Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you choose the male trainer at the beginning of the game, what name will the female trainer have?

Answer: Lyra

In the Japanese versions, Lyra had the name "Kotone". Most of the time you meet Lyra, she'll be with her Marill.
2. You meet Prof. Oak for the first time at which location?

Answer: Mr. Pokemon's House

You first meet the world-famous Pokemon expert Professor Oak at Mr. Pokemon's house. He gives you your very own Pokedex which is a high-tech Pokemon encyclopedia which records the data of any Pokemon you see.
3. Which two Hoenn Legendary Pokemon can be found in both versions?

Answer: Latios and Latias

Regirock, Regice, Jirachi and Deoxys can't be found in the "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" versions. Groudon can only be found in "SoulSilver" while Kyogre can only be found in "HeartGold". Latios and Latias can both be found in both versions. In "HeartGold", Latias will be roaming the Kanto Region after you get the National Dex, to find Latios you have to download the Enigma Stone from a Wi-Fi Event, and fight it outside of Pewter City museum.

The opposite goes for "SoulSilver".
4. Morty, the Ecruteak Gym leader specializes in which type of Pokemon?

Answer: Ghost

Morty specializes in Ghost-type Pokemon. His gym is located in Ecruteak City. It's pitch dark in his gym, the only light you have is from the candles that the trainers have. The floor is set up so that you have to battle all the trainers, so there's no skipping any of them.
5. The first gym leader you battle has which type of Pokemon?

Answer: Flying

Falkner is the first gym leader you'll battle in the game and he specializes in Flying types. His gym is at Violet City which is the third town you'll visit. If you chose Chikorita as your starter, then you'd better come prepared; that's why Chikorita is my personal least favorite starter.
6. What is the name of the person who has an obsession with Suicune?

Answer: Eusine

Eusine first appeared in the "Crystal" version, although he didn't appear in the original "Gold" and "Silver" versions. The developers decided to put him in the storyline this time.
7. Where will you find Suicune for the last time thus having a chance to battle and capture it?

Answer: Rt. 25

First you'll have to release it from the Brass Tower. After that you first meet him north of Cianwood City. After that you'll first find it at Rt. 42 close to the entrance of Mt. Mortar. Next you'll find it at the Kanto region, in Vermillion City. Then you'll find it at Rt. 24 and finally at Rt. 25 near Bill's house where you'll battle it.
8. Where can Zapdos be found?

Answer: Power Plant

Zapdos can be found at the Power Plant and unlike in the "Red/Blue/Yellow" and "FireRed/LeafGreen" versions, in the "HeartGold/SoulSilver" versions Zapdos will be outside of the Power Plant instead of inside. The Power Plant is now inhabited by people.
9. Moltres can be found where?

Answer: Mt. Silver Cave

Moltres is a Pokemon that was found in different places in different versions. In the "Red/Blue/Yellow" versions Moltres could be found at the Victory Road. In the "FireRed/LeafGreen" versions Moltres could be found at Mt. Ember in Island 1. In "Platinum", Moltres could be found roaming Sinnoh after the National Dex was obtained. Now in "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver", Moltres can be found at Mt. Silver Cave.
10. What's the name of the place where Groudon/Kyogre can be found?

Answer: Embedded Tower

Groudon can be found in SoulSilver and Kyogre can be found in "HeartGold". The place where you can find them is called the Embedded Tower. If you manage to get both Groudon and Kyogre in one game (must be "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" Kyogre and Groudon, foreign ones won't work), you can get the Jade Orb from Prof. Oak, then go back to the tower and find Rayqyaza.
11. Who are the Elite Four in chronological order?

Answer: Will, Koga, Bruno, Karen

The first one is Will and specializes in Psychic types; the second one is Koga who specializes in Poison types; the third one is Bruno who specializes in Fighting types. Finally, the last one, Karen, specializes in Dark types. The champion, Lance, specializes in Dragon types.
12. The daughter of the Elite Four's Koga and the sister of the champion Lance are both gym leaders in the same region.

Answer: False

Koga's daughter is Janine, who specializes in Poison types and is a leader in the Kanto Region. Lance's sister is Clair, who specializes in Dragon types, and is a leader in the Johto Region.
13. Before you go to Mt. Silver, Prof. Oak gives you which TM/HM?

Answer: Rock Climb

Prof. Oak gives you Rock Climb after you get all eight Kanto Badges. This HM was first introduced in the "Diamond/Pearl" versions. Rock Climb is necessary to get to the top of Mt. Silver where you'll have your final battle.
14. Who is the final boss of the game?

Answer: Red

Yes, Red is the final boss of the games is Red. Red has an extremely balanced team and all of his Pokemon are over lv. 80. So make sure to come prepared for an epic battle. The Hail effect will be running, and Red will take that to his advantage as two of his Pokemon know the move Blizzard which will always hit as long as it's hailing. Red will be silent when you challenge him and will remain silent after you beat him. Oh and because I see this too often, Red is NOT Ash. Red is the main character of the original "Red/Blue" versions and of the remakes "FireRed" and "LeafGreen".

He is also the main character of the "Red/Blue/Green" and "FireRed/LeafGreen" sagas of the manga. Red was created before Ash so you can be sure that it's not Ash, it's actually Ash's counterpart in the "Pokemon" games, while Ash exists in the anime.
15. "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" are sequels to previous games.

Answer: True

Yes "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" are the sequels of "FireRed" and "LeafGreen" (like "Gold/Silver/Crystal" are the sequels of "Red/Blue", it's basically the same thing). It goes like this: Red back in the "FireRed/LeafGreen" versions disbanded Team Rocket and after defeating Blue who was the champion for a short time, became the real champion (you know when you beat the Elite Four in those versions and then you have to beat the rival), then he headed off to Mt. Silver for training. Team Rocket after three years was formed again, this time Proton, Petrel, Ariana and Archer were the leaders, instead of Giovanni. Actually they are in search of Giovanni, so it's your job to stop them. Giovanni was gone three years ago, and that's why Blue became the leader of the Viridian Gym after he was defeated by Red. Janine became in charge of the Fuchsia Gym as Koga became a member of the Elite Four. If you played both of the versions you'll understand what I mean.
