Final Fantasy I-V Trivia Questions

1. In what order are the Elemental Fiends fought?

From Quiz
Final Fantasy I

Answer: The Lich, Marilith, The Kraken, Tiamat

The bosses are fought in this order, The Lich, Marilith, The Kraken, Tiamat. The Lich is found in the Cavern of Earth, Marilith in Mt. Gulg, the Kraken in the Sunken Shrine, and Tiamat in the Floating Fortress.

2. A Job here provides transferable secondary skills that can be used alongside another Job's fixed primary skills. What commodity is required in order to learn these secondary skills?

From Quiz Get a Job!

Answer: ABP

ABP -- or Ability Points -- are earned after successful battles. Most regular enemy groups give 1 ABP, so earning most abilities is slow, especially considering that some of the better ones require hundreds of points to learn. The regular Jobs have a secondary skill slot that utilises a chosen ability learnt from other Jobs. For example, if you earn 45 ABP in total with a fist-fighting Monk, the Barehanded skill is unlocked. Equipping this skill in a healing White Mage's secondary slot will give them equal attack power to a Monk when unarmed, and will thus provide them a bit of physical bite they otherwise wouldn't have. The squirrels in the Jacohl cave are a decent early source of ABP (5 for the Skull Eaters) as are the stone knights in the Bal/Val Castle basement (8 ABP for 5). Lategame wise, enemies in the very last area of the N-Zone/Void are packed with ABP; the Movers can give 199 ABP in one fight! In terms of the incorrect options, EXP is used for increasing levels, which in turn increase Max HP, MP and base stats. Gil is the game's currency, and crystal shards house the Job souls within.

3. In which order are the crystals lit up within the game?

From Quiz Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls

Answer: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind

It may be easier to remember the fiends associated with each crystal: Lich, Marilith, Kraken and Tiamat respectively.

4. At the beginning of the game, what is Cecil collecting for the King?

From Quiz "Final Fantasy II" - A SNES Masterpiece

Answer: crystals

With each "Final Fantasy" game being different from the others in the series, crystals remain a constant in the games. In some of the games, they are central to the storyline. In others, they serve a lesser function.

5. Ahriman is a boss found in which dungeon?

From Quiz "Final Fantasy 1" Monsters

Answer: Earthgift Shrine

Ahriman is a boss found in the Earthgift Shrine in the" Dawn of Souls" and "20th Anniversary Collection" for the Gameboy and PSP respectively. It is the most powerful boss in the dungeon. It has high HP and moderate attack stat, but it's Earthquake ability can Insta-Kill any party member unless they have protect rings or have NulDeath cast on them.

6. What character was named after a Sumerian king?

From Quiz Think You Know "Final Fantasy V"?

Answer: Gilgamesh

Ahh, Gilgamesh. Perhaps my favorite of all "Final Fantasy" characters. So, he was named after a famous Sumerian king. Interesting fact: in the "Tale of Gilgamesh," which is a story of the king's deeds, Gilgamesh had a friend named Enkidu, and Gilgamesh also has one in "Final Fantasy V." Gilgamesh is also the only character to appear in multiple "Final Fantasy" installments and be the same character throughout.

7. How many different modes of transportation are there in the game? Include the "Serpent Trench" and any non-playable transports as your answer as well.

From Quiz "Final Fantasy IV" - PSX

Answer: 10

Yellow Chocobo, Hovercraft, Boat, Serpent Trench, Cids airship, Black Chocobo, Tank, Falcon, Giant Whale, Giant of Bab-il. All of these you either use to travel, ride inside, and or control yourself.

8. Who is the first boss of the game?

From Quiz All About "Final Fantasy 1" (GBA)

Answer: Garland

Garland, as most "Final Fantasy 1" players know, has a rather humorous tagline before you fought him. For those of you who have not reached that point yet, it is: "I Garland, will knock you all down!"

9. The first big difference occurs in Mysidia, just before you ascend to the moon for the second time. What's new?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 4 Advance" : 3

Answer: You can change out party members (excluding Cecil)

At this point in the game, you have the option of exchanging Rosa, Rydia, Kain, and Edge for any of Porom, Palom, Yang, Cid, or Edward. They've gained experience just like your other characters, but at the moment their equipment is, well, terrible.

10. Who is the Elemental Lord of Water?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 4 Advance" : 2

Answer: Cagnazzo

Same giant blue turtle, different name. The same strategy applies in battling him, however. Use the most powerful Thunder spells you have: Palom's Thundara, and Tellah's Thundaga will make short work of him. Yang's Thunder Claws are also very effective.

11. What is Cecil's (as a paladin) strongest weapon?

From Quiz Final Fantasy 4

Answer: Crystal

Excalibur is the sword you make out of adamantium and legend which is the second strongest. Masamune is one of Edge's weapons. Legend is the first weapon you get as a paladin.

12. Cyan, who hails from "Final Fantasy 3 US", has a SwdTech ability called Cleave where every enemy on the screen is sliced in two. Which Job in "Final Fantasy V" has a similar ability?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy V" Trivia

Answer: Samurai

This is the last ability that is learned by a person using the Samurai shard, and it is well worth the wait! Of course it fails against bosses, but on random enemies it works wonders.

13. Who is the only boss who goes out of his way to fight fair?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 2 US" : Part III

Answer: Rubicant & Rubicante

Each time you battle Rubicant, he will restore your party's HP and MP to their maximum. Good thing too, as he is the strongest of the Four Fiends of Elements. His Cloak protects him from Ice spells, but not Ice weapons. He must open his cloak to use his Glare spell, which is devastating when you first meet him.

14. Occasionally, the forces of evil turn your own characters against you. Which two playable characters are you forced to fight?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 2 US" : Part II

Answer: Kain and Yang

Of the available choices, Kain and Yang make up the best response. Kain confronts Cecil in the Crystal chamber of Fabul, where you will lose. Yang confronts the party in Baron after Cecil has become a Paladin. It should be noted that Rydia confronts Cecil and Kain after the package decimates Village Mist, however Rosa is never on the other side of the field.

15. The ninja Edge has three spells that duplicate White magic spells. Which White magic spell can Edge NOT mimic with his Ninja magic?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 2 US" : Part I

Answer: Fast

Pin mimics Hold, Smoke mimics Exit, and Image mimics Blink (though he can only cast it on himself). Incidentally, if Edge uses the Masamune as an item, he can recreate the Fast spell.

16. Who is the first boss that you encounter in the game?

From Quiz Final Fantasy IV

Answer: Mist Dragon

You will first encounter the Mist Dragon when you arrived in the Cave of Mist. It was Rydia's mother who summoned the Mist Dragon to stop intruders from entering her hometown, Mist Town.

17. What is Faris' real name?

From Quiz Final Fantasy 5

Answer: Salsa

Faris is Reina's sister.

18. Which wasn't a character you could not choose in your party?

From Quiz Final Fantasy

Answer: Mutant

19. The four nameless heroes are known as what?

From Quiz General "Final Fantasy I" Quiz

Answer: Warriors of Light

Both "Final Fantasy I" and "Final Fantasy III" are the only games within the series in which characters don't have pre-determined names. Whilst a number of games in the series do have pre-determined names, players do have the option to change their names.

20. What is the strongest weapon in the NES version?

From Quiz Final Fantasy I

Answer: Excalibur

The Rapier is the strongest weapon at the BEGINNING of the game. The Great Axe is found in the Giant's Cave, north of the Cavern of Earth, and the Sun Blade is in the Mirage Tower. To get the Excalibur, you must obtain the adamantite from the Floating Fortress.

21. How many classes are there to choose from when starting a new game?

From Quiz Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls

Answer: Six

The possible classes are as follows: White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Warrior, Thief, Monk. In the original NES release, Warrior was known as Fighter and Monk was Black Belt.

22. What creature does Cecil have to get the SandRuby from to save Rosa?

From Quiz "Final Fantasy II" - A SNES Masterpiece

Answer: Antlion

Antlions are actually real animals. They are insects, and the creature design from the game resembles an Antlion in its larval state.

23. In the Nintendo version of the game, Chaos had 2,000 HP. It was then changed in "Dawn of Souls" to what amount?

From Quiz "Final Fantasy 1" Monsters

Answer: 20,000

Chaos has gotten stronger since the Nintendo version. Most likely due to the fact that the player's party can get incredibly strong weapons and armor in the bonus dungeons. He serves as the final boss of the game who created a time loop allowing him to live forever.

24. What is the special effect of the Masamune katana?

From Quiz Think You Know "Final Fantasy V"?

Answer: 20% critical hit; always strikes first

One of the most recurring weapons in the series is the Masamune, its most famous appearance being Sephiroth's weapon in "Final Fantasy VII". The interesting thing about the Masamune is that it is named after a real Japanese swordsmith.

25. How do you awaken Yang when he's asleep in the Sylph cave?

From Quiz "Final Fantasy IV" - PSX

Answer: Hit him with a frying pan!

You find Yang in the Sylph cave after he destroys the Tower Cannon in the Tower of Babil. You then go and talk to his wife in Fabul. Afterwards, she gives you the frying pan to hit Yang with! Quite funny!

26. How many pirates do you fight in Pravoka?

From Quiz All About "Final Fantasy 1" (GBA)

Answer: Nine

Since you fight so many of them, you have a chance to get one or more Leather Shields, which will save you 12 gil. They may save you from buying more, if you have more than one party member that needs one.

27. The Mysidian Elder mentions a new trial at Mount Ordeals. What's the purpose?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 4 Advance" : 3

Answer: To give the new optional characters better equipment and experience

The novelty of the returning characters will wear off quickly if you don't equip them properly. Each character will find pieces of armor tailored for them in chests around the cave, and will fight for a powerful new weapon in the final chamber. If a character is not present, his/her weapon cannot be obtained.

28. What does Ryida summon against Cecil and Kain?

From Quiz Final Fantasy 4

Answer: Titan

Mist dragon was her mother and she gets to summon it later. Golbez summons the Shadow dragon and Duck is not a summon.

29. Octomamm is best described as which type of creature?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 4" Bosses

Answer: octopus

The tentacles are a dead give-away... Defeat this creature with Cecil's sword of Darkness, Rydia's Chocobo Call, and Tellah's Lit1 spell to move on to Damcyan. I tried to come up with a better question, but all he does is hit.

30. Which boss or collective of bosses does not belong in this list?

From Quiz Nitty Gritty "Final Fantasy 2 US" : Part III

Answer: EvilWall

Baigan, Dr Lugae, and The Magus Three all serve one of the Fiends of Elements. Baigan serves Kainazzo, Lugae serves Rubicant, and the Magus Three serve Valvalis. The EvilWall is a living trap set to protect the Dark Crystal inside the Sealed Cave. EDIT - it would also seem that the EvilWall is the only "inanimate" one of the three... oh well.
