Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Starting your game, Professor Oak is nowhere to be found. How do you make him appear?

Answer: walk into the tall grass

He comes running and tells you that tall grass is dangerous because wild Pokemon live there. He then takes you back to his lab and gives you your very first Pokemon; either a Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
2. On Route 2, what Pokemon must you trade in order to get a Mr. Mime?

Answer: Abra

You can't reach this spot at the beginning of the game. In fact, you must either cut your way into the area or go through Diglett's Cave. He will want to trade your Abra (which can be found on Route 24, Route 25, and in the Coin Exchange) for his Mr. Mime. The level of the Mr. Mime will be equal to the level of the Abra you traded him.
3. What TM can you get from the little girl on the roof of the Celadon Department Store if you give her a Fresh Water?

Answer: TM13 (Ice Beam)

Just buy a Fresh Water from the vending machine and talk to her. Give her the Fresh Water, and she will give you TM13 (Ice Beam). If you give her Soda Pop, she'll give you TM48 (Rock Slide) and if you give her Lemonade, she'll give you TM49 (Tri Attack). Talk to the man on the 3rd floor of the department store behind the counter, and he'll give you TM18 (Counter).
4. Which of these TM's can you NOT obtain in Silph Co.?

Answer: TM47 (Explosion)

TM47 (Explosion) is found on Victory Road. TM36 (Self Destruct) can be obtained from a scared woman on the second floor; TM03 (Swords Dance) is found on the seventh floor in a locked area; and TM26 (Earthquake) can be found on the tenth floor.
5. Where is the Secret Key required to get into Blaine's gym?

Answer: Cinnabar Mansion

You have to go into this house, populated by Burglars and Scientists, and find the Secret Key, which is hidden away in the basement. In order to reach the basement, you must jump from the third floor. The open area to the left of the Scientist will get you to the basement stairs easily.
6. Who is the last gym leader?

Answer: Giovanni

This will be your third battle with the leader of Team Rocket. He never gives up, does he? Anyway, in Blue version, he battles with a Rhyhorn Lv45, Dugtrio Lv42, Nidoqueen Lv44, Nidoking Lv45, and Rhydon Lv50. Just come in with a good water, grass, or ice Pokemon and you'll do fine.
7. What route is the final route before Victory Road?

Answer: Route 23

Route 23 begins after you enter the gate from Route 22, which goes from Viridian City to the gate. Route 24 and 25 are north of Cerulean City.
8. Which of Agatha's Pokemon is at the lowest level?

Answer: Haunter

Agatha starts the battle off with a Gengar at Lv56, then follows up with a Golbat at Lv56. She then brings out her lowest-level Pokemon, Haunter, who is at Lv55. She then finishes up with an Arbok at Lv58 and another Gengar at Lv60.
9. Which one of the following Pokemon does not have a definite spot on your Rival's final team? (Hint: It depends on who your starter was)

Answer: Arcanine

Your Rival will always have a Pidgeot, Alakazam, and Rhydon. Depending on who your starter was, he'll have the following Pokemon:
Venusaur, Arcanine, Gyarados; Charizard, Exeggutor, Gyarados;
Blastoise, Arcanine, Exeggutor. He can be tough to beat, but after all, he is the "most powerful trainer in the world" until you beat him!
10. How many times can you battle your rival in the game? (The Elite Four counts only as once.)

Answer: 8

You can battle him eight times throughout your game. You face off against him in Professor Oak's lab at the start of the game and have the option of battling him on Route 22. The other battles you face him in happen in Cerulean City, on the S.S. Anne, in the Pokemon Tower, in Silph Co., on Route 22 on the way to the Elite Four, and after you beat the Elite Four.

He gets progressively harder each time.
11. Which starter Pokemon's evolved form can evolve to its final form at the lowest level?

Answer: Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur at Lv16, who evolves into Venusaur at Lv32. Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at Lv16, who evolves into Charizard at Lv36. Squirtle evolves into Wartortle at Lv16, who then evolves into Blastoise at Lv36.

Answer: Bubblebeam
