Of the available choices, Kain and Yang make up the best response. Kain confronts Cecil in the Crystal chamber of Fabul, where you will lose. Yang confronts the party in Baron after Cecil has become a Paladin. It should be noted that Rydia confronts Cecil and Kain after the package decimates Village Mist, however Rosa is never on the other side of the field.

My personal favorite spell... a non-elemental attack that comes back just after you enter the next command. Virus also causes its target to rapidly lose hit points for a time. A Virus spell followed by a successful Weak spell leads to nearly instantaneous death.

When you find the Humingway colony on the moon, we hear the story of one person who had a knack for nicknames who travelled to Earth. If you look hard enough, you'll find Namingway among the Humingway people, as well as an item salesman.

Answer: Both of these places

If you step on the glowing spots, you will see a bright flash of light, and each member of your party will take damage. These are not fatal, but they can reduce your HP levels down to 1 if you don't use the Float spell. Using float on all party members each time you walk through a door counters these effects.

Edge's boomerang weapons and any of Kain's lances function well against enemies that are weak against arrows. Rydia's whips do not serve that purpose, but occasionally they will paralyze her foe. However, she's the best offensive wizard in the game! Let the Caller have a Rod!

Size is a White magic spell, while Piggy and Toad are Black magic spells. Imp is an Effect spell from "Final Fantasy 3 US".

EDIT - Imp is indeed an acquired Call spell in "Final Fantasy 2 US", however, it is definitely not a transformation spell in this game.

Answer: Defense sword

This sword is non-elemental, more powerful than the Light sword (Sealed Cave), and also raises Cecil's defense. What more could you ask for? Avenger is found in the Sylvan cave, takes two hands to hold, and Bersks the user. Excalbur can be forged from the Legend and the Adamant ore after the Giant of Bab-Il is defeated.

Answer: Psych

Drain, Asura, and Sylph all have the potential to recover HP: either Rydia's HP (Drain) or the HP of the party (Sylph and Asura). Note that occasionally Asura will revive all fallen party members (very annoying if you were looking for HP). Psych is a spell that Rydia can use to recover her MP at the expense of the spells target.

Answer: Whale

The Big Whale is called by the Mysidians shortly after Kain runs off with the last Dark Crystal. Travel around the overworld by using the control at the front of the ship. Travel to/from the moon by talking to the Crystal of Flight. This posh ship also comes equipped with free recovery beds and a Big Chocobo for storage without Carrots or Whistles. To travel in the Underground, you'll have to switch to the Enterprise or the Falcon.
