arcane Brotherhood Reputation

You can obtain these three reputations by doing quests in the Storm King's Thunder campaign. Elk Tribe Reputation can be gathered through fishing at the Sea of Moving Ice and donating the fish you catch to the Elk Tribe Fishmonger. Frost Giant Reputation is obtained through doing Princess Serissa's weekly mission at the Sea of Moving Ice. Finally, Arcane Brotherhood Reputation is obtained by running Kavatos Stormeye's daily missions at the Sea of Moving Ice. You can also access these chests with Legendary Dragon Keys, but unless you are attempting to obtain Marks for the SOMI equipment kit, this is far from a fair trade, and it is highly recommended to pay for these chests with their respective Reputations instead. All told, you may even be wary of doing this if you are not trying to develop the aforementioned equipment kit, as much of what you will be receiving from these chests will contain Rough Rubies, Emerald Rubies, various Legendary Marks used to upgrade that kit, and Ostorian Rings.
8. By far the campaign's focal point, what is done with the Ring of Winter after you finally are able to acquire it?

Answer: We do not know

Drawing the ire of many of the players within the game's community, the story ends with a truly disappointing twist, or lackthereof. While the Storm King's Thunder campaign drew much criticism and was generally not well received by the player community, it was the lack of actual end to the story that would come in second behind the tediousness of the overall campaign in displeasing the fanbase. Really, Storvard is killed, and the Ring of Winter may as well have died with him. For such a major point of such a lengthy campaign to go neglected was truly a disappointment.
9. After the fight is over, the player has the option to speak with all of the notable NPCs who "helped" the player throughout the campaign. Among this crew is Xuna, who you met at Bryn Shander and Lonelywood. Following Makos' heroic sacrifice back at Fangbreaker Island, as he died defending the party from Drufi the Herald of Winter as they tried to escape it, your second successful trip to Fangbreaker Island saw you recover Makos' corpse, which had been preserved by the unnatural cold on the island. Unfortunately, upon returning it to Celeste, even after having the resurrection ritual paid for by Lord Neverember, the ritual failed, and Makos' body was subsequently burned. Why does Celeste believe her ritual failed?

Answer: She believes Makos' spirit was unwilling to be resurrected

Xuna and Catti-Brie seemed to know Makos more than the other NPCs that travelled alongside you in this campaign. Both of them, during the campaign, at individual points expressed their concern over Makos' progressively deteriorating mental state, with Catti-Brie telling you she believed Makos was being spiritually affected by something that she believed may drive him over the top. Celeste will tell you she believed that, as a result of Makos' dark past with his father, and that he had been through a lot of conflict, war, and general fighting throughout his life, he was tired of the turmoil and that his spirit was unwilling to accept being resurrected as a result. Xuna, on the other hand, will be in a constant state of denial if you ask her about her thoughts, and will believe that Makos is actually alive somewhere in the world. Of course, Xuna is very clearly not rationally thinking in saying this, as Makos' body was very clearly cremated, as he had wanted.
10. If you choose to speak to Harshnag after the fight is over, he has a lot on his mind. What two feelings does Harshnag express in his monologue here?

Answer: Acceptance, albeit remorse, that attacking Svardborg was necessary and compulsion to prevent this from happening again

Harshnag, the only Frost Giant to defect away from Storvard's forces and into yours, has been an advocate of only using violence as necessary to recover the Ring of Winter. While he clearly understands Storvard had to die, and agrees with the decision to assault the Svardborg fortress, Harshnag will later express that he wishes that it wasn't necessary.

He vows that if he decides to, and is named King of the Frost Giants, he will convert the Frost Giants into a people that can be at piece with the smallfolk. Between Princess Serissa the Storm Giant and Harshnag, the two Giants on your team seem to have been the only Giants other than Storvard and Drufi capable of forming intelligent thoughts, and doing something other than breaking and destroying things.
