Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Is there any level where it's impossible for a Vulpix to evolve?

Answer: No

Vulpix is a stone evolver, so you can choose what level you want it to evolve. It can be literally ANY level, even Lv1, providing it hatched from an egg. Although, as it's a stone evolver, the earlier you evolve it, the more likely it is to miss out on learning good moves. Sure, in this case, most of Vulpix's learner moves (Flamethrower, Will-o-Wisp, etc) can be taught from a TM, so late evolution isn't necessary in this case. You can even breed it with a Shiftry to get it with Exrasensory and/or Nasty Plot (providing you didn't evolve it from a Nuzleaf until Lv49, otherwise it wouldn't have learned Extrasensory).

But if you want a Ninetales with Energy Ball, make sure you teach it BEFORE you evolve the Vulpix. For some reason, Vulpix can learn Energy Ball, but Ninetales can't! This is a fine example of a Pokemon losing ability upon evolution.
2. Which of these berries is of no use to a Feebas?

Answer: They're all useful

I didn't specify for evolution, now, did I?

The Chesto and Wiki berries are both very good for making into blue poffins, but that's only if you want to evolve him. All three of the berries are useful for just holding because of the healing properties. A Chesto Berry recovers a Pokemon from Sleep, and is very useful for making Blue Pokeblocks or Poffins. Oran Berries restore your Pokemon's HP, by either 10HP, or 10% of its maximum HP, depending on whether you are playing a 3rd of 4th generation game. Wiki Berries restore varying amounts of HP, and may confuse the user, if it doesn't like dry food (normally Pokemon with Speed friendly natures, like Timid, or Jolly).
3. Staying with berries, what type will Natural Gift be if your Pokemon is holding a Mago Berry?

Answer: Ghost

The Attack Power will also be 60. Natural Gift is a very unusual attack because it requires a held berry to use it. The power and type of the move (sometimes with added effects) completely depends on the berry held. It works pretty well combined with Recycle and always surprises your opponents who wouldn't expect a Meganium to use a Dragon type move!
(for example, of course. There are other Pokemon who can learn Natural Gift.)
4. A Ninjask enters battle. Beforehand, three layers of spikes and a set of Stealth Rocks were laid. How much HP will the Ninjask lose?

Answer: None of these

Each layer of Spikes does 1/8 damage, and Stealth Rock does 1/8, varying with weakness. As Ninjask is Bug/Flying, which has a 4x weakness against rock, this increases to 50%.

So, why isn't it 87.5%, you ask?

That's an easy one: Ninjask flies.
5. A boosted Pokemon holding a lucky egg switches out, and the second Pokemon (without a Lucky Egg, and you are the OT) defeats the opponent Pokemon (worth 80 exp under normal circumstances). How much experience do the two Pokemon gain, collectively?

Answer: 130

OK, if this one went right over your head, I don't blame you. So I'll explain it in steps:
1. A Pokemon that is boosted (i.e. traded to you from another trainer) receives 1. 5x more experience points than a normal one.
2. A Pokemon holding a Lucky Egg also receives 1.5x more experience.
3. If you combine these values, it means that your Pokemon will receive 2.25x the original experience.
4. As the first Pokemon switched out, this value is now halved, to 1.125x the original experience.
5. 1.125 x 80 = 90
6. As the second Pokemon didn't have any boosts, it gets half the original experience points, which is 40.
7. 90 + 40 = 130!

Well done if you got that one!
6. It's a double battle between a Gyarados and a Noctowl, and a Rapidash and a Drapion. Which of these color combinations will you NOT see?

Answer: Gold, Red, Purple and Green

The only color (out of the ones specified) that you won't see is green. Gyarados is naturally blue, but a shiny one is Red. Gyarados is quite possibly the most famous example of a shiny. Noctowl are naturally Brown, but Golden when shiny. Rapidash are red normally, but a shiny one will have Blue/Silver flames, and last but not least, Drapion is purple naturally and red when shiny.

If you didn't put alternate colors into account, don't feel bad.
7. What is the lowest amount of Pokemon you'd need in your team in order to have at least one move of every type (accurate up to a "Diamond/Pearl" standard)?

Answer: 5

There are seventeen official types, and every Pokemon can learn a maximum of four moves. 17/4 = 4.25, which needs to be rounded up to 5.

You can also count the unofficial Curse type, which is also rumored to be the type that the move Struggle belongs to. The Curse type is neutral on EVERY Pokemon in the game (except perhaps Shedinja, due to its unique Ability). Problem is, Struggle is a weak move, and the recoil you receive from it is terrible.
8. Which of the following Pokemon can produce another egg of itself (legitimately)?

Answer: None of them

Manaphy is notorious for being the only breedable legendary Pokemon. It takes a while, but after putting him the Day Care with a Ditto, you'll have a Phione egg. This is a Phione, not a Manaphy, so it's not reproducing itself, no matter how strange that sounds.

Nidorina can't breed at all, so she's out of the running. Then, of course, we have Ditto, who can breed with anything breedable. Since Ditto can't breed with another Ditto, you can't have a Ditto pop out of the egg!

So, in conclusion, none of these Pokemon can produce an egg of themselves.
9. Is there a Pokemon without a gender that can learn Attract and/or Captivate?

Answer: Yes

Of course there is: Mew

As Mew can learn every teachable move, he must be able to have Attract, despite not having a gender, rendering the move completely redundant. Of course, non gendered Pokemon could also use Attract due to learning it via Mimic, or using it as a secondary move via Mirror Move, Copycat, Metronome, etc. As none of these will end up with the Pokemon keeping the move (the only case of this is Sketch, with Smeargle, and they have genders), it doesn't officially count.
10. In the good old days of Red and Blue (NOT Yellow!), Kangaskhan has a preevolution! What was it called?!

Answer: Missingno

I'm really, really sorry, but I just HAD to put this one in!

You may not believe it, and I didn't at first, but I've tried it, and it's completely true. Catch a Missingno (Under Lv100), and raise it one level, you will not believe what you are seeing.

The Missingno (may) evolve into a fully grown Kangaskhan!

Some forms of Missingno have also been reported to evolve into other Pokemon. I've had one evolve into a Rhydon, a Magmar and a Zapdos, as well as the aforementioned Kangaskhan.
